I Got Work to Pay for My DISNEY FEASTS w/PICS! COMPLETED 11/14 - Whispering Canyon

Still loving these reviews. I love the beignets at POFQ but, yes, they are hollow - I never realised they weren't supposed to be :confused3

And I let Big Guy have a little fun too...

IMG_1733a.jpg

Yep, that's a bowl of powdered sugar and a spoon... shortly before bedtime... what was I thinking?

I'm afraid I don't have much to report on for Wednesday, conferences mostly. (Though I did have another All-American, no tomatoes, from the Earl of Sandwich... good as last time!)

But for dinner on Wednesday, we did regroup and have fun at the Polynesian...

Stay tuned for my review of 'Ohana!

Love this pix. During our last trip my DD would eat all the chocolate frosting off the cake and that was all that she ate the WHOLE trip.

Well, I suppose on the bright side, since they're hollow, they're fewer calories than they initially look! :lmao:

She has good taste! :goodvibes

Chef Mickey's - Big Guy's Birthday Dinner

Saturday, July 11, 2009

IMG_1193a.jpg

Big Guy was 6 years old this day! Big Guy's birthday cupcake! It had cute little chocolate Mickey on it! Of course, Big Guy did some more gobbling... and he didn't realize at first that the Mickey was edible, but when we told him, he gobbled that too. ;)

Can I ask did you order the cupcake or did they bring it out. We are going tomorrow:banana::banana: and have CM ressie for Sat Aug 22 for DS 4th Birthday

TIA

Just tell them when you check in at the podium. They should bring you a cupcake! Have Fun!

Ha! I got mine at Ross too! (But here in North Carolina) I get most of my clothes there because of the low prices on quality clothing! I love that top!

I've got a few that are the same brand but different colors/patterns. I can accidentally leave them in the dryer overnight and they simply don't wrinkle! Great blouses to pack in a suitcase and not worry about! :thumbsup2

I'm in NC too just outside Charlotte

Thanks for sharing your review (and family) with us!

Your boys are darling!

I really want that steak from LeChefs

Wow! You people respond fast!

When I made the ADR for Big Guy's birthday, I made sure they noted that it would be his birthday. When I got to the podium, they confirmed: party of 4, 2 adults, 2 kids, and a 6 year old birthday celebration. I didn't even have to ask!

There, the cupcakes are apparently automatic to the birthday people! And they brought out all the birthday cupcakes at the same time to the birthday people at different tables.

Chef Mickey's is a great place to celebrate a kid's birthday! Enjoy! :goodvibes

I'm in Charlotte! The eastern side, near the Cabarrus border. Our community was just annexed this June... so yay, we get to pay more taxes... :headache:

At least we're originally from NY, so we know higher taxes here are still better than higher taxes there... ;)

Glad you're enjoying the review!

My boys are quite expressive in photographs... totally not shy around a camera. :goodvibes

I can't wait to go back for that beefy goodness in France next month! Dessert there ain't too shabby either! :thumbsup2

To think, I really just went to Chefs so the boys could see Remy... I'm glad they did (and glad I did), but had it not been for Remy, we would have never tasted that insanely good food that we now have to return for again! (Even if Remy is not there when we are...)

'Ohana Dinner... without the Nuts

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

After my conference that morning, and a brief trip to the MK, we hopped on the monorail to the Polynesian, and made our way over to...

IMG_1807a.jpg

We were shown to our table, and I told our waiter that Big Guy has a minor nut allergy. By minor, I mean he has to actually ingest nuts to show any reactions... and it's rare. He's thrown up or got a bad stomach ache within 30 minutes of having a brownie (that we didn't realize had walnuts in it), an unknown type of cookie once, and a chocolate banana muffin that the lady who provided it unfortunately forgot to say that it was actually a chocolate banana nut muffin. :sad2:

We didn't want any tummy problems this trip... so I told our waiter.

Well, he brought out the chef.

Nut-free dinner at 'Ohana pretty much means no bread with the macademia nut butter, no peanut sauce (one of three sauces brought to the table), and no dessert (nuts apparently in the pineapple bread pudding).

