I want to thank everyone for their responses. I posted this thread and then started thinking of all the details.

Here are a few things that we need to think/talk about:

What venue will we sell the items from? Ebay or Etsy.

There is the issue of pattern use. If you are plan on using a pattern that was designed by someone other than yourself, please request permission from the designer. Copyright is important and some designers specify the item made from their pattern is not to be used for commercial purposes. I don't want anyone to get upset with us.

HOW will we go about posting and sending out the items? My initial thought is we will post and send the things individually.

These are just the initial thoughts. Feel free to add any others

I think that is a good idea. Etsy or Ebay. If we wanted to get a few things together to make a bigger bundle that might make more money? We could send the items to one person to take pics or list.

I can make some bracelets and ear rings but I don't think on their own they will fetch a lot of money but with some other things they might bring in more?

If I can make a suggestion for those of you who like to knit . . . maybe those going to the December DIS event at WWOHP would be interested in Harry Potter scarves. It's a basic knit striped scarf in the house (Gryfindor, Slytherin, etc.) colors as seen in the movies. There are many posted on Etsy and Ebay. If you get a Etsy or Ebay site set-up you could post a link in the post about the December DIS event.

When we were at WDW last December during a cold snap last December there were LOTS of people wearing the Gryfindor scarf that Universal was selling for $35 Here's a link to the universal scarf:

I make jewelry with Swarovski crystals. I'd be willing to donate a bracelet to be auctioned off as long as there is a minimum bid placed that would do GKTW justice on this item.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I am still trying to work through the selling issue in my head. But while I do that, I thought we could start with a specific list of items we are going to make and donate for sale.

I will be knitting a lace scarf. Probably with a handpainted yarn. I just have to decide on the actual yarn and pattern. I will admit, I'm not a fast knitter. I will need to get started soon.

Any one else have a plan for their craft?

I can make a girl's size 5 dress (made out of pink cotton fabric with the Princesses printed on it). This would be suitable for touring the parks, to wear to school, church, or a party.
Or, I can make machine embroidered Christmas stockings.
I'm certainly not limiting myself to these 2 - they just came to mind off the top of my head. I'll be happy to do whatever you think will generate the most interest/sales.

I have decided on the pattern I am going to knit and I have received permission from the designer of the pattern. It will be going on the needles as soon as I finish the emergency fingerless mitts. Our new office is so cold, my fingers are like 10 little popsicles. Hopefully this weekend. Any other specific items? I am thinking Etsy will be the place to sell these items. I will look and see what goes into setting up the page and how things are added.

What a super idea! I am not a crafty type but very much enjoy others' craftiness, and I'd certainly be inclined to bid in this type of auction. I actually participated in a similar online auction (in support of two young children with serious illnesses) and won a beautiful necklace. Felt good all around.

What a great idea! I agree that Etsy.com might be a better place to sell handmade items. Sometimes they even feature sellers who are donating to a good cause on the home page!

What about making custom vacation count downs? I could also make some hotel decoration packs. I know I can't afford to order the floral arrangements or special birthday room set ups but I could make something people could take with them. It could just be $20-$30 for a door sign, paper garlands, a custom banner, and mickey confetti in a nice flat package to fit in a suitcase.
Just a thought. What do you think?

I think the hotel decorations idea is terrific! We'll be going in December, and ready made Christmas decorations would be quite helpful, thanks!

Apparently I neglected to click on quote for the Harry Potter scarf idea, but I thought that was great, too! Can't you just see us all in our Harry scarves?

I was thinking that this would be a great idea! I'm so glad I found this! I don't knit or sew, but I can do jewelry, beaded bracelets, necklaces with pic frames (I use Mom's old Disney pics to put in there). I also make lanyards. Let me know if I can donate anything!
