I have how many food pix? Time for a dining review!! Completed!

Spoodles Dinner:

the super soft and absorbent foccacia bread, olive oil and tapenade. One thing that makes me sad about Spoodles is that the bread and tapenade is so amazing good at the place with my favorite appetizers. Too much food! I always end up stuffed here.

DH always gets the Greek salad - full of tons of feta, kalamata olives, onions, and dressing. I remember eating half of this when he was done. Have I mentioned how much I love salt? This is one sodium packed salad!

As for me? I love the Mediterranean Dips. Toasted warm pita bread, olives and almonds, a feta dip, hummus, spicy hummus, tzaziki sauce (cucumber yogurt). This is huge and I can never finish it, but I do try!

DS's appetizer - chicken noodle soup. It's not a good photo of the contents, but it was wonderful once it cooled down.

DS's Mickeyroni and Cheese - always a favorite!

Dh's Oak-fired Steak Kabobs - with multigrain pilaf, balsamic red onions and harissa - he loves these and I would say they are okay.

My Rigatoni with mild Italian sausage, tomatoes and portobello mushrooms minus the mushrooms. Oh my GOSH was this delicious! I ate about 1/3 of it because of all the starters and bread, but I would get this again in a heartbeat!

I love the creme brulee and DH loves the orange chocolate cake on the sampler plate (ick) but we both wanted the gelato with cherries and almond brittle:

This was just incredibly good. Housemade gelato (I want to say almond flavored?) with a cherry sauce and the brittle was wonderful. We both loved it and neither of us could finish.

DS's dessert - chocolate mousse. If there was nothing on the menu that appealed to me, I wouldn't hesitate to get this. WAY better than the mousse in France. And hey! Sprinkles!

All in all, I can't wait to go back next month! The prices here are also very WDW reasonable. The pasta was $18 and the kabobs only $23, which is not bad for WDW. We are thinking about doing this meal OOP with our DDE as I would be happy just getting starters and bread...then we can save our extra credits for Jiko...yum!

Funnel Cake with strawberries and ice cream...DH loves these and we thought DS would too. Nope. He was more interested in running around and checking out the train around the Christmas tree covering the fountain. No problem - more for us! I love how the ice cream looks like a slab here...but so delicious!

Oh sorry!!

The School Bread is from the Kringla Bakeri og Cafe (counter service) in Norway at Epcot. It is a huge roll of soft bread - similar to a raised doughnut - filled with a really light vanilla custard. The top has a vanilla glaze and it topped with coconut.

I know "custard" and "light" don't usually go together, but this is not a super heavy and rich and sweet custard. SOSOSO good! It is a challenge to eat the whole thing at once (not that I wouldn't love to try!) so if you order it there, you might want to ask for a to go clamshell for the rest.

They can be purchased with a snack credit, but it is a deal at only $2.49 if you're not on the DDP.

(PS - the sugar free chocolate mousse and fruit tart at Kringla are also out of this world!)

This has a bacon cheeseburger (and a DS!) in it, but the photo is really about the cupcakes. DS and I LOVE these cupcakes. They are super moist white cake with buttercream frosting and sprinkles. We have been known to stop at Wilderness Lodge just to get cupcakes for DS and for me.

Roaring Fork Brownie: HUGE!!! I wish I had a quarter or something next to this to show how big it is. If I had to guess, I'd say it's almost the size of a paperback book. No lie. And delicious!

We stayed at WL in April and I have to say...I fell in hog heaven love with these brownies!!! I have a very unflattering picture of myself trying to jack my mouth open to take a big bite! People don't believe it when they see this picture and how massive this brownie is! I was also surprised at the size of the cupcakes, also. DBF was right in love with those...and he's not much of a sweet-eater. They are just that good!

IMO, Roaring Fork is a great CS where you can get lots of bang for your buck. Huge servings, good food, great service. I really enjoyed your review of it.

Now, on to bigger and better...how am I going to scheme up another trip to get my DBF there to try that delicious looking rigatoni at Spoodles????

