I have a question about Character Breakfast

This September my son is turning 7, we are going to Disney for the week. I wanted to do a character breakfast on his big day at Chef Mickey's, we were unable to get the reservations because I did it yesterday. I ended up with Lilo and stitch, which is okay but not what I was looking for. My question is that is it possible that we might get a table early in the morning if someone does not show for their reservations? Also the time we have for our breakfast is 10:50 am, is this too late for a good character meal?

Thank you all for your knowledge

p.s. I'm so excited! (more than the 6year old):yay:

I know this sounds like a pain, but if you keep trying every day, you may get lucky with a cancelation. At the 45 day mark is a common cancel date. Alot people who keep trying do end up getting a res. Good Luck!

The 45 day mark is a good bet. However, having done Chef Mickey's I will say that my DS7 was the least happy with this one.
I have heard great things about Ohana's Breakfast and the You Tube videos of it make it look a lot more fun.
However, if you are looking for more of the Fab 5, consider Cape May Cafe or Tusker House.

I haven't had breakfast at Cape May Cafe, but Tusker House is really good. I'm sure Cape May Cafe is good, but we stay at value resorts and for breakfast it's not very convienent (no car).

Both are a good alternatives to Chef Mickey's. Cape May will have the characters dressed in Beach wear and Tusker House will have them in their safari gear. Tusker House (Donald's Safari Breakfast) ends rather early compared to most TS breakfasts at about 10:30 am. The later times are fine, characters aren't as busy as the restaurant isn't very full.

We have done Chef Mickeys, Ohana and Tusker House by far Tusker House was the winner for breakfast! The characters were great, the food was excellent and service was even better!

Ohana was our second choice for character breakfast, food awesome, character interaction great, entertainment during breakfast, they dance through the restaurant with Lilo was fun to watch, service however was not so great.

Chef Mickeys is sooooooooooooo busy it is crazy in there the wait for our table which we had a reservation for was still 30 min. later we sat and sat and sat, then the food was just OK and the character interaction is lightening fast because of the large amount of people in there. Dinner there at Chef Mickeys was far better.

Hope this helps with your decision!

I personally say the Ohana breakfast is much better, the food is better and the character interaction, they do a conga type line and dance around the restaurant with the kids. Chef Mickeys is usually a dinner time ressie for us, I do get breakfast too sometimes, like our next trip we have both. If you are set on CM though, just keep checking. I have perfect ADRs now except 1 out of 10 and I think I only have kept 1 of the original, I keep checking and getting better times until I now have my dream time slots. lots of cancelations, try especially around the 45 day mark, I have always been lucky then due to people cancelling trips when final payment is due.

Good Luck
