When tv goes totally HD in Feb, will I get all those cable HD channels I keep hearing about or not?

TV isn't going all HD (high definition). It's going all digital. Big difference. So, no, you won't get all those HD channels...

If you subscribe to HD cable and have an HD TV.

TV is not going HD in February--it's going digital. That does not mean that everything is going to be in HD. And it certainly doesn't mean you are going to get cable channels over the air.

Ah ok..I'm so dumb when it comes to technical stuff. We do have an HD TV in the living room, but not in the bedroom. But since they are both hooked up to cable, they should be ok. I think.

We do not subscribe to HD Cable..we have the second most basic package our cable providers offers (the first is ONLY the channels you would get if you had an antenna).

Yes- as long as you have cable or satellite, you don't need to do anything. You are all set for the changeover. People that don't have cable or satellite, and who get their TV the "old fashioned" way- using an antenna, either inside or out- will have to have a converter box to get TV reception after 2/17.

Check your cable listings. We have the basic digital package, and it includes the local "major network" HD channels in the package.

We actually have both an antenna AND cable right now. Years ago, we had a satellite dish and DH put up an antenna for when it was raining too hard or very windy (which made the satellite go out). Later on, we decided satellite stunk so we ditched it and got cable.

I just checked our cable provider's website and it doesn't say anything about changing the lineup in Feb when TV goes all digital. That is, of course, subject to change.:upsidedow
