I used to, but then one day I forgot they were coming and they gave me the best cleaning I'd ever had!! So, I stopped cleaning up for them. I've since stopped using them, but the messier the house was before they came, the better they cleaned it.

i don't clean, but i do declutter. that way they can vacuum more effectively.

Yeah... declutter thats a good word for it. They do the vacuuming and the floors/bathrooms, dust the furniture etc... but I always clean like crazy before they come - wouldn't want them to think I'm a slob, right?

We have a friend who is in grad school right now and having a hard time finding a job that works with her class schedule, so she's doing housecleaning/childcare/mother's helper stuff for a lot of families in our neighborhood. She takes 2 hours every week to clean a few rooms in our tiny house, and at first I was neurotic about having all the clutter cleaned up before she got here. Neither DH nor I are very tidy people - I like to pile stuff, and he likes to spread everything out so he can always see what he's looking for!

Then my new job got crazy busy, and suddenly I just didn't have time to pick stuff up before she got here to clean. So now she just scoops up anything that she doesn't know where to put it away and tosses it all in an empty laundry basket (or two! hopefully never 3...) that she leaves on our bed. We get home to a clean & tidy house and just have to put away the stuff in the laundry basket(s). Very nice!

I told DH that I'm getting addicted to having someone clean the house for me every week, and I don't think I could do without it ever again. He said I'd better hope our friend stays in grad school for a LONG time then because we can't afford anyone else!

I have a couple of people I occasionally clean house for. I ask them to put things away since I don't want to lose something or misplace any important papers and to put sheets out if they want them changed but other than that I don't expect anyone to clean for me! If they were that tidy they wouldn't need me!
