My daughters and I love HGTV and watch it all the time. Our favorite is Designed to Sell. I'd previously checked the HGTV website and they were only working with people who lived in the LA area. Well today, we saw an episode filmed in Chicago. Onto the website we went and found that they are filming the show in Chicago now. YEAH!!!!!! So we submitted an application and hope they call us. Wish us luck!!!!!

Cool--how exciting!

I would love to have that crew come to my house.

Honestly, if you watch these shows at all you can tell what kind of stuff should and shouldn't be out and around when you're trying to sell your home. Yet, it seems that all the homes around here have baby stuff everywhere, papers all over the fridge, personal photos all over the place, and obvious mistakes in painting judgement in their homes.

Very cool I love that show. Lisa Laporta always has such great ideas. I remember one show when the girl decided not to put her house up for sale because she liked what they did to it so much.

Good luck!

I could really use those guys right now!

Yes, HGTV is beginning to branch out a bit. We've just recently had a house here in town on Designer's Challenge and we have a House Hunters episode coming up in the near future. I'm glad to see they are finally getting out in the 'real' world so to speak. Not everybody has $700,000.00 houses in LA.:)

Great!!! Does that mean you will be moving to the Carolinas????

cool good luck! We love that show as well and would love to have their advice here as ours isnt quite hitting the mark apparently :(

Join us over on the house for sale thread! :)

SCMinnie,
That's what we're hoping to do. We have an exploratory trip planned to visit SC in April and we're hoping for the best!

FreshTressa,
I read your "to do" list on prepping your home for sale -- WOWSERS!!! Good luck. I'm sure it will all be worth it when your house sells and you get to move to your new one.

binny,
As soon as we're officially "on the market" I'll be a part of the house for sale thread. Thanks for inviting me over.

Oh, no kidding! And the garage is just bursting at the seams with junk...it makes me cringe. But what really irritated me was a couple on the show Buy Me yesterday evening. They were living in a duplex-type home and many other houses in the neighborhood were up for sale as well. They were asking almost 70 grand more than the people across the street and were shocked SHOCKED! that they didn't receive even one offer. And they didn't have any special upgrades either...the people across the street were the ones with beautiful ceramic tile floors. Yet this couple insisted their home had more "curb appeal' despite the fact that EVERY house in the neighborhood was practically identical.

By the end of the show, they still hadn't received an offer and decided to just do a FSBO. I bet they are still waiting for an offer.

well come on over whenever you want to :)

Lots of people getting ready to sell there too.

TheSurlyMermaid,
I say that Buy Me show and actually thought they deserved not to get any offers. When the RE agent suggested lowering their asking price to $369,000 they were so opposed to it and then the husband said "How about $374,000 -- I'm such a genius" like the $5,000 was going to make a difference. He was so arrogant about everything. I felt sorry for the agent who did all those open houses for nothing. And at the end of the show when they went back to FSBO they said they'd lowered their price.

I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought they were obnoxious! Those houses all looked so similar and they're blathering on about curb appeal?!!! Give me a break!

I hope you get on the show Designed to Sell. I love that show and they do some really great things. Crossing my fingers for you!

Oh I love that show! Keep us posted.
