Hi all. I am a very regular WDW visitor but haven't been to DL since my Grad night party in 87. I grew up going to DL a few times a year but never did the actual planning myself. So I need help!

#1 What day of the week is my best bet? I can go any day but weekends which I am assuming is not going to be best anyway.

#2 Why would there not be any fireworks scheduled during the second week of June? Or are they just not on the calendar yet?

#3 Can you still see the outside of IASW while it's being refurbished? I will handle not seeing the inside and figuring out the differences between CA and FL, but I really want my kids to see the outside since FL does not even compare.

That is all for now, but I am sure there will be more.

"What day of the week is my best bet?"

You're only going one day? If so, what are your criteria? Lowest crowds, longest hours, most to do/see?

I've never been in June, but if it's not considered the busy season yet, they don't generally have fireworks on weekdays.

I think the slowest days of the week are either Tuesday or Wednesday. We've done both and found them much slower than the rest of the days usually. Not sure on your other questions. :-)

#1 What day of the week is my best bet? I can go any day but weekends which I am assuming is not going to be best anyway. Well I've heard that Wed. and Thursday are the best days but I've always had good luck with Monday and Tuesday. :)

#2 Why would there not be any fireworks scheduled during the second week of June? Or are they just not on the calendar yet? What are the hours on the calender? If they are open until midnight then the fireworks will probably be added later, if they are closing earlier then it is considered "off season" and there won't be any.

#3 Can you still see the outside of IASW while it's being refurbished? I will handle not seeing the inside and figuring out the differences between CA and FL, but I really want my kids to see the outside since FL does not even compare. The area in front of and to the sides of SW are blocked off, you can see it from the Matterhorn if you know where to look but you go by so fast you really can't see much. This was the case when we were there last month, it may be different when you get there but they do like to block off attractions under refurb.

Just make sure you avoid April 18-20 at all costs! There is the major cheer and dance competition taking place those days and it is going to be beyond crowded! I was there last year when it was going on and I could barely even make it from one land to the other and the lines were just crazy!! You are better off going in early April or early May!

Wow--as always the DIS is darn quick! Okay we are going in June. Forgot to say that part. Looks like the hours the week we will be in CA are until midnight some days, 9 others.

We are going only one day. We are going to be in CA to see family and have lots of other stuff going on. My criteria is low crowds. I am an offseason girl and June is killing me but we have to wait until DD is out of school. Sounds like Weds is a good day. That is what I was hoping for actually so that works out.

Bummed about IASW but I guess this just means we have to go another time, doesn't it?;)

If you're only going for 1 day I would do Wed or Thursday. Keep checking the schedule for the fireworks to be added, if they are open late they will probably add them. :) If you go on a night they close at 9 there will be NO fireworks, fireworks aren't until 9:25 or so.

You can ride the train through IASW. You won't see much BUT you can get the general idea that the front is outside and bigger. My dh was there yesterday and says that the train goes through it and it's all covered up but you definitely will know it's different than WDW.

Nice, I was at the DL gradnight event for 1988! Since you have not been in so long you are going to love it, so much to see and do you'll be amazed.

Yeah, I am really excited about it. Considering ditching my sisters and going to DLR for one more day.....at least!:rotfl: Only on the DIS would people understand that sentiment.

Aren't the 9:00 closings grad nights? That is my understanding but I could be very wrong.

In June, I would avoid the Grad Nights!

Grad Night events:
Thursday, June 5
Wednesday, June 11
Thursday, June 12
Thursday, June 19

FYI, here is last year's calendar for June '07.

HTH :earsboy:

I have a question that I hope does not seem rude.
:/
What is the big deal of IASW?
Like why does everyone want to see it?
Please don't take this in a rude or offensive way.

Why do I need to avoid Grad nights? I would think kids would not be gettting there until after closing. Is that not right?

As for IASW, I just remember loving to stand outside and watch it when I was little. Compared to WDW which basically looks like a boring storefront, it is so pretty. Since my kids are familiar with WDW, I wanted them to see the difference.

IaSW is boarded up at the moment, but if the monorail is running when you go, you can get a peek of it as you're going pass. ;)

If I only had one day at DLR, then I would want to go on a day that had the longest hours. On the days with Grad nights, DL closes two or three hours early; instead of DL staying open until 11pm or midnight, DL closes at 9:00. Also, Fantasmic isn't available on Grad nights. (The RDCT fireworks are still available at 8:45pm on Grad nights (if the fireworks are scheduled), but no Fantasmic.)

If you like to start at rope drops, IMO Wednesday would be better than Tuesday or Thursday, since Wednesday doesn't have the Magic Morning early entry.

HTH! :earsboy:

We were just there this week and you can see a lot of IASW! There are some parts boarded off but a ton of it is showing. I got some great pics.

I think we'll still be okay even if the park closes at 9. We have two little boys who will be wiped out by then anyway. Good to know about the early entry!!

Now I have to plan our drive so I make sure we are there by Tuesday so we can go to Disney on Weds.
