::yes:: Yes, I got the job! I took my grandmother shopping today and when I came in from the car I thought I'd check to see the time on my cell, well there was a voice mail waiting, I called and it was the corporate office calling to offer me the job!!! :bounce:
I'm so excited, I have to go in Monday to get my file started, and to be finger printed and drug tested, fun, fun! Then the manager of the location I'll be working for will call me to schedual my first day.
I'm anxious and happy all in one. I'm really looking forward to this position as it's one I'll actually be doing something worthwhile in. I'm going to be a "house mamma" as my friend refered to it as, I'll be the sole person in a home for 12 girls ages 10-14 yrs old overnights at a Children's Home. I just hope the girls like me and we all get along. :teeth:

Congratulations!! And good luck, that won't be an easy job! My neice was in a Children's Home for awhile and she is a messed up kid (thanks to her mom)!

Congratulations. Do research on things that girls that age like so that you are able to communicate with them on their level and of things that they are interested in.

Good for you! My aunt was a "house mother" for over 30 years! Let me know if you need some "advice".

Congrats and good luck! I worked in that field for awhile and you will run into some kids with sad stories and who have been abused on several levels. Just remember you are their guide toward figuring out a better way to live. Be ready to set up boundries, becasue abused kids want to get very close (I will say it, they get clingy), and it is up to you to help steer them in the right direction. They need to learn independence. It is very challanging but rewarding. You are making an impact at a pivital age. Oh yes and they get very boy crazy normally at that age and it is worse for these kids! Have fun and be prepared, you may run into some very angry kids- roll with it and don't ever take it personally. Anyone who is angry will take it out on a person they feel is "safe" so you can consider it a badge of honor!

Congratulations and Good Luck :bounce:

I guess I'm lucky to not be too removed from the things these girls might enjoy since I'm only 23yrs old (did I just say ONLY, yikes I'm 23 already...lol), I also have a teenage sister and a 9 yr old brother. I figure this may help as they may think of me more as an older sister than just an employee, which the CH encourages friendship but boundaries. My Fiance works with children in a similar setting except his "kids" are in a treatment facility for anger, emotional and mental issues, run more like an institution. He says sometimes it is hard to remain not too involved but he also says it's very rewarding and I've seen this stone of a man cry tears of joy when the kids achieve a milestone or get to go home. I'm very excited about being able to help them as well. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!

Great news Darlene ~ Congrats on your new job.
