Hello!

Just wanted to post about the opening night of the TOT party!

It was so cool. Between the 5 of us ds7,dd4,me 32, my mom, and dad we got 25.5 pounds of treats..

I am completly serious. We got in line outside the gates at about 6:30 and were first in line. We ate our pizza and dinner while waiting to get in. We were let in at 7:15 and could not go towards the rides but were allowed in sunshine plaza.
Hit all 13 treat stations, dont forget the animation building and the redwood creek trail. Rode Heimlich chew chew train there is a treat station in Bugs land!! Most people only went to the one at the entrance. Then we went to the one on pirates wharf twice :). Rode toy story, the sun wheel non swinging gondola, and monsters inc.. And I am happy to say I was the last passenger let on Soarin at 11:31 pm. Also had our picture taken with Aurora and Jasmine. Don't know who the other characters were as that is not a priority for us. Only saw the princess as my Dd is named Aurora and she was dressed as Jasmine.

We had a great time! Poppa and Grammmie got tired so we sent them to taste pilots and we went to the hollywood back lot.. The music is great, the people are nice in fact waiting to get in I met a new friend! We might meet up tommorrow at Disneyland.

So all in all we had a great time. One hint though..

Take and extra bag or even back pack to put your treats in. As when they see a small kid with an empty bag they put in bigger handfuls. Also the redwood creek at about 10:30 the cm were putting in huge handfuls..

We did pull out 3 pounds of hard candy and sticky taffy and now and laters to pass on as they are a choking hazard and I'd rather my kids have chocolate than the sugar stuff. They did hand out apples, carrotts, rasins and smooshed fruit leathers. My kids also knew they had to eat some apple before getting a treat..

For those of you who like the big coasters the lines were minimal. We are AP holders so getting on the rides was not a focus. Also if you are looking for a beer only taste pilots and one place on the wharf had beer. The tortilla factory and the sourdough place were closed..

We did have some freeway closures though on the way home. the 5 in both directions was closed once you reach the 91. There were no warning signs either. So I was in the far left carpool lane to get on the 91 west and had to merge 5 lanes..

We left there at about 1am. after waiting in a long line to get on the tram.

Had a blast and the kids don't need any candy till next year. Heck I'll end up handing it out to the neighborhood.

There are always 2 lines to get treats so please remember that.
Toy story was about a 40 min wait..

if you have any questions please ask. I need to go to bed as I've been up 20 hrs. now!

We are WDW vets getting ready for our first trip to Disneyland and planning to attend MTOT. At WDW for MNSSHP you're allowed into the park at 4:00 for the 7:00 party. What is the earliest you may enter CA for MTOT? Thanks for the help and the great review! I'm even more excited now after reading your review and I didn't think that was possible. :rotfl:

We are going on the 10th gonna have to try and spread out the candy so we dont have to pay extra on the bus. lol

hehe oh cool sounds like you got good haul. was melifcent there?

They close DCA before the party, so you are allowed in at the time on your ticket - either 6:30 or 7:30 - depending on the day.

I have few questions.

Did it seem pretty crowded? :crowded:

Any chocolate candy? :yay:

How long did they hold you back from going on the rides? Was it like a rope drop or what?:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Was there like a mad exodus in one particular direction?

I would really like our children to see Toy Story. What was your line experience there? I was wondering if it would be a good idea to hit that first. And then start Trick or Treating?

Were you able to use Fastpass?

We are so excited to go. My children are older, and they are all jazzed. I originally wanted to do this for my 2 grandsons, but the other kids wanted to get in the action too. :cool1: So I forked out the money for 10 tickets, and we hit the party on the 17th. It's so worth the cost to have my family together. :cloud9: WOO HOO!

My dh wants to know if Maliboomer was open during the party. . . Dang, I hate that ride!

