I tried to make things eaiser for the movers by moving 101 (yes I counted) to my kichen. Then I moved all the funiture to my room. ICk! Anyone else hate moving? Share your tales of woe!

I moved for the first time in 8 years just 2 months ago. Now I have to move again. I absolutely hate it, but am getting it down to a science:lmao:

I just hate moving.

Good luck--it will be over before you know it.
I think the moving out part is the toughest.

Moving in was easy peasy!

I hate moving because there are a few things that I know were packed- that are never found again.

I hate moving!

The last time we moved (12 years ago!), my DH and I had grand plans to get all our stuff organized and sorted before the move. We started this plan, but then about a week before the move we both got the flu. The REAL flu, the most bone-crushing, horrible, incapacitating illness. Fever constantly at 103-104, every bone and joint aching...horror.

We ended up having to have the movers come in and just pack the rest of our apartment for us. We were both too weak to lift anything. They were so nice (and maybe a little scared of how we looked!). They did all the packing at no extra charge, and even unpacked our closets for us at our new house and not only put our bed together but put sheets and blankets on it for us! Which was great because we then spent the next week lying on that bed surrounded by boxes that we were too weak to unpack. :headache:

We have not moved since, but those movers are still in business and they have gotten moving jobs from my family members that have moved since then. They are such nice guys.

My DH is in the Army. Moving is a way of life. If he ever retires, I want to move one place and stay there, but I am afraid after a few years that I will get bored and want to move again.

My DD25, on the other hand, stayed at our last duty station and swears she will *never* move again!

We moved into our house a little over a year ago and I hated it so much, I told DH I never wanted to move ever again. We're planning on moving up to the NY area in a few years time, and the thought of packing up again is not a happy one!

The unpacking is the worst for me. Because by the time I finally get to the point of figuring out where to shove everything... it's time to box it all up again. 2 years is the longest I've stayed in one place. For the most part, it was all moving up and to a better place. But ughhh... I hate it.

more to add:
I hate needing somthing that I packed, after I packed it (and no longer remember what box its in)headache:
when I was little we moved every 2 years so this makes move 14 (since I was 5). It never gets eaiser

For me it's the opposite. Mainly b/c we never do get a place quite big enough, so I'm eternally not as organized (despite the binders mentioned for your other thread) as I want to be...I want a place for everything and everything in its place, but I just don't have enough room!

I have had (I think) 23 addresses in 37 years (not counting hotels we have lived in for 1-3 months at a time waiting to get into a home). So, plenty of moving around. I don't really mind it. One thing--when you move a lot you tend not to accumulate junk. I see people with basements and garages filled with boxes and think they must nor have sorted through their things in decades:rotfl:

OP--you'll get through. It can be stressful when you are in the midst of it, I know:hug:

101 what? :)

I hate the unpacking, too. Figuring out the new cabinet layout in the kitchen and deciding what to put where, making it all fit. What a pain.

I don't mind the packing, but I let the movers do all that! :rotfl: I don't understand moving all the furniture to one room, though. How does that help them?
