It seems everytime i want to loose wieght it only last for a couple of days

can you please give me some tips..

I love to walk, but winter is coming..

We need to renew our member ship at the YMCA. so I can take advantage of the programs.. they have a great indoor walking track..

I need all the luck I can get just like i will give you guys luck and pixie dust...

What is the first thing you do when starting a weight loss plan??

should I keep a journal, write down everything i eat. ??

If you plan to be successful, then you will be!

One of the best things you can do is read the posts here as often as you can. Read about the different approaches everyone has to eating/losing weight. Remember that you shouldn't consider this a "temporary" thing to just lose weight, you should make whatever you decide to do something you can live with for the rest of your life.

From Atkins to South Beach Diet to Weight Watchers to just cutting out junk food, there are all sorts of options. You can use fitday.com to track the foods you eat every day or just write it down yourself.

Joining the Y is a great idea! Try not to expect too much from yourself at first. If you start out slow and build up your exercise routine over time then you'll be more likely to stick with it (at least that's been my experience).

Good luck! You can do it! Read the posts here and you will see some amazing stories. Some people want to lose 5-15 pounds, some want to just exercise and get in shape, some have 50 pounds to lose, some have over 100 pounds to lose, but together we are supporting each other and we all know we can do it!:teeth:

I started this jouney a month ago so I'll give you a newcomers perspective. I'm sure others who have been at it longer and have lost a lot more than I will also chime in with some great advice.

First off I think you need to be ready for it mentally. If you aren't I think it will be hard for you no matter what plan you are on. Get yourself psyched by reading some the of the great success stories here and see the common theme that losers have a can do attitude.

Second find a plan that works for you. You can do it all alone, but it is much easier with a plan. Not all plans are for all people and that is what is great about WISH - we are here to support each other no matter what plan. I looked at a few like Atkins, but it wasn't right for me. I know people who have had great success with Weight Watchers, but I'm not much of a meeting person. Then I found out about Weight Watchers online and that's what I'm doing. Part of it is the journeling of food every day and this has really helped me. Learning about portion size and balance has really helped. I started WISH and Weight Watchers on 9/15 and to date I'm down 12 lbs! A long way to go, but a good healthy journey will take a while. I'm not on a short term diet - I'm starting out on a new healthier lifestyle.

I certainly agree with the other comments - just wanted to add that having a "pm buddy" is another aspect of accountability to one another. (I think there is still a way to get matched with one)
For me, it is their positive messages that helped me to "tell myself" yes, I can do it and taking one day at a time, it is happening!

Since outside walking in the winter may be a problem you might check out the Walk Away the Pounds tapes/dvds (WATP). I think it is a fun way to get 1-2 or 3 miles of walking accomplished.