We stopped here on EMH at Epcot in January for a run on Soarin' and some desserts. We all picked our favorites:

DS - HUGE rice krispie bar, and yes, he ate the whole thing! DS loves these and enjoys sitting back in his chair, knees tucked up, chewing away.

DH - key lime pie. DH loves tart key lime pie, and I am right there with him. He likes to get this one and rates it pretty high. I would prefer it with whipped cream instead of meringue, but I tend to share it and I can't say the meringue has ever stopped me from eating it...

Me - strawberry shortcake. This is SO GOOD! I love whipped cream and this is honest to goodness fresh whipped cream and lots of it. Not vanilla mousse or a cream with that fakey flavor, but whipped dairy cream. And I love that the strawberries are fresh.

I'd also like to add that even though we had no meals here this trip, we have eaten the CS meals here before (hence, knowing the deliciousness of these three desserts!) and this is a GREAT place to stop!

I am right there with you! I had seen it in the shop every time we stopped, but it didn't look that interesting to me. We would always get the sf mousse and berry tart. The DIS taught me better and now I am trying to figure out the best way to bring some of those lovelies home for my coconut and doughnut loving best friend. I tried last time, but DS and I ate it on the plane... I may have to stick with Kona blend coffee for her again.

Thanks!!! I'm hoping to finish up today because I am off work this week hanging out with DS for the 4th of July break and thinking about starting a PTR for my dining reviews. How obsessive is that??

We had friends who rented our points and were staying at SSR for a few days in November and the day they were coming in, we decided to drive over and say hi and have dinner at the Turf Club. We didn't know what to expect, but decided that we'd love to try it out. We were VERY favorably impressed! The service was just outstanding, the atmosphere was very quiet and relaxed. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a very local country club-ish menu.

We started with the bread and butter, which DH loved:

DS had lost a 25 cent vending machine bouncy ball in the darkness outside while we were chatting with our friends (they had just finished eating) so we decided to cheer him up with the pirate punch. He LOVED the Captain Hook glow clippie. The drink itself was sugar free raspberry lemonade.

I ordered the blackberry lemonade and it was wonderful. I didn't drink more than half, but I have weird issues with too much sugar in drinks. DH and DS very happily finished it off.

For starters, DS had the chicken noodle soup - he liked this a lot and it was full of noodles, chicken and veggies.

DH ordered the onion rings with dips. These were good, but a little greasy. Then again, what battered onion ring is NOT a little greasy?

I had the buffalo chicken strips with ranch dressing. I have to say I would have been perfectly happy eating more of these for dinner and nothing else. All they are is chicken tenders spun in buffalo sauce and then dipped in ranch, but so so good!

For his entree, DS selected (surprise!) the mac and cheese. He didn't eat much of this, but he did like it.

DH ordered the grilled top sirloin steak with turf club potatoes (au gratin cream scalloped potatoes - very good!). He loved this.

I ordered the pasta - the allears description: Penne Pasta with Shrimp - artichokes, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and garlic $18.99; I love artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, olives of any kinds and garlic, I couldn't resist!

This was incredibly good. The ingredients were rich from the olive oil and cheese, but light at the same time. Very filling!

For dessert, DS picked the fresh fruit. He was pretty much done with eating by this time and was more interested in reading his Disney Adventures magazine and playing with Capt Hook. We took much of the fruit back to the BCV's for breakfast the next morning.

DH and I picked the Chocolate Lava Cake - with raspberry sauce and vanilla bean ice cream. He liked this a lot more than I did, but I have to say it was very good. If you love chocolate and melty chocolate you will LOVE this. I prefer fruit and cream desserts (yes, I like fruit desserts more than chocolate...does this mean I have to surrender my girl card???) so I was happy with the raspberry sauce and ice cream.

We liked this so much, we went back later and had similar meals except I did get the sirloin and we both ordered the cheesecake. I was not impressed with the steak (bad night?) but the cheesecake was amazing!!! DH had the crab cakes for his starte and liked them. I have no clue where the photos are (dare I assume I didn't take any??? )

All in all, if you are looking for something quiet and very good, this is a great place.
