I have to have the most moody bus driver in the world!

He's been releasing my kids to my girlfriend for years and just yesterday he decides it's not ok for my kindergartener to go with her because he doesn't have a note from me, but I knew all along that transportation had one.
So today I give him a note with all the people that could pick my children up ( about 15 people ) and he complains, how can I remember so many people?? I told him that's his job not mine.
Funny thing is when I called the transportation department , they told me who was on the release form and my girlfriend IS on the list , so they have no clue why he's doing this.
I think he's just going through his mid-life crisis!
Don't take me wrong , I appreciate the fact that he looks after my DD but if he needed another note , he should have asked for it back in September, not at the end of March.

That would irk me too, why now? Well, at least he's looking out for the kids like you said.

My DD informed me that every morning when she boards the bus that it reeks of cigarette smoke so badly that it made her feel nauseous. She's got asthma, so that makes me mad, but none of the children should have to sit in a cloud of smoke on the school bus, she said the windows aren't even opened when the bus pulls up

Sorry! You just reminded me that I'm not to thrilled with our bus driver either LOL!

Lori , we had that problem up until they installed cameras on all the buses, we don't have it anymore but this driver just comes up with stupid things at times that are really nothing.
Bottom line is I found out all the drivers have been given two weeks to inspect their files and show all the needed forms to the superintendent, I would have no problem in filling out another form if he had told me that he didn't have one and that he needed it , although he should have realized that in September and also should have given me the chance to do it , not just refuse to release my child when my girlfriend was picking all the kids up just like she has done hundreds of times before.
I can't read people's minds and I can't help them if they don't tell me what they need.
I was always considerate to let him know when my kids were not going to be in the school bus so he wouldn't wonder , but no more, I'm not going to be considerate anymore.

I think that is really silly of the driver to not release your child to someone they have been going with all year long. But I also think giving him a list of 15 names that your kids can go with is unrealistic. Can you imagine if every family on the bus said here are 15 people my kids can go with -- what a logistical nightmare. I did bus driving training last year and decided I would rather work in the school, it is a very stressful profession.

Kallison, actually 4 people of that list including myself pick up the kids , between three families we take turns , only one of us has the husband off a couple of days a week and that's why I put his name on it too, the rest of them is in case of an unforeseen emergency but I honestly don't see it happening.
I did it honestly to tick him off , I understand that being a bus driver is a stressful job like many othersbut he brought this on to himself. He has known me and my girlfriend for 6 years now and he sees us daily, it's not like he doesn't know us.
He says he can't wait to retire.....I can't wait for him to retire either, LOL.

That is too bad he feels that way, he shouldn't be around kids then. We have had the same bus driver for 7 years, he is the greatest. My parents drove bus too in their retirement jobs, it is really a hard job, worrying about all those kids getting home safely. That is why I gave it up, I could drive the bus but I didn't think I could deal with 65 kids jumping around behind me.
