I'm happy that I got 4 days off during the kids' Easter vacation. I want to be somewhere besides being in Detroit area. Where can we go where it's nice and warm (or at least a little bit warmer than where we are) where I can drive it?

I'm afraid Disney is out. :( I can't seem to get a good air fare and I can't see myself paying $500 rt pp!! The rate just keeps going up and up! What's in Ohio or PA, what about Myrtle Beach? Any places near Detroit that's a good place to bring my kids to? Any suggestions? Thanks in Advance! I sure would hate to just sit around and do nothing for 4 days with my kids. I just want to not be home.

How bout Great Bear Lodge in Sandusky?

Great Bear Lodge

It's an indoor water park with a hotel attached to it. It's really nice and not to far away from Detroit. The water park is really neat, and best of all... water's all heated!

What about NYC? I love the city and there is so much to do there. With all of the airports around the city, you could even fly in. And with all of the hotels, you could definitely get a great deal.

Thanks oogieboogie and Traci-lyn for your suggestions.

What are the things my kids and I can do in NYC? I prefer not to fly. How long will take to get there by car? Hmmmm...Aaaahhh...how about Statue of Liberty? Is it hard to get there? Thanks!

Great Bear Lodge sounds good. My kids love swimming and I just got me a couple of nice bathing suits!! :) The resort looks cool! Thanks for the link!

Anymore suggestions out there? Please chime in anytime you want. :)

If you figure something out, let me know. My 5 yo is off the week after Easter and I'd like to do something with him. My 8 yo is off next week and is going to Mammouth Cave with my parents.

Unfortunately my parents are booked the week after Easter. (Taking my 17 yo niece away.)

Great Bear Lodge is fun, if you like the water.

The Statue of Liberty is easily accessible by ferry. I believe the ferry will also take you to Ellis Island, which is very cool to visit.

I don't know where you are located in Michigan, so I don't know how long it would take you to drive there.

There is so much to do in NYC. You could see a show, go to museums, go to Central Park, SHOP!!

Hi Telly,

It takes about 12 hours to drive to NY. Probably longer with small children. We did it child free once. I don't think you'd have a good time with only 4 days to vacation going so far.

I'm sure it wouldn't be warmer than here, but what about taking them to Niagara Falls, Canada? It's only a 4 hour drive & it's very beautiful. Toronto?

Oh...there is Soaring Eagle Resort/Casino in Mt. Pleasant, MI. The resort is beautiful & you can spend time in the pool. The kids would love the arcade & if you need some time alone, they have a babysitting service there which looks like a big Chuck E. Cheeses for very reasonable rates.

You can go spend the weekend at the Bavarian Inn up at Frankenmuth. There are 5 pools there!

Take the train to Chicago. I hear there is an awesome Children's Museum there, as well as the American Doll factory (where you can book a 'tea'.)

Have a great time whatever you decide!
