When I checked my email this morning there was a very nice email from Amy from BC Itinerary Planning Office - she was able to book us a Breathless illuminations cruise for the day I requested :D

I am really looking forward to it - a surprise for my daughter - would like to hear from anyone who has sailed on Breathless for the illuminations - what was it like?

Thanx

Actually I have never been on it, but I have been close to it three times and it is gorgeous. The first two times, I saw it tied up at the Yacht Club dock when I was getting on lluminations cruises in past years. Then the last time I took an Illumimations cruise was last fall. There were ten of us on our boat. We were a noisy and fun group.

After we parked under the International Bridge, the Breathless pulled up and parked just next to us. There were only two passengers. I would guess that they were on a honeymoon or anniversary trip. It looked very romantic and like they were having a great time.

We treated my parents to Breathless many years ago. It was great, that boat can really move. One of the most exciting rides we had that trip. My mom who isn't into the E ticket thrills loved the speed of the boat. We had a nice cruise all over the water way near Epcot, BW area, and MGM. The captain gave us numerous facts about plans for the area, ie-Fantasmic information before it opened, and also some info on a Magic restauant that never ended up opening. We then got front row seats for illuminations. Very memorable. Enjoy!

A couple of those young CMs I have seen driving the boats are very cute. grin

But then there are some girl captains and a few older men that aren't that cute. :D :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We sailed on the Breathless last April and it was a major highlight of our trip. My mom still talks about it. First, it is a beautiful boat, very low and sleek in the water. You pick it up right by the Yacht Club and I can remember sitting there with the kids waiting for our time (Illuminations) and just thinking how pretty it was. The boat is FAST and our driver gave the kids a lot of thrills. He said he could not go that fast due to rules but he did go very fast during the cruise before Illuminations. It was thrilling because you sit so low in the water. The best thing about the Breathless was the Illuminations view. Since the Breathless is so low and small in comparison to the pontoon boats it goes right to the front of the boats lined up for Illuminations. The best view you could possibly have! We felt very special in that beautiful boat.

>>^..^<<,

Question for you--how do you book this? I've never heard of it before. We're staying at the Poly in Sept and would love to do something special with our girls.

Is it only available through BC?

Thanks for any info.

Hi - cleokitty - I used to have a calico cat named Cleo.

Breathless can be booked for cruises all day long - but the illuminations one is hard to get - obviously as it only happens once a night and it is highly desirable!

There are other pontoon boats and you can even do meals, drinks on them as well - like a floating party:D

I booked mine through the concierge where I am staying - but everyone can book them through the regular WDW number 90 days ahead. The illuminations cruise is around 200.00USD

Have fun planning your holiday

That's funny. We have five cats and not one of them is named Cleo! We just love Cleo and Figaro and I forgot the "&" between Cleo & Kitty when I selected my user id-LOL.

Thanks for the info. I just called WDW for more info and she said to make sure I call at 7am 90 days out or I would probably be out of luck! My husband and kids would be so surpised!

Thanks again!

Cassie,
Good for you. Can't wait to see the pictures. Hopefully the captain is good looking.

Cass,

That sounds so wonderful. We have seen the Breathless and it is beautiful. We will be at the Beach Club for my birthday so if anyone sees my DH, clue him in that this would be a nice birthday surpise for me. Hint...Hint....;)

That sounds awesome!! Congrats!

Can't wait to hear all about it!

You & Your DD will LOVE it! We have taken "Breathless" out numerous times, mostly for spins around the lake. My DF has his own "Breathless" (same exact model...vintage 1930 Mahogany Cris Craft Runabout). The BREATHLESS is actually a 1934 repo of the above. It's amazingly fast, and exhilerating!

*The captain will ask you "where" you two wish to sit. You may select either up front (which is directly behind him) or in the back (more secluded/private). Ed is one of the BEST Captains. He usually describes the show (as each year is a little different), and then steps up and OUT of the boat...giving you two a MAGICAL TIME TOGETHER! Very classy guy, great driver. Afterward, he'll offer the option to get "wet or SOAKED"...it's all up to you! :p

Be sure they include some "power slides" (The captain will know what these are) down in the little lake by MGM. It makes the boat ride one of the BEST ATTRACTIONS in all of WDW!

American Express offers a 10% discount when you use their card. Also, arrive EARLY, as they will sweep you both away for EXTRA~FREE boat time! We always exceed the time allowance, and tip $20 for the Illuminations cruise. Enjoy! ;)

Hi Dreamflight - thanx for the tip! I am really looking forward to it - keeping my fingers crossed for good weather - does illuminations ever get rained out?

>>^..^<<

Congrats on getting the Cruise you wanted :)

I'm just going to pop this over to Theme Parks, Attractions and Strategies though - they talk about Illuminations Cruises all the time, infact they always have a thread on the go for people trying to hook up and share them.

Anyhow, you should get plenty of feedback from people who have already done the cruise over there :)

I'm not sure if Illuminations ever gets cancelled but the cruises do. Last year it was raining on the day we had booked the cruise but we headed over to the BW anyway. The captain had to wait for clearance from somewhere before we headed out. Luckily he got the go-ahead (even though it was still raining) but he got it fairly late so we didn't get much of a "cruise" before Illuminations. It rained the whole time - we just used our umbrellas & it was still fun. Hope you have great weather & lots of fun :).

To me, the best thing about breathless isn't the illuminations cruise, it is going in the middle of the day in your bathing suit and asking the captain to tear it up - it is the best ride - fastest and wettest, in wdw by far.

On VERY RARE occasions. Usually, NEVER! But, as someone posted....the cruise has a better chance of getting cancelled due to lightening/heavy rain. So, hope for clear skies and great weather. ;)

As I posted earlier...the captain will offer you the choice of "getting soaked" or just "wet" after the show ends. If you decide to "get soaked", be sure to wear some clothes you don't mind getting wet! Too bad you were not staying at one of the Epcot resorts during this visit...you could just slip into your room/suite to change. This is what we usually do, as I LOVE all the whips, power slides, turns and tricks the captain performs (Which usually leaves us SOAKED!). :p My DF does NOT drive his runabout as wildly as these dudes will. Just lay back with DD...relax...and LAUGH LIKE CRAZY! :earseek:

Have a WONDERFUL TIME, and be sure to tell us all about it upon return. :sunny:
