I have found having a laundry in the Villa is important to us.

In 2020, like others here, we cancelled many stays. Often we had been able to book RR, but we cancelled those, so RR is still the only DVC resort we haven’t stayed at. In July, we “had” to add to our FL stay because a DS and his family want to do a DCL cruise with us, and rather than go home for 6 nights, we extended our WDW stay 4 night, then heading to Vero for two, as the cruise leaves from Miami.

So, RR preferred studio is available for the 4 nights, and it would save points over the AKV savannah view one bedroom we have, but I can’t pull the trigger to cancel, and I am surprised. Maybe it’s the cruise that makes having clean clothes readily available versus staying in a studio, even a studio I would definitely want to stay at because of the split bath. I need a shower stall, not a tub/shower combo.

We won’t have laundry in room at VB, but that’s fine, I love the ocean view over everything. Maybe I should ask, how convenient are the laundry facilities to use at RR?

I will not even be thinking about a studio with the amount of points you have. Sounds like a great trip. There will be other times to stay at
RR. I wish there was a in between room between studio and a 1 bedroom. A studio but with the washer and dryer.

The washer and dryer are important to me as well and one of my favorite things about a 1 bedroom. I say if you have the points, keep your 1 bed. RR is very nice although I have only stayed in a 1 bed and a tower studio so far. But I would keep the 1 bed. I like to stretch my points but sometimes you just have to splurge! Sounds like a fun trip 😊

I used to use the washer & dryer constantly at DVC

Until I’ve read on these boards… folks drying swimsuits and clothes after the rain (even sneakers) without first washing them. Who wants to put their clean clothes in a dryer that just dried somebody’s dirty underwear???

Also read (many years past) someone who used cloth diapers, and washed their kids poop diapers in the machine.

No thank you.

To answer your question, they are fine. I've used the laundry room on a couple of trips at RR now. It's located in the east wing on the 4th floor. It has 3 washers and 6 dryers and I've always had each available anytime I've used it. Similar to other resorts it uses laundry view so you don't have to sit around while your things wash. Here's the link.

We stay some trips in a studio and some trips in a 1 BR. My wife loves having the washer/dryer in the 1 BR. It is convenient to have laundry going while we are gone or sleeping at night.

If you trust the washer, then there's no issue. Even my childfree brother had zero issues with us washing our son's cloth diapers in his machine. He said that if he thought his machine couldn't handle it he would get another machine.

The laundry room is on the tower side near Topolinos -- I believe it is on the 4th floor. I used it in October when I was staying in the tower studios, so that was a decent hike...however, if you ask to have a room near laundry, you won't have near the walk. The rooms do come with a foldable laundry basket, so that is a bonus. I've also used an empty suitcase to transfer clothes to/from the laundry room.

I appreciate the information about the laundry facilities at RR. I have made my decision and will keep the Jambo one bedroom, because it has been a very long time since we have stayed in Jambo, and, we like the pool there. We will definitely try Riviera at some point, but will stay with Jambo in July.

I will admit, I’m a germaphobe.

Our family just bring cases for the return. We buy 5 for $10 tees and shorts and throw them away each day in the cycling bin.Saves a lot of hassle .
Cases are for purchases to bring home :yay:

This thread scares me....we are staying in a 1 BR for the first time in 2 days. Hoping we don't like the in room laundry too much....I like stretching our points so we can get a month at WDW a year.....

^^ agree with the above - laundry + big bed is key to the 1br. What is scary is that then you think you want ("need") a 2BR so you can bring a grandparent or have the living room to relax after the kids go to sleep.

As older DVC beginners (mostly adult kids, but no grandkids yet), we just started with 2BR's to be done with it....LOL

Now, we might grab a studio at VGC for a staycation, or a 1BR if we do a long weekend for F&W (the ONLY reason to visit Florida in the summer or early fall), but that's about it.
