Hey all,

We don't leave home until Wednesday night, and technically I have been organised for weeks - but I still HATE packing. It has taken me days, days and days and days and I'm still not done. I don't even know why :lmao:

I just seem to have lists of things to 'still go in' or 'still to get' or 'still to do'... (I'm getting well fed-up of the word 'still' just lately, lol) At this rate, we'll miss the entire trip because I will be stuck here still packing!!!

1, 2, 3..... SCREEEEEEEEEEAM!!!

There, that feels a bit better! Back upstairs to the packing wing (small spare room crammed with cases and food bags, snow boots etc).. Wish me luck! :rotfl:

Godd luck :wizard:

I can't say I particularly enjoy packing either :sad2: and we don't have a spare room so I can't do it until the day before we go.

Hoping you get it finished soon!! :wizard:

I love it give me your lists I'll do it lol! Xxx

LOL, nope... but thanks for trying. Might need to count a bit higher methinks. :rotfl2:

You must be so organised! :worship: Packing comes so naturally to some people doesn't it - I just stand there staring at everything, like Bambi caught in Mater's headlights :rotfl:

I love it give me your lists I'll do it lol! Xxx

:banana::banana::banana: Yes please!! :cloud9:

Right, today is such a busy day for me, I have a work meeting from 10 til 12:30 then I have to get back home asap because the beauty lady is coming to my house to tint my eyelashes and do a treatment on my friend, then Matthew will be home from school.

Wish me luck today, I think I should put my sanity in a safe place so I don't lose it forever :lmao:

Er ..... no :lmao: I might give that impression but I can assure you it's all a cover. :rotfl2: Last time we went to WDW I left our cruise tickets behind at home - my family are never going to let me forget this.

I'm sure you'll be ready in time. At the end of the day so long as you remember your passports and money (oh and a change of undies ;) ) you'll cope!! :rotfl:

Hope your DH has a lovely :bday: and enjoys his party.

I know what you mean. There's always the those things that can't go in until the last minute. My hubby can never understand why I get stress over it, but that because he never does it :rotfl:

I love it give me your lists I'll do it lol! Xxx

Would you like to mine too :thumbsup2

Lol,
Im a bit odd but I love packing!! Honeymoon is 3 months off and I've packed a few bits :)

I'm a list maker too! Lists for my lists and all!

Start with your DSs clothes and do them person by person. Then tackle the electricals and toiletries! Give yourself a goal.. Like i'll have my clothes packed by dinnertime. I sound like an obsessive packer now... :rotfl:

:scared1: forgetting tickets is one of those things I have nightmares about - but the reality is, it is one of the easiest things to overcome (as problems go anyway). Passports are much harder. I think my trouble is the pressure I put on myself to 'do it perfectly' lol.... if something isn't in order, or I forget something I have 'failed'. It won't affect the holiday at all, but I will have lost my self-imposed challenge.

The more I read that, the more stupid and strange I sound :rotfl:

Thank you for the birthday wishes, hopefully he'll get home from work on time and DS will last until he arrives before demolishing the cake :lmao:

:thumbsup2 With you there totally!

:rotfl2: Better than a packer-avoider like Moi! Almost everything is packed, it is just those little bits that can't go in yet. They are the source of my troubles :rotfl:

I sound like a nutcase, lol, thank god DH is too busy at work to read this today!!

Lol, know totally what you mean about packing. It's sooo much harder when you have children too as you have all their stuff to remember  We used to have a spare room which helped but since moving we don't and so it's a nightmare to pack before the event (as this trip is a surprise not sure how I will do any packing before - might end up in the loft doing it!) :lmao:.

The last time we went to DLRP the transfer chap thought we were going for 2 weeks with all the luggage :lmao::rotfl2:. This time, I'll be on a mission as we've only paid for 2 hold suitcases!

