I read reviews about Sommerfest and came away impressed. People said the food was good but seating was hard to come by. Can someone tell me, is this a place you can sit and relax and eat with family or is it more of a snack place. Like get a quick bite and then go. Any help is appreciatted, thanks.

It is a fast food place. It is located in an area with an overhang from the building, but it is not indoors. There is no air conditioning (although there might be fans) and not much seating. People don't tend to linger there.

I remember apple strudel and black forest cake, but they let me sub a giant soft pretzel (usually a snack credit) that I saved to munch on later.

When Sommerfest is packed and people are circling waiting tables for someone to leave, we carry our trays straight out to the tables out beside the water. It's shady, there's usually a breeze, not many people know they're there so there's usually only a few other people there, and it's much nicer than sitting back in the "hole" (you'll understand after you've been there) There's a place to put your trays when you're done also.

Tasty brats (dark mustard) and sauerkraut with a wonderful hard roll and butter (and DH gets a German beer at the beer stand) and for dessert Black Forest cake. Oompah! :goodvibes

What kind of dessert can you get with a CS credit there? Anyone know? TIA!

There's a list of DDP confirmed snacks from all over WDW if you haven't seen it yet:
