Not looking for sympathy, just need to write this down. Will try to make this as short as possible:

We were at girl guide family camp at the end of August. DD asked if she could take her special pokemon cards (the ones she doesn't have doubles of) with her. Usually I would have said no, in case they went missing but said ok since her grandfather (my dad) just passed away and I knew she would feel better having the cards with her since many were from him.

Well, the cards went missing either at camp or I somehow forgot to pack them at camp. I don't know. All I know is that they are no where in this house (have searched for two days for about the 200 or so cards) and are not at the camp.

DD is sick about this and so am I. She has had a tough summer with the loss of her grand dad (they were extremely close) and now this happens.

The camp consisted of ten small bedrooms and a common room. She brought out the cards to show the other kids one evening and one boy took a particular interest in them and kept asking her for them. Her social skills are so weak and I think she would have actually given the boy the cards in order to try and gain a freindship of some sort. He seemed like a very streetwise young man and I was worried about the outcome. Thats when I intervened and asked her to put them away. She handed them to me and asked me to take special care of them for her. I put them in our room and did not realize that they were missing until yesterday when she wanted to show them to a friend here at home.

I know that many others on this board have much larger issues to deal with with their children but I just feel sick about this.

She is heart broken. She has many other pokemon cards at home but these were her favourites since she had no doubles of them.
I am going to go on ebay and try to find locate sellers selling pokemon cards in large batches and try and get her some replacements.

IF BUY CHANCE YOU SELL POKEMON CARDS ON EBAY OR IF YOU HAVE SOME THAT YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO SELL ME, PLEASE PM OR EMAIL ME. I DON'T KNOW THE SPECIFIC CARDS THAT WENT MISSING, BUT IF I COULD BUY LARGE BATCHES OF CARDS, I WOULD RECOVER MANY MISSING ONES FOR HER I'M SURE.

Will also post on the Canadian board (have friends there) as well as on the budget board (in case any DIS ebay sellers have some they could sell to me).

Thanks for letting me get this off of my chest.

I would suggest talking to the camp, and requesting they contact the boy's parent(s) to find out if he came back from that camp with the missing cards.

Maybe you could ask her the names of some of her favorite ones and tell her your calling the camp to ask about the specific ones. I can ask my younger brother if he has any of them, I know he had alot but im not sure if any of them are good ones. I will will def. ask him if he has them. But I dont want to get your hopes up and let you down. But Ill ask him for you. We use to collect those so I think we still should have quite a few. But please please please dont get your hopes up I dont want to let you down.

Meaghan, many thanks to you and your brother. My daughter is going to make a list of the missing cards (or as many as she can remember) tonight and I will post it as soon as she is finished. She would so appreciate this.

I'm not sure how old you and your younger brother are, but if by chance you can give cards to Gracyn, please check first with your parents (if your underage) to make sure that it is ok with them. Sorry, I hope you didn't take this the wrong way, I just wouldn't want anyone getting upset.

Again, many thanks to you and your brother :goodvibes

Things like this happen to us all the time. Do you think that your daughter found the cards and moved them (or gave them away herself).

Im 18, and my brother is a little younger but My mom wouldn't mind one bit. I use to help him collect those things years ago. If you find out which ones she needs ill ask my brother to look through his old cards. We would love to help. And I def. didnt take it the wrong way, hope I can help.

I get my ds to check his cards too- I know he has many many many cards- he does still play every now and then- but I'm sure he'd pass a few on if we had a list...

We have a huge rubbermaid tub of them. Tell me what you need! My boys do not play with them anymore. My son lost a Yugi Oh card once & I went nuts trying to find it, so I know how these things are! Then they past the stage and you find yourself with thousands of cards!

I'm in! I will look for my DD old cards. I hope I can find them. When and if I do, they are yours. Will look for your post re: what cards she needs.

We don't have any, so I just wanted to add some pixie dust.

I also second the suggestion to contact someone at the camp. It's possible that boy took them or maybe he didn'r exactly take them, but just put them someplace. I guess I would not contact the camp to accuse anyone of having taken them, but just to say "My DD had these cards when we came to camp and when we came home, she didn't have them."

Thanks for all the kind words. I have contacted the camp, just waiting to hear back from them.

I have pmed the missing list to anyone who offered to look through their kids doubles etc.
The kindness on DIS is just so incredible. I never expected this sort of response. I am trying to think of some way to give back. We are going to Florida later this year. Before we go, I am going to start a thread in hopes that some fellow DISers would like me to send some post cards from Disney to their children.
Again, thank you for the kind words and support.

Hi, We have a load of pokemon cards too that DD and DS don't play with anymore, please send me your list and I'll have a look if we have any that you're missing.
