School's going well, but I've chosen to concentrate on school and my kids and my close friends rather than concentrate on dating at the moment.

What were you majoring in again? Are you still planning on law school?

I'm majoring in Criminal Justice (still) and I plan to get a job in the field after I graduate next May and possibly eventually go to law school (but not right away.)

Interventions are always difficult. Unfortunately they don't always work but you made that first step. Maybe something you said will get through to your friend even if it doesn't seem like it now.

I'm sorry about your friend. The ONLY person that can help them is themself!! If they can't admit it and take steps to help themselves, NOTHING you say or do can help. Sorry, I know from experience with my sister, who litterly drank herself to death.

This particular person has a problem with drinking and then driving, more than just drinking. He will drink 5 or 6 beers and then say he is fine to drive.

Good for you for trying to help. I bet that wasn't an easy conversation. Maybe over time what you said will sink in and he will get help.
