For those of us on the Magic this Saturday (2/14/04) we get a special treat. A rocket launch is scheduled for Saturday, with the window starting at 1:21pm and closing 5:20pm. It's a Titan IVB which is the largest rocket the US has. I normally wouldn't go to get on board until after 2pm, but deck 9 or 10 aft is one of the best places on earth to watch rockets launch, and I'll be there!!!

What a great way to start a 7-day cruise!

That is going to be very cool. I hope I can see one launch someday.

Have a great cruise!!

That is soooooo cool! I wish we'd get to see something like that. I used to live in Florida and saw a couple of shuttle launches, one at night, and they were breathtaking. It would be wonderful for my husband to get to experience something like this. Is there some sort of schedule, or anything I can look up to see when/if there may be some sort of launch (I realize not the shuttle) while we are in port?

I just checked the web site and see that there is a scheduled launch for those of us on the March 20 Eastern to watch. I'm excited. Is it really a good view from the ship?

We could see the space shuttle on the launch pad when we cruised. It was a few miles away, but the view of an actual launch should be fantastic from the ship.

When we were on the Wonder in Feb 2002 we were to see the shuttle launch on the Thursday morning we arrived back at the port. The launch was scheduled for 6:30AM... Everyone on board was so excited because the view of the launch pad when the ship is in port could not be any better!!! The captain announced that sunny morning that the launch was cancelled!!! But why we wondered???

It was cancelled because it was 30 degrees that morning!!! I never knew that it could get that cold in FLA....We just could not believe that it could be that cold on the only day that we would ever have a chance to see a shuttle launch....!

Instead of putting our layers of clothing on when we arrived in Boston we wore it on the way to MCO...

Sounds like a great way to start a cruise. Have a great time.

I was able to find a April 16th Launch of an Atlas 2AS. I was going down a day early before my cruise on the 18th already. I guess that I might be gettin down there another day earlier to see the launch. What a great start to My First Disney Cruise!!!!::yes::
