I have a couple questions involving tickets and the Hogwarts Express!

I was going to buy the single day, single park tickets where you get a 3rd day free. My question was can you use "day 1" and "day 2" tickets on the same day to go from IOA to the studios?

If so do they have it where you can get your hand stamped so you could go back into the first park you entered? Like, say I go from IOA to US then back to IOA?

My third question is, Can you ride the Hogwarts Express to the other park with single day tickets? or do you NEED the park hopper tickets in order to do this?

And finally,

With my 3rd day one park ticket, Can I ride the Hogwarts Express to the other park but not actually go into the park but just ride it back to the park I used my ticket? ( Just to ride it?)

So many questions! I'm sorry! But thank you so much ahead of time!!

No you cannot use your additional days to create a 2 park ticket. You must have the 2 park option in order to ride the Hogwarts Express. There is no option to stay on the train (or not leave the station on the remote side.)

They check your tickets as soon as you get in line at either station, if you don't have a 2 park ticket they won't let you get in line. They do have a ticket booth there so you can upgrade your ticket at that location.

NO..You need a park to park ticket to ride it.You cant ride it on a single park ticket, even if it is an extra day.

Do you know how much it costs to upgrade your ticket at the booth? Would it be even more money because you didn't buy it the hopper to begin with?

Haven't tried it so don't know for experience, but from what I heard they basically charge the difference between what you bought and what you are trying to get. USUALLY that means if you got a discounted ticket from somewhere other then Univeral you would also be paying for the difference in the discount and what you are tying to get. Haven't heard of a penalty for not buying it in the first place other then, the thing I previously mentioned or if a ticket price increase happened between when you first bought the ticket and when you show up.

One side note, other then to a true HP fan the HE isn't that big of deal. If you aren't a big HP fan I wouldn't pay the different just to ride it. The biggest advantage to a non-fan would be the fact you can easily get from US to IOA without leaving the park.

Prior to the opening of Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express that tended to be the case. Since this summer, Universal has tended to charge the difference between the gate price of what your turning in and the gate price of what you're buying when upgrading. So, in general, adding park to park access will cost $40 plus tax ($42.60). Depending on how many days are on your ticket, it may also be worth while to check on the price to upgrade to a power pass.

I'm so glad I asked about the tickets! :disrocks: So sadly there is no point for me to buy the single park tickets... I have HUGE Potterheads in the house so the Hogwarts Express is a MUST! It's totally unfair Universal won't let you use the tickets on whatever day.. They should also allow people who can only afford one park ride the train :( Thanks so much for the info guys! :grouphug:

It's a ride and a mode of transportation. It's like the monorail at Disneyland. You have to have a ticket to ride it because it stops/starts inside Disneyland. Since the HE stops/starts in two parks, you have to have tickets to both parks.
