I am completely freaked out!!! :scared1:

Just as I was walking in the house, I saw him scurry out from under the dishwasher and into the heating vent. :scared1:

I am soo afraid of mice, I cried. Actual tears. I am 30 years old and I had to call my mom to calm down.

There is no evidence of mice. No droppings, no food tampered with. I'm not even sure where he came in - I'll assume along the pipes somewhere. I'm hoping he was just scoping the place out & decided it's not for him ;) My neighbor mowed his grass today for the first time in over a month...it was knee-high. Maybe he was living out there & was looking for a new home.

I ran to WalMart and lined that wall with 8 different traps. Sticky boards, regular traps, one the looks like a little house, no kill traps. I'm not one of those No-Kill people....I want this sucker GONE - tonight!! I won't use the D-Con stuff though. I'm afraid he'll crawl in the ductwork, die, and stink up my house.

How long do I wait before I call an exterminator. Cause I just CANT live with this guy. I wanted to pack up the kids & go to moms tonight.

Well if you do stay in the house tonight watch out when your asleep- a friend of mine had a mouse in her house and she woke up to find it under the covers crawling on her!

Yeah.........it wasn't pretty.........and to make matters worse she still didn't catch it that night [too busy locking herself in the bathroom and screaming]. She had to leave the house for a week before they exterminator gave her the OK......

turned out she had a nest of mice in her garage....nest= lotta mice......:scared1:

The snap traps are better - they get stuck in the sticky traps but don't die right away. You might find one stuck there but not dead, and that wouldn't be cool!

Or, get a cat :lmao: But seriously, our 15 year old cat gets the stray mouse or two that gets into the house better than any mousetrap!

Good luck - remember you are bigger than they are, don't let them scare you :)

 Gotta go pack an overnight bag.

and then, another time. all the mice got together and carried the lady out of the house and threw her in the river!!!!

then went back to the house and ate all the cheese.

the worst problem with mice is that they leave a trail of bodily fluids to find their way back home...

second is the chewing of walls and food in cupboards.

OP HERE...

Well, the good news is...I caught one last night!
The bad news is....I swear that's not the same one I saw :sad2: I'm afraid I have more than one. I am now seriously considering an exterminator - anyone know how much they cost?? I'll give it a few more days.

I am sooo allergic to cats, even the thought of one is making my eyes itch! Times like this, I wish I had one though.

That looks like a litte mouse coffin :lmao:

Ms. Molly will be glad to provide rodent control for you! honestly, find out if it is a single mouse that wondered into your home, or do you have a rodent problem, that is the time to get freaked out!!

We always use snap traps and we use snickers as bait.

Works like a charm. Have the "open" part next to the wall... mice travel the same path over and over again. Put it where you saw it walk.

I hate mice too. I think maybe contact an exterminator. Here are some tips to help you deal with mice and keeping them out of your house. If you have a garage, attic or basement pour some liquid laundry deteregent into plastic or styrofoam cups that are cut in in half. Put them in corners mice hate the smell of the detergent. I have heard dryer sheets do the same thing. Also Riddex plug in systems work well.

not to bum you out even more But I was told once it is never usually just ONE mouse.......they tend to run in packs......

When I lived with a couple girls, we had a mouse in our apartment. Of course, they were both gone the weekend Mickey made his appearance. I completely freaked out, I ran out of the apartment and called my mom, in tears. I just couldn't stay in that house with the mouse. And I also don't have the heart to set traps, I was convinced I would need to move.

I ended up driving home (about an hour and change) and filled up a basin with kitty litter. Then I took the cat and made him rub against the kitty litter (he wasn't too happy about that, but I was desperate). I got his scent on the kitty litter, and brought it back to the apartment and placed it on little paper plates around the walls of the apartment. We also went on a search for any holes and filled them with steel wool. Worked like a charm. Never saw Mickey again.

My roommates were not as fearful of traps, and they actually did buy some and set them up, but we never caught anything. I refused to check the traps, so I'm taking my roommate's word for it. I'm convinced the scent of the cat drove the mice away. Actually that's the reason we got the cat at home, there's so much construction going on in my neighborhood that we were having a major mice problem. It got to be too much, so we got a cat. Course, he's never caught a mouse, he'd probably run the other way if he saw one. He prefers catching flies. But still, we haven't had any mice since he came home.

And like you, i have really severe allergies, but we got a Siberian cat, they don't produce the dander that people are allergic to. So if you do want to get a cat with your allergies, look into Siberians.

Tis the season for the little darlin's. Yup, we had one in our downstairs. Miss Jessie, our orange mouse catcher extrodinaire was allowed downstairs, and did her thing. Now, she's staying down there to make sure that any "friends" don't invade.
Sorry to hear that you have allergies. Hopefully the traps will do the trick.

the rule is, if you see one then you have at least five.

we use peanut butter on the traps. gets them all in a few days.

This time of year when I was growing up, I remember all the dads and moms telling us to shut the screen screeen door quick or the mice will run in. I guess they do not like to be cold in winter either....
