I have some questions about Add-Ons

I have purchased from the resale sites before. But I am looking for a specific amount of points. I am having trouble finding what I am looking for there. Can I add on any amount if I purchase through Disney? Can I purchase at any resort? What is the current price for add-on points? Thank you for any help.

You can purchase any resort Disney is selling points for - right now that would be Saratoga Springs. From time to time they have points available at the other "sold out" resorts, from buying back points when people try to sell them for too low of a price. I think they generally have a waiting list of members they call to unload those, though. You probably should check with your guide and let him/her know which resort you're interested in so you can get on any such list.

That said, the minimum # of points you can buy from Disney is 25 if you're not financing, or 50 if you are financing. Without financing you can buy 26 points, 27 points, 200 points, etc - any number as long as it's at least 25 and doesn't exceed the maximums.

We just recently purchased 50 HH points from Disney directly. As long as they have points at the resort you want, with the use year that you currently have, you are good to go. The cost was something like $92 a point I think.

You can purchase add-on points direct thru DVC at any of the DVC resorts. I think the only one right now that you might have to waitlist for is BCV. Just give your guide a call and he/she can check and tell if you if what you are currently looking for is available (or would have to waitlist). It will depend on your UY, number of points, and the resort.

The cost at the "sold-out" resorts is $92 per point, with no incentives. If you need to finance thru DVC you'd have to get at least 50 points, otherwise you could get 25. If you wanted to get a different UY, you'd have to get at least 150 points and it would create a new membership number & contract number.

If you wanted to add-on at SSR it would be $98 per point and to receive the current SSR incentive of $8 off you'd have to buy at least 100 points.

Also just a note to anyone internationally reading this: if you are in a part of the world where DVC is not licensed, you cannot buy over the phone. You must purchase your add on in person from a DVC guide.

This applies to most of Canada with the exception of Ontario, and most of the rest of the world....

That would be a case where an additional resale may be the way to go, unless you can wait and buy in person in Florida.

It applies to Nebraksa for sure (personal experience speaking) and I believe Hawaii. I think those are the only "no contact whatsoever" states where they can't even give you information except on site. There are some others that you can get the information but have to visit to actually sign the papers.

At least now the papers can be signed in California as well as Florida!
