I had a Disney budget nightmare!

Literally, a nightmare about our trip in 2 weeks! I dreamed we'd been there for 3 days, just lounging around not going to any parks. Then I realized I forgot to pack all of our paperwork, tickets, travel guides, etc! I was in a panic when I realized we'd missed our PS, the MNSSHP and 2 park days! :earseek: Crying that our vacation was ruined because I forgot to bring all of our stuff that held the schedules.

It was quite a relief to wake up & know it didn't really ruin our trip. Guess I'm more anxious to make it a great trip than I thought! :teeth:

Anyone else having pre-trip jitters?

About ten years ago we decided to do our first cruise and WDW vacation. We had planned for over a year. The night before we left the file with the birth certificates was gone. We stayed up all night and tore the house apart.

In the morning we called the cruise line to ask them what we should do. They said to come anyway and explain our situation once we arrived but there was no guarantee they would allow us to board.

Our time at WDW was overshadowed by the looming potential problems getting on the cruise. As in turned out the let us get on with other ID (needless to say this wouldn't have been possible after 9/11). We had a great time.

I am now very careful with our paperwork and constantly recheck to make sure we have it.

Another real life fiasco....

My honey is such the anal retentive one. You should see her record keeping.....OMG! :earseek: Anyway, we had purchased over $700 in Disney Dollars as part of our savings plan for our Disney trip. They were stored away in my honey's safe. I had no fear that my semi-money nutty anal retentive honey would forget to grab the Disney Dollars.

Our checklist was gone over and over several times before we hit the road from Atlanta to Deland, where her family lives. We were to stay with her family for a few days and then go to WDW. So, we get almost down to Valdosta, which is almost at the Florida border and I jokingly ask "You did get the Disney Dollars out of the safe right?" A few explatives later, we turned the car around and headed back home to get them. I was actually laughing about it, I mean I wasn't going to let it ruin the vacation, but it cost me gas money that I wasn't planning to spend as well as a day for my honey to spend time with her family.

So, moral of the story....please, if you have Disney Dollars for your trip, put a reminder to grab them on your packing checklist!

I keep having those types of dreams as well! That we get there and are just laying around doing NOTHING and IM freaking out to my family lets go lets go and they are like eh we have the time! Then before we know its our last day and we haven't seen anything! ughhh

I always have nightmares as the trip gets closer. I now include "vouchers, tickets, gift cards, etc." right on the packing list. I keep a generic packing list in the computer and add to it/customize it for each trip. It is amazing how easy it is to forget something important.

So I'm not the only one who has these dreams? I keep getting on the airplane and not having my ticket, or getting to Florida and realizing I forgot my folder with EVERYTHING (tickets, con. #'s, food vouchers, maps, etc) in it. Last night we made it to MK but I never got through the gate as I had to keep going back to the car for some forgotten item. Must be a build up from the stresses of planning the whole trip.

It's good to know I'm not the only one...my mom's nuts and I'm hoping it's not hereditary! (Mom, I love you)

I think the best way to set aside these dreams is to put the stuff in your carry-on NOW!

You are not going to leave with out your carry-on bag.

That is my greatest fear too....that I will get to the park and not have my tickets. I pack them, and the money, and the confirmation paperwork (PS, rental car, hotel, air) about three days to a week ahead.

I have a zipped carry on bag (sort like a beach bag) that I take on every trip that I leave in my closet year round. Whenever I receive something, i.e., confirmations, etc., I put them in the bag and then several times before the trip, I go through the bag and check to see if I have everything and reconfirm all reservations. The one thing I did leave behind once was my cosmetic bag which had all the essentials, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodarant, etc. I thought DH had put it in the car and low and behold we left it behind. Had to rebuy those items once we got there. I'll never forget that again. Now, I make sure I'm the last one out the door and all the luggage and carry on items are put by the door the night before we travel.
