So the plans for my solo trip are growing as we speak. I'm going to drive from Cleveland just like we used to when I was little (do they still have those "Pedro South of the Border" signs????) and visit my sisters on the way down. (They are thinking about abandoning their families and jumping in the car with me -- thus the end of the solo part. Either way I can't wait!)

Anyhoo, I haven't been to "PO Riverside" (can't get used to calling it that) since it was DL, but I really feel like staying there for old time's sake. (Plus, it's my trip and I'll stay where I want to!!! )

How has it changed, if at all? What are the current thoughts on DL, uh, I mean PO, riverside?

I'm dancin' already!

The basic feel of the resort hasn't changed it's still beautiful.
They just recently renovated all the rooms and they look great . There is now a pull curtain to close off the sink area from the bedroom area.
There is also a refrigerator, small coffee pot and hair dryer in every room.

Bob Jackson is a great entertainer in the lounge, he has been there some years now and puts on a great show. Lots of audience participation.
They have put in a horse drawn carraige ride that goes between Dixie and the French Quarter. Cute ride for about a half hour but very over priced IMO.
Everything else is pretty much the same. The food court is the same except they took away some condiment areas (which is annoying to me).
It's still my favorite resort in WDW.

My family will be drving down once again and staying at POR the second week in July. I am sooooo excited because I'm taking our 14 yr old neice w/us and our teens. This niece has Never been on a vacation and has Never seen the ocean. I am so excited to be able to give her these experiences.

I'm so glad to hear about Pedro! I haven't seen those signs since I was a kid!!!! Honestly, I'm torn about giving up my solo trip and wanting to spend time with my sisters. I figure, whatever happens will be good.

You're always a weiner at South of the Border!

Love those signs and they make that trip through North Carolina doable. Although I think I only stopped there once as a child and we never stop now.
Sorry can't help with DL/PO never stayed there but hope you have a great time.

"Our rooms are Heir -Conditioned". Just love the signs - can't help but chuckle. The level of anticipation just goes way up when we see our first South of the Border sign. That's when the kids used to start asking "are we there yet?"

Auntpolly - you're now getting me all excited for our trip to POR. My kids think I'm crazy as it is with all this DIS madness.