Any chocolate candy? :yay: TONS! Tootsie rools, M and M's butter finger, crunch,

We were able to get into sunshine plaza and had a countdown and at 7:30 we were let in all directions. I suggest getting treats and then rides if you have older kids. as they can last longer and the ride lines diminish. Toy story was exactly 40 min. It was not that long to us as we go often and that can be considered short. But this was at 9:23pm

I would really like our children to see Toy Story. What was your line experience there? I was wondering if it would be a good idea to hit that first. And then start Trick or Treating? Going all the way back to toy story would be ok. but later into the night the lines get shorter. We are park commandoes though on this night. The kids have a late rest and we stay until it closes.

Were you able to use Fastpass? Suprisingly no. I thought you could but they just take your tickets and let you in.

We had a blast and will go back again next year. I just suggest to eat before hand, as my kids know there is a time limit to it and that it is one night so we don't stop and eat. LAst year we were with a group that ate twice. We didn't even see the entire park. his year we did every treat station and ride that we wanted to. Also empty your bags along the way into another bag or backpack and they will fill it with even more!

We have also been to WDW in '03 and liked that we were let in early.. But with only having the 2 parks. DCA closed at 6 pm to clear everyone out and they put up the decorations and treat stations and then let us in at 7:15. Every gate was also open. It was sad though. There were people standing in line in front of us and I noticed that they had their ap's out. I nicely asked them if they knew that this was a seperate event and that you had to purchase a seperate ticket to go.
They then asked me where we got ours and I said that we purchased them online in June. So hopefully they were able to get in.

I can tell you that there is a treat station right out side of it. like where you enter to go on the ride. I don't like that ride either. My son has not yet rode it and said that he doesn't remember if the ride with the "barf shield" was going or not.

I went to it last year, and I loved it! I hope I can go down to Anaheim soon. The party is awesome. I rode TOT three times at the party. It was amazing. I had a great time last year.

Glad you had fun! And yes, as I mentioned somewhere previously on another thread, "More candy than you cuold possibly ever need."

I'm glad you and your family had a great time!! It sounds like sooo much fun!!! I'm SO excited I'm jumping out of my skin!!!

Thanks for your prompt answer.

Now I have some more.:rolleyes1

The reason why I asked about Toy Story right away, is that my Grandsons are only 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. I think they can both go on it, and I didn't want it to get too late for them.

We will probably eat first, cuz we don't even start until 7:30. Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you know if the night you went, was a sold out event? It is already sold out for the 17th, and am wondering what the crowds will be like?

Thanks again!

My kids are 3.5 and 6.5 and they both love toy story. I can say it is like playing a giant Wii. We used to love BUzz. We are totally more crazy about toy story. It is one of the best rides that Disney has done yet!!!!

Yes last night was considered sold out, but it was not that bad actually. As people all want to go different ways. Also for the younger set there are not very many rides that they can enjoy with out height restrictions.

Thanks again!

Not a problem! I enjoy answering the questions of others!

I just asked the same question today, and was told that unlike WDW, you aren't allowed in early. They said you're allowed in about 15 minutes early into the main area, but no where else (rides areas) until the actual start time.

Firday, October 3rd was a 'sold out' event. However, there were tickets available as a walk up at the ticket booths. The line for tickets was very short at 7:30 pm. It was as busy as I've ever seen DCA. Lots of people - lots of great costumes. It was fun to just people watch. (although I also ended up taking home a huge bag of candy!) It seemed that the trick or treat bag was larger this year than last year, and it holds a LOT of candy! You really don't need an 'extra' bag to get more than your fill of candy. Trust me, you end up with a lot. There are lots and lots of treat stations to visit.

One of my very favorite parts of this event was all of the 'dance parties' in the different areas. Watching kids and adults alike dance up a storm with the characters was just a blast. And yes, of course I danced too ... I'll even admit to dancing the hokey pokey. The parade this year is different than last years parade. The parade stops in 3 different places and is a moving dance party with Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, etc .. all the kids go out into the street and dance with the characters. I have to say it seemed like all the kids (little and big) had a great time!

Sounds like you had a great time! I can't wait to go. Our tickets are for 10/22. We've done it for the last 3 years and absolutely love it! We usually do Friday or Sunday, and have always had minimal crowds, we thought we'd try Wednesday and see what happens. :thumbsup2
