I didn't want to say anything in another thread, but after six months and 11 days from my last college course, I have a JOB!

This isn't a contract position either-- a full benefits position.

Now, part of me is very sad that I am not teaching. As part of my schooling, I was enrolled in a dual major program- and it was the non-teaching major that got me the job. Teaching positions are so difficult to come by and the aspect of yet another long term sub position was just getting old... I didn't want to be waiting it out just to find out that the district levy didn't pass so I couldn't get offered a full time positon.

Since December 20th, 2008, I have been on 10 teaching interviews, two contract based interviews, one banking interview, one secretarial interview, one social services interview and LOTS of rejections. This is not including two federal job interviews...

I have over 10 written rejections-- and almost 40 email rejections.

My fed position interview was 4 hours long-- and it was worth the wait.

I have to cancel my Disney trip and cruise, but it is worth it..

You do realize how rare that statement is around here, don't you?! (good for you, for doing the right thing)

Congrats on the new job!

:yay:Congrats to you!!!!:yay:

Now I know it isn't teaching but I know of a history teacher who is a manager at Applebee's. Working is good.:goodvibes

Congratulations. I'm sorry you had such a hard time finding a teaching position. Hopefully this will be something you will like. :grouphug:

I like benefits and a full time salary.. no teaching district in a four county radius could do that...

as long as its not working at the post office, I am happy for you! Congrats:)

Congrats, I am so happy you found a fed job!

Thanks again for all your help... your explanations help me navigate the application process and interpreting scores. I appreciate your helpfulness!

What is it?

LOL,
my dd don't like people knowing that she works for the Feds either.
She actually took down her Facebook and MySpace pages.

I'm glad you got the job, it took my dd over a year.
I forgot how long it took and the 4 hour interview.
Our neighborhood was questioned about our dd too.
A retired FBI agent came around and asked questions,
that was fun. Most didn't know our dd, because she was gone 6 years, and we had a lot of new neighbors.

Congratulations on landing a good job in tough economic times!!! :thumbsup2

Altho it may not be your first choice, but it will be great to have the finanical security and bennies. Our SIL went to work for gov. right out of college 20 yrs ago, they've sent him to lots of training, he's had several promos, and let's say he's very very comfortable.
Good luck! :shamrock:
