Do you prefer to buy things listed as"buy it now" or bid on auctions?

It depends on what it is. I have bought many things with a Buy It Now if I knew it was a good price. Some people don't know what they have and the Buy It Now is terrific. Other things, the buy it now is to expensive and I'll bid.

If I really want something though I plan on being online within the last 30 seconds of bidding. If not over half the time you will lose the item to a last minute bidder. Its very rare that you bid on something with say 3 or 4 days left and end up winning it.

I love ebay!!!

I'm loading items now,and I really appreciate your opinion!

cya on eBay!!!!!!!

airhead,
What is your user name? PM me if you don't want to post it here.

I prefer Buy It Nows because I'm too lazy to chase behind auctions.. :p

But I WILL snipe an item if I want it bad enough!

I don't like Buy It Nows on popular items......seems like the BIN price is usually higher than ending auction prices. A few days ago I placed a bid on a BIN auction that had a reserve. The person didnt get the reserve price but did send me a 2nd chance offer for the price I bid......basically they wasted money putting on a BIN and reserve price and then accepting my lower bid. Not sure why they would do that but hey I got the item and at my price. :p

....atleast $10 less than you'll find in shops. I never increase or decrease the price so I like to list them as BIN items.

Buy it now is good if you want it right away. It is agonizing to have to wait several days to see if you win an item.
Just make sure your buy it now price is high enough. Research how much the same item sold for by doing a search of "completed items".
Good luck. :)

OMG! I just realized that is how you got your DIS username, you are an airbrush artist.
You should put a link to your "seller's item list" under your DIS signature, so that we can see your art. :)

If the Buy It Now is reasonable and/or I need the item soon then I prefer to use Buy It Now. I am not a good sniper at all.

I "buy it now" if its something I really want and its a decent price. If I want it but can live without it and want it cheaper I bid. And if its not a buy it now and I must have it, I will snipe it.

We're actually not allowed to. We can post our eBay names, but we're not allowed to keep a link to our sales in our sigs.

I only use BIN if it's something I really want and the price is fair, or if the auction ends when I won't be home/awake. Otherwise I prefer to wait it out, since the auction usually ends lower than the BIN.

...That's not allowed. I'm more than happy to tell you my Ebay name, just PM me!

pw2pp----I hope you weren't thinkin' I was describing my state of mind!!!!! LOLOLOL!!

Katerkat is right .... That's not allowed
Aw, that's too bad, it's not like you're selling Vacations to Disney or something like that. ;)

Speaking of eBay, I just "sniped" 3 auctions last night for Tapes of my favorite show, "American Dreams". It has already ended for the season and I am going through withdrawls. :)

It's not because of the competition, the boards can't be used to "advertise" auctions, so to speak, otherwise everyone, including myself, would do it!