Not bad, actually... lots of food, so not starting with bread would be ok. Big Guy wasn't very experimental, so didn't worry about him wanting to try a peanut sauce, and he's not into pineapple, so not a problem for dessert.

We started with salad...

IMG_1799a.jpg

Note Little Guy's empty plate... Big Guy's remained empty at this point too. They don't eat anything green... except green apples (which is probably Big Guy's favorite fruit).

Then we got some noodles...

IMG_1801a.jpg

Big Guy pretty much had most of his meal on noodles. I guess that means he likes them. ;)

Hubby did too.

Little Guy... didn't want to try.

Me? I tried... their ok... I'm honestly not a big noodle person to begin with though.

And we had the other appetizers... honey coriander chicken wings & pork dumplings.

IMG_1800a.jpg

Oh my... FABULOUS! I loved them both, but especially the dumplings! Hubby agreed... we got seconds.

The kiddos, again, didn't care to be experimental.

We also had broccoli... which was ok... broccoli is broccoli... No, the kiddos didn't want any.

Then came the meat. Big Guy did have some turkey and/or pork (can't quite remember), but we couldn't get Little Guy to eat anything, so we finally asked for his old standby... chicken nuggets... and french fries... how exciting... :sad2:

Here's my plate...

IMG_1803a.jpg

I had pork (kinda dry, but decent flavor), turkey (decent), and steak... I LOVED the steak! Fantabulous! :cloud9: Got seconds... and thirds on the steak. So did hubby! We had very similar feelings... unlimited steak? No brainer! Go for it!

Hubby appears happy, dontcha think?

IMG_1802a.jpg

Then came the dessert... (as if we weren't stuffed already!)

IMG_1804a.jpg

This is just a portion of the full plate they brought out of a whopping load of pineapple bread pudding with a canteloupe-size scoop of vanilla ice cream. And bananas foster sauce was on the side, but this sauce, IMHO, really makes this dessert superb! :goodvibes

Hubby had a little ice cream off it, but like BG, he's not into pineapple. We gave some to LG, but I think he was pretty full from his nuggets and fries and didn't care to have much.

Me? I couldn't let such a dessert go to waste! (By the way, after two years of weighing myself at least weekly, I still haven't been back on the scale since before this trip... over a month ago...)

As for Big Guy, the chef couldn't let him go without dessert! So he made a special nut-free birthday treat and brought it out himself...

IMG_1805a.jpg

I think Big Guy's tummy was kinda full of noodles... and he just started going through this weird phase where he doesn't like chocolate syrup on his ice cream. So I helped get rid of some of the chocolate syrup ;) and he ate some of the plain ice cream, with a little nibble or two of the cookies.

The presentation was fabulous though, dontcha think?

We'd like to go back, and if it works out on a future trip, we will. I think we'd get regular kids meals for both the boys though. And we know to not waste our appetite with salad and broccoli when there is unlimited steak, wings, dumplings... and for me, pineapple bread pudding with bananas foster sauce a la mode! :thumbsup2

The next day, we'd be at Hollywood Studios, so we didn't really care about quick service places there... do you blame us?

So we planned to maybe try a few snacks and get some lunch at Sci-Fi Diner!

Stay tuned to read my next report...

Thanks for the wonderful reviews!

I was wavering between lunch or dinner at Chefs but after seeing that steak its got to be dinner. That looked so good.

great update...enjoying your reviews:surfweb:

Thanks! Maybe... just maybe... I'll post some more... ;)

That special dessert is adorable!

I thought that was so sweet! We actually just asked for a bowl of plain ice cream, and the chef insisted on bringing him something "special."

Thanks for the wonderful reviews!

It's so hard to figure out meals when you don't just have to consider the restaurant, but also the time of day, isn't it?

Yeah, I highly recommend dinner... not that I've been to lunch there, but dinner is just so good!

I have always wondered if you could get seconds on the dumplings. Thanks for answering that for me. Loving the reviews!

OP great reviews.. :thumbsup2

Ohana looks delicious! It's going to be our first dinner... Looks like it's going to be a good one!
