I hope I can get home tonight

(Where's the "eek" icon for a message icon when you need it? )

DH's car is still in the shop, but we didn't want to pay for the rental for the holidays when we really don't need it. So we dropped his rental off this morning, dropped me off at work, and DH kept my car to have for the day. Idea is that he'd pick me up after work.

Well, I've been trying to call him for the past 30 minutes to let him know when I get off, and our phone is passing me directly to voicemail. I don't think it's because he's on the phone, because we have call waiting. So I don't know why it's going straight to voicemail. But he's also not answering his cell phone (no surprise). I just paged him, so we'll see if he's wearing his pager. I also just emailed him, so if he's working at his desk, he'll hopefully see that, too. But only if he's checking his email regularly.

I hope I can get home tonight.

(Well, if I can't reach him, I'll just call my parents -- it just may mean I end up getting home later than I intended!)

Yikes, Rajah! I know you told us that he is late a lot, maybe you should be the one who drops him off!

(I'm the late one in my family - therefore DH would never depend on me for a ride home, sad to say. I just get distracted and the next thing you know I am way past the time to pick him up)

Hope he gets there soon!

Okay, finally reached him on his cell (third try). Told him the phone wasn't working right and he just verbally shrugged and went right back to what he was doing. He doesn't care if no one can reach us.

I don't get off for another 30 minutes, but I wanted to make *sure* he was going to be here and knew what time to be here, because I didn't want to be sitting outside waiting for him to come for an hour only to discover that he'd lost track of time.

Presumably, he's going to check the phone after he finishes looking for the package tags, but we'll see.

Are you sure your dh is not related to mine? NOthing drives me crazier than to not be able to get him on the cell phone.

LOL Pooh! I don't know what it is about some men -- this seems to be a trait of more men than women for some reason.

I would *love* to have a telepathic connection to DH of the type that would only activate when wanted. Meaning I could contact him at any time without having to worry about phones, but I also wouldn't have to worry about sharing every single thought with him, either. ;)

Well, I am late, but I am always reachable. That would drive me nuts too, Rajah! Does he just turn the thing off, or forget to take it with him when he leaves his desk, or what?

You may need to remind him how bad that could be if you had an emergency situation.

I am glad that you got in touch with him though. Hope he makes it there on time!

Well, we found the culprit. One of our cordless phones is acting strange. This is the second time I've found it hanging up the phone line.

Snoops -- I've reminded DH about that time and time again. He says just page him. That works when he's not at home and thus not wearing his pager. Of course, in his defense, he *thought* the phone was working last night until I reached him to say otherwise.

JTB -- LOL! Thanks for the offer ;) My parents live about 15 minutes away, though, so they were my backup. :teeth: It's very nice being so close to my parents, since we get along very well.
