I have NEVER been SO angry in my life! My poor granddaughter..Update pg.2

Your SIL must complain to everyone he can. Last month my DGS had to undergo an angiogram. Two techs from anesthesia almost made him fall off the gurney and when my DD stepped in to keep him from falling off one of the techs pushed her away from the gurney. How this 2 1/2yo managed not to hit the floor is a miracle. It took 2 weeks and 6 phone calls but on Friday my DD got a call from the head of cardiololgy to confirm that these 2 techs are permanently banned from caring for my DGS.
I must noticed that I typed "Made him fall" and want to make it clear that I did mean MADE not LET. They were actually fighting over which one was going handle his anesthesia and got into a tug of war, with him as the rope.

This is rather shameful. I am about to finish Nursing school this summer and I have been working as an aide for over a year now. I have seen wonderful nurses who set a great example and I have seen nurses who make me shake my head in puzzlement. This nurse obviously seems to have forgotten why she went into nursing in the first place. Working on Easter or not, it is absolutley without question that this nurse was way over the line. I wonder how she treats patients who are confused or disoriented? If she yells and berates a 5 year old girl visiting her Mom, I cringe at the thought of how she deals with patients.

I'm the GF of a care home aide and he agreed with me,report her and fast. on the way for you GDD and you

I think I would have a visit with the nurses supervisor. What she did was horrible to that little girl.

Definitely do not let that one go.

 I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes and a big lump in my throat. I can't imagine what a horrible situation that must have been. Thank goodness you were able to calm your GD down and help her understand everything is going to be ok. I definitely think this nurse s/b reported. People who are ill don't need to be around poison like that.

C. Ann, I know you have a lot going on, but I do hope this situation was reported in writing. I can't imagine how many people this "nurse" (I use the term loosely in her case) has upset, both patients and family. She truly needs to find another line of work - preferably one where she does not deal with people on a regular basis.

Gentle  being sent your way and keeping your family, especially your dear daughter, in my prayers.

Just a quick update for those of you who didn't read my new thread last night..

When I visited my DD yesterday the "witch" was there.. My DD pointed her out and I spoke to a supervisor about what happened on Easter.. The supervisor called the "witch" into her office and the next time I saw the "witch" she was on her way out the door with her coat on.. It wasn't time for a shift change, so I'm assuming she was told to go home..

Thanks for all the kind words.. I knew I couldn't possibly be the only one that thought this was terribly unprofessional behavior!

ugh - C.Ann - everyone's right - there is no excuse for that type of behavior!

So she at least was made to take some time to think about how she treats the patients and their families.

As an RN myself, that is inexcuseable and deploreable behavior!!! You should find out the name of her immediate supervisor, sent a WRITTEN complaint, with coppies to the Director of Nurses AND the Chief of Staff AND the Administrator!!! That way, you have followed the correct chain of command, and also let the "higher-ups" be aware of the situation. In your complaint, specify that you want this to be rectified, and you want written notification of the rectification (or whatever!). That should get some attention! But you really owe it to not only your family - but others to put a stop to this kind of unprofessional behavior. There is no room for that kind of behavior!!!

Good Luck!!!!

:earsgirl:

I agree, I agree! Start with her immediate supervisor and work your way up to the Board Of Directors! Hospitals must be very competive these days, and I bet the BOD wouldn't like that kind of publicity-hey, maybe call a newspaper reporter-you know human interest story. Whew! When I first started reading your post, I thought you were talking about a prison situation, not a hospital! That nurse should be fired immediately, just for that one incident.(I bet it's not the only one...)

God Bless you and your DD, I hope she gets the care she needs to make her well again...

Thanks for the update C.Ann. If the witch was sent home I am wondering if this was not the first complaint ? You have no way of knowing of course. But I am glad to hear you got some satisfaction at least.
