I had some trouble with my GAD Fastpass last week-

So,
I used 2 vouchers for fastpasses on 2 different days, one at EPCOT and one at MK

Towards the end of the afternoon our first day at EPCOT my family wanted to go to Soarin' - we thought it would be a great way to end a hectic day.

When I got to the machines a lady said "no more fast passes today, they are all gone." I explained that I had the Special GAD fastpass and she said 'sorry' the tickets are gone and you have to wait in line. the line was 90 minutes

I was really upset and very grumpy so we left and rode on Spaceship Earth before we left the park. On my way out I wanted to talk to Customer relations/ will call to find out if I could extend the fastpass another day since I still had rides left on it .

The Woman at the window was sooo amazing and wrote me a paper voucher and said that CM was wrong and I should have been able to use the special machine especially for the special issue FP. We left the park and came back later in the evening to see IlluniNations and used FP for soarin'.

so.. if all the fastpasses are given out for the day you need to know that the GAD fastpasses are still available even when misinformed CM say the opposite it true.

Second problem. The FP machines at Space Mountain were Broken and the CM (MIKE) said that even with my special fastpass there was nothing I could do. I asked if I could use my card as my pass and he said 'no'- there are no fastpass machines working, not even the special one. I knew from my Epcot Experience that I still had FP priveleges. I walked around asking for Customer relations and was directed to Town Hall on Main St. I really did not want to walk there and leave my family so I kept asking attendants what to do. At the FP return line there was a woman who was able to write me a paper ticket FP for all 5 of us.

So.. be informed and if you do not get an answer you are looking for, ask someone else who may know.

Other than these 2 incidents the FP was worth every minute!!

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear you had troubles with your GAD fastpasses. Luckily it was only the 2 times! Glad you were able to get it straightened out.

Can you tell me what you get for fastpasses for the GAD and how it works? We will have 4 vouchers. Can we use one per day? How many fastpasses do you get per voucher?

Thanks! :goodvibes

I was able to straighten it out, but wanted to make sure others don't make the same mistake I did. LOL

You can use one voucher per day for everyone in your party. I was told 6 per voucher, but others have had more- I guess it depends on who your attendant is.

We were able to use the FP for 6 rides a day. The rides are divided into 2 catagories and you are able to pick 3 from each list.

MK we used, thunder mountain, Pooh, and Space MOuntain for one catagory and Jungle Cruise, and ???? for the others, I have forgotten!

At Epcot there were only 2 in the 1st catagory, Soarin and Fast Track, the other was the SpaceShip ride, Norway ride, Honey I shrunk the Audience (FP machines were turned off due to slow week) Nemo and I forgot the other choice.

I can see how the FP machines themselves not working presents something of an issue, and the CMs are probably not well trained on how to handle that with respect to GAD. But the simplest thing they could have done is take the FPXC as a "pass", and just made sure you didn't use it excessively.

Am I understanding this correctly?
One person in the party gets a GAD Fastpass & it's good for the day for the whole group up to 5 people for 6 or so rides????

Sooooo,
If our family of 4 all volunteered, we should each receive a GAD FP. Then, one day we use one of the passes & works for the whole group...Next day, redeem another pass & works for whole group, etc????

More properly, if you each volunteer you each get a GAD voucher. That is your entitlement to a free 1-day base ticket. If the person whose name is on the voucher is already in possession of a valid multi-day ticket when the redeem the voucher, they may choose one of several other options, one of which is the Give A Day Fastpass Exchange Cards.

One person turning in a voucher can get a card for each member of their group (up to an advertised maximum of 6, although no one has reported being denied more), so long as every member of the group is present and has their park ticket. So, in your case, ONE of you turns in a voucher, along with their ID and multi-day ticket, and you'll get four FPXCs. See the link for the details of how those work.

Then you can do the same another day at a different (or the same) park.

I asked if I could just use my FP card as my ticket and they would not let me do it. I had to have a FP to give the attendant. I was able to get one written, but thankfully did not have to go to customer relations as I was told to do. There was a woman at FP Return that was able to write one up for me-she had some in her jacket pocket. I had to ask 6 people before I found her- all of them shrugged and said there was nothing I could do- the machine was broken.

Would the OP been better off asking the CMs who denied FP entry to call their lead, saving the need to troop over to Guest Relations? I doubt I'd do either - too much stress and hassle on vacation. Thanks to the OP for posting so others will be informed if it happens to them.

Right, I understood that - I was just saying that they could have handled it simply by doing as you suggested...but also, like I said, they probably had no training on what to do about GAD Fastpasses if the system was completely kaput.
