I got DVC discounted cash ressie @9 1/2 months out!

OK, so this really surprised me. I was on the phone with MS this afternoon, getting our blue member cards, which still have not come even after 8 months as DVC members, and just for the fun of it, I have the CM check to see iof there are any DVC discounted cash ressies available for Veterans' Day weekend. We already have a points ressie, but 58 pts for a BWV std view 2BR each weekend nite, was looking pricy compared to the potential of $545 less 25% member discount (plus 11% tax, ends up at roughly $454, for an arbitrage potential of $91 per weekend nite -$182 for the stay- assuming $10 a pt).

Well, mirabile dictu and bless my soul, they had a member discount 2BR available for me! It took some doing to hold onto the std view, and make sure that all the ressies for all five nites were attached to each other so we would not have to move, and to double check everything... but we managed to get it. The exceptionally knowledgable and helpful CM was equally surprised to see cash availability this far in advance, so I am guessing that bookings for Veterans' Day are still fairly open (just a hint for you 7 month folks, it seems there might be some decent availability at BWV for you).

So there you go. You never know until you ask. I just wanted to share that with you all.

I am still fairly knew to DVC and although I have made a points reservation, I haven't yet located the information about discount cash reservations. Where do I find this perk info and the discount prices? Sounds like a great thing.

Yes, this cash discount thing is strange and wonderful, ain't it? I stumbled upon something similar back in Septemeber when making ressies 11 mos out for our August 2004 trip. We planned to stya 8 nts at BWV, but thought a "first night" at BCV might be nice to kick off our trip (and enjoy some SAB time!) Well, they didn't have a 2 br for cash discount... but oddly enough, DID have a studio AND a 1br! So I have those now on hold for us at the DVC discount. WHen I called about 1 week ago to check on availability of a 2 br, they still didn't have one available. It kinda boggles my mind, since I would think that studios and 1 brs would move faster than 2br rooms, but they're the DVC masterminds, not me.

In any case, even getting 2 separate rooms is cheaperthan reanting the pts (it's a Sat night stay!) and cheaper than 2 rooms at a deluxe, so we're stickin' with it, unless we can get a 2 br! I believe when I called they actually had a 2br at BWV, had we wanted it, for cash -- but we're stickin' to our guns and holding out for BCV! (Now if it RAINS that Sat/Sun and SAB is closed -- won't we feel like idiots?!? Just have to hope for sun and enjoy our meals at Cape May, I guess!!)
