Hi ya guys! We had to cancel our last week of May through first week of June, 2008 trip! We were sooo bummed out and didn't think we would be going back until next year. It was killing us because we go every year. Haven't missed a year since our son turned 1.

Well, my new boss has been giving me an extra $100.00 a week.....cash. And, I was looking at the Disney website and saw that there was a code for August and September. I was able to book 8 days/7 nights at CBR for just $984.00. So, WE ARE GOING TO WDW!

The best part(s)?

1) My husband and I will be celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary while there;

2) Our 11 year old son will get to celebrate his belated birthday (which he would have celebrated in WDW if we had taken our earlier trip);

3) Our son has absolutely NOOOOO idea that we are going to WDW.

We have never ever gone on a trip to WDW without getting our son in on the planning process. He is going to freak out!

We are going to see our daughter graduate her first year in missionary college just a week and a half before we leave for our Disney trip. I am just going to keep the suitcases out so I can start sneaking in the clothes. He'll never be the wiser!

Our past visits were for 10 days/9 nights so that we had a couple of "down" days but at least we are getting to go.

WooHoo! We don't have to skip a year.

Have a wonderful time and happy anniversary:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :) Danny

hope you have a great time!

Is your son into pin trading.. you ought to surprise him with some trader pins and let him pin trade.. my 6 yr old loves it!

Thanks everybody. I am so excited to celebrate not one but two happy events at WDW. For the first four years of his life, my son celebrated his birthday in WDW. The next six years, he missed it by just a week. This year, we are making up for it with the surprise trip.

I plan on making a special basket for him and sneaking it into the room.

Have a magical trip, It is hard to keep a secret hun?

It's been terribly hard to keep quite but I just keep my mouth shut because I know he's going to be soooooo excited and surprised. He said something about going back to WDW and I said "well just think, next year it'll be even more special because we had to skip a year". He just kinda smiled and said yeah.

We are foregoing the dining plan this year so we are skipping the table service meals that we have so gotten used to. I did make a reservation at the Rose and Crown for dinner. They made a notation on the reservation that it was our anniversary and our son's birthday celebration. They took all our names and the info. so maybe they will do something special.

We have never been there. I tried to get reservations at the Coral Reef but they were booked, of course, because it's a last minute trip.

Anybody ever eaten at the Rose and Crown for dinner? Any suggestions?

Congratulations on scheduling your trip.

How are you going to surprise your son? It is so hard keeping the secret. We scheduled our surprise trip in the beginning of May and we're not going to the middle of October. It's so hard to keep quiet.

Normally, he is on the planning process and we book in August for the next year. So, we had a wonderful 10 day/9 night stay at the CBR booked almost a year in advance. We were so very excited about the trip (like it was our first time but it was actually our 13th) and then everything came crashing down.

Our daughter was injured while on a missionary trip. I changed jobs (good news because I work less and make more Disney money). My husband's neurologist changed his medication and I don't like to travel during the transition period.

So, we canceled the trip. My new boss is so nice that he told me to just pick a time and go on vacation since we had to cancel the earlier trip.

My husband and I decided we wouldn't tell Hunter about the trip and just surprise him. We are going to tell him to get in the car and we'll just take off. We know he will eventually figure out where we are going especially when we hit Mobile, Alabama. It's a big joke in our family because we always get turned around in Mobile.

He is 11 and it's getting harder and harder to pull a fast one on him.

Recently, we just packed our bags and surprised him with a birthday trip to Branson, Missouri. He had no idea we were going there. Since we did something similar so recently, we might be able to keep the secret (while on the road) for a pretty good while.

We have also been talking about going to the Jackson, Mississippi Zoo or to the park in Vicksburg, Mississippi. We really aren't going but we have to pass near them on the way to WDW so, he might think we are going to one of those. Anything to delay having to tell him.

Whenever he gets bummed about missing the WDW trip this year, we just tell him that it will make next year's trip even better.

I made dinner reservations at the Rose and Crown and told them about it being our 24th wedding anniversary. I also told her that we had to cancel Hunter's birthday trip. She said she would make a notation of that on the reservation as well.

I've been saving a little bit here and there so I now have $100.00 to give him to spend on the trip.

I think I am more excited about this trip than I have been for any of the other trips because I know he is going to be so surprised.

Congratulations!!! :cool1: :cool1:

We sort of had the same issue earlier this year as well. We actually went to WDW at the end of April. It was supposed to be a 7 day vacation. Well, 2 1/2 days into the vacation I became extremely ill. To the point that I knew that I was not going to get better on vacation. :sad2: :sad2:

The best thing to do was to go home and see the my docs. I've also got some other underlying health problems that might have caused issues and being treated by a doctor that didn't know me probably wasn't going to be the best idea.

So we had looked into going in December as a make up trip. DS is 4 and never stops asking when we're going back. Well, we had to wait until we had the $$$ to do anything. Unfortunately when we did, the trip in December was out for 2 reasons. We found out we're getting orders (military family here) for Dec/Jan to move. The second reason was that we had intended to stay at the Poly and there were no rooms available when I went back to check. Of course and we weren't going to spend that kind of money to not stay where we wanted to.

We're going in October instead. Granted we're not staying at the Poly then either as no rooms are available. Go figure! But we have not told DS we are going yet and we won't tell him until we're in the car and on the road. He's going to be floored! The main reason we're not telling him is we'll never hear the end of it if we do. And I won't go through that again.

Enjoy your trip. I'm hoping that a code will come out for October soon to see if we can do our vacation even cheaper or maybe upgrade for what we're spending now.

Yeah!!!!! You're going to WDW!!!!!

Just 10 days until we leave (takes a day and a half to make the drive) and he still doesn't have a clue. We left all of our suitcases in the corner after we came home from our recent trip to Georgia.

I bought new toothbrushes and toothpaste and snuck it in the bag. I put the extra set of nail clippers, comb, brush, q-tips, etc. in a ziplock bag and snuck it in the bag too.

The can of spray sunscreen he took to church camp mysteriously disappeared out of the cabinet and it's packed.

He is going to be soooo surprised!

Congratulations and have a great trip. Can't think of a better place to celebrate an anniversary (we're celebrating our 25th in September at the CSR).

Just an update.....I started sneaking clothes into the suitcases last night. He still has no clue!!!!!:thumbsup2

My friends did this to their son. He didn't believe them to they were boarding the plane! They had to have the flight attendant confirm that they really were flying to Orlando. It was hysterical!
I hope to do this someday. My husband gets way to excited and always tells them. Keep us updated. Can't wait to hear all the suprise trip details
