We usually throw together a couple quicky meals while at OKW but this time I actually have to cook...............YUCK! My son has developed some severe food allergies so I need to make some things for him. That being said, I have a few questions.

1. Are there measuring cups in a 2 bdr?

2. How about muffin tins.........I'm guessing no on this one.

3. cookie sheets?

Thanks for the help. One week to go!!

Pat,
Thanks for the list of items. That is just what I needed to see.

Yeah, these allergies are not fun for any of us. On the bright side, I discovered today that I can make blueberry muffins without any wheat, oats, egg, or dairy and they actually taste good!

We used the oven on our last trip to OKW to heat up some pizza (I like pizza heated in the oven rather than the microwave). I couldn't figure the thing out! First time I had used a digital oven. Luckily, the green card was on the counter to explain how to use it! Boy did I feel dumb!:p

Lisa R we are wheat allergic at our house..

Check out a cookbook called " My kid is allergic to everything" dessert cookbook by Mary Harris and Wilma Nachsin.

it is wonderful and gives great substitutes for wheat in recipes.

Also, we use Berlin Natural bakery spelt bread... you will not notice that is it not wheat.. they have rolls and cinnamin raisn bread and there are wheatless toaster waffles...
Even can buy wheat free pancake mix..

Ener G has an egg replacement substitute that works with baking and we use soy milk for all sorts of recipes..

Good Louck it isn't that hard to do once you get into the swing of things.. if you need help you can PM me

Debbie when OKW was new - they had a book that descripted how to use everything - they had to do away with it - too many guest? were taking the things.....

It was like the ones at the Marriott - had everything in one nice to use book....I really miss it - especially when I stay at a Marriott that has their.

LisaR - I know it is alot of work - but you or your son has to start reading everything - ingredients can change - I found that out the hard way...

you doctor can probably give you a list of just about everything that currently attains what your son is allergic too

I am also allergic to aspirn - you would not believe the lists (yes lists) of stuff that contain aspirn -

he can also tell you the other names (yes some companies list them under their chemical names) - that you need to avoid.

Disney is very good about working with you - just tell the food servers your son is allergic - then a chef will come out and tell him what he can work with on the menu - some of the items come to them already prepared so they can't change those.

I always ask for a take out container to take the left overs - so I won't have to cook a meal....

I have to agree Disney is fab about food allergies. My oldest has a life threatening allergy to peanuts and tree nuts. Within the last coupel years they ahve made thinsg even easier than before. When you make a PS make sure to tell them of the allergies. They'll giev you a number to call a few days before the ressie to speak with the chef at that restaurant. The chefs most always coem out and talk with you when you arrive (Make sure to verify with the host about the allergy.). Course, there have been soem restaurants that ahve been better than others. Chef Mickey's has always been oen of the best, Morocco last trip wasn't too helpful, but for the most part they are very accomadating. Go to the restauranst board and there are soem very knowledgabel peopel over there. I even got the number to call to check with outdoor foods to check on the ice creams in the carst throughout the parks from there. We've only had one problem thus far - Boma breakfast at AKL. She broke out in a few hives aroudn her mouth, but benadryl took acre of it and we didn't ahve to use the EpiPen. The chef had walked me through the buffet, but from what I understand now there are a lot of nut itme there at dinner. With all your son's allergies I would think calling ahead woudl be important so they can be prepared to cook him something separate. Good luck!