You see, the thing is, I'm scarred for life as a long time ago BA lost my case on a trip to Morocco :scared1:. Was just DH and I at the time and we were on a 10 day trip, in two (2 centre hol) of the poshest hotels there! My suitcase arrived on day 6 :scared1::headache:. The first resort we were in had nothing outside of the fabulous 5 * hotel and no-one spoke English (another place where my pigeon French came into play!). God, it was horrific. I literally had to ransack the hotel boutique and recall something like a bikini was £50 :scared1:. No hair brush (DH doesn't need to brush), no toothbrush, no new undies :scared1::scared1:

So, since then I've become obsessed with sharing out baggage equally so that should a case get lost, we can get by :rotfl2:. So, in essence, I have a huge mission this time and need to overcome my packing phobia in the process :rotfl2:

Good luck with it all! ;)

Hiya

OMG that situation sounds awful, it doesn't bear thinking about! If we are going by air we tend to split our stuff just in case.... but me being me, I have to take the panic to the next level - the things I only have one of, I can't decide which will be the safest suitcase :lmao:. I am always stood at baggage reclaim looking miserable and anxious, praying for both cases to arrive. As soon as they do I'm like a different woman lol!

Good luck with this mission, it does sound like it will require some thinking outside of the box! (Although I did LOL at the thought of you sat in the loft packing :rotfl2:)

Ooh losing a suitcase sounds AWFUL! It scares me, but more so that it'll be the one with my sons medications in, so I'd be trying to track down a pharmacist that speaks English! :confused3
We go on Sunday and I've just started packing, my son and my youngest daughter are done so far - well clothes wise, haven't started on the hand luggage aka toy bags yet!

Lol dont forget where you put it though lol! x

Yeah no problem!

Love lots of lists!

My loft is partially converted so plenty of room up there - just a bit cold without heating :lmao: It's either that or tell them we are going somewhere totally unexciting then change the venue at the last moment! But then I've heard of kids getting upset that they are not going to the original 'make believe' place :rotfl2:... Would be just my luck.

honeyb - I would be putting your DS's meds in your hand luggage if you can. When we went last time I had to do that for my DD1 (and it was liquids!) so had to get a doctor's note to cover me - it was fine :thumbsup2

As I said, I am scarred for life.... I too will be looking anxious until I see the two cases!

Rach - how is it going, have you added anymore - hate all those last minute things you have to add.....? :cool2:

:rotfl2: That's just my luck too; we've told Matthew he's going to Nanny's after school today (which he is, while I pack the car and then we'll pick him up and leave for Ashford). He's so excited and keeps saying "sleep at nanny's!!!" and squealing :scared1: I just hope the pull of the Mouse is strong enough to override it, lol!!

Got loads packed last night which is great, there's a few bits to add today but I'm feeling confident.

The downside is Matthew was awake from 2am - 6:30am, and had to move in to our bed and DH move in to his bed to get some sleep. Consequently our nice plan of early nights before the trip so we're not knackered - has kinda been stripped bare. I feel sick I am that tired  You know when you go hot then cold, then feel like the room's moving around you lol... (or that might just be me?! :rotfl2:) I feel jetlagged!

8 hours until departure. Woo hoooooo!!!!

Ha when I was 6 my mum and dad told me we were taking dad to the airport as he wa goin away on a business trip and that we were going to Bristol centre shopping they had a great disney store! Well we weren't going shopping mum dad my sister and I were going to Disneyland Paris well I got really upset because I wanted to go to the disney store not disneyland lol!!!

Sounds bad, we have to take medication and medical supplies so I will definitely look into what we need to do to take some of them in hand luggage.

We've told our kids well in advance. They (one especially) don't like changes in routine. Being told at the last minute they were going to DLP would actually stress them out!

Yeah Rach - glad packing nearly done - not so great news on sleep. That is one of the reasons I wouldn't tell my two where we were going before as they would never sleep the night before and we'd arrive all knackered and them whingey!! :scared1:

Sorry to scare people with my lost suitcase story . I just would hate anyone to be in the same position I was in especially if I had kids (as I do now), and meds to think about :scared1:. Just to reiterate (as I think Honey has set up a separate thread), the reason I needed a Docs note for my DD's meds for hand luggage was because it was liquids and above the 100ml limit. I *think* you are fine with inhalers/tablets etc. If unsure though it's best to check with the airline I guess :confused3.

I think I best start making a packing list now :lmao::rotfl2: I go in less than 4 months now :rotfl2::rotfl:

Wooooo Rach! Bet you can't wait ot get there! Hope you all have an amazing time which I'm sure you will! Can't wait to read about how your trip went! And hope you get to catch up on your sleep tonight xx
