I have another AP question....

Ive noticed when people talking about exchanging their tickets for AP's that some of you do it close to the last day of your trip and just pay the difference...so Im trying to find out which is the best thing for me to do...ok so if I go on Day A for 5 days and use my park hopper pass for all those days...on the last day of my trip I can go and exchange for just the difference or do I have to pay the whole price because I used all my days on my park hopper pass? And....will they start my AP from the day I go over to exchange it or will they backdate it from the day I started using my parkhopper pass....Also, it doesnt matter to me about the discounts for food because I have AAA and can get the same 10% on this trip...and Im not coming on any blackout dates for the pass Im getting (deluxe) ...hope Im not confusing anybody

We went all five days and that's when I upgraded. I actually did it after I had used up my 5 days. They were very very nice and let me upgrade it. They just applied what I had paid for the 5 day ticket towards the pass. They backdate it from the first day you use your ticket.

A couple things- AAA does not offer discounts on all dinning. Last I checked, it was only on character meals. If you want to upgrade, you should do it after any blackout dates of your trip. So, say day 2 is a Saturday and is blackouted- you would want to upgrade on that day or the following day. They will let purchase a on a black out day and still enter the parks. In my experience its a good idea to keep your receipt with you all day. Unless of course you booked thru AAA and are staying onsite and have enhanced fast pass. If you have that, then upgrade later in the trip so you dont loose your enhanced fp.

I believe that another reason to wait is to keep any early entry you may have since you don't get that with AP's. Unless you're staying onsite because then you get the EE anyway.

thanks for all the info but as I indicated in my op, I am not going on a black out date and I am staying on site...does the 10% food discount entitle a person discounts for all eateries? counter service as well?(minus the odv carts I know)
