Interesting experience last week on my most recent trip - in dozens of stays over the years, I've never found self-serve luggage carts at Saratoga Springs - it was always Bell Services would bring luggage to you. When I parked at Building 1 of Congress Park on arrival, there was no luggage cart anywhere public, and I hauled 5 pieces of luggage up to the 3rd floor myself on 2 very heavily laden trips. I'm accustomed to that. But on my 3rd day out of 5, a luggage cart appeared directly in front of my room. I can only guess those checking in at the room next door had requested or used it - not sure where it came from - because my room was at the end of one of the wings, I think it was easily forgotten or overlooked, so it stayed there for the next two days. When it came time for me to check out and load up my car, I packed all my luggage, lumped it by the door, and prepared to make 2 trips down - but opening the door, I found the cart was still sitting there. Which made it wonderfully convenient bringing down my luggage and loading the car in a single trip. When I was done, I put the cart in the recessed area next to the stairs and across from the elevators - either someone else might find it there and use it, or staff would easily see it and return it to wherever it usually hides. I admit I wish it was a 'thing' to have some carts residing in that spot by the stairs for guests to use when unpacking the car - especially if you have luggage for two, a cooler, some bags of groceries, camera equipment, etc. Even when I go solo, I generally need to make 2 trips, and with more people, it can be 3 or 4.
I never really thought about the lack of luggage carts there before in all my stays - since I had never seen one, it wasn't missed. But having this one magically appear by my room and be there for checkout, it's now something i'd really like. Does anyone know if they're typically stored somewhere 'backstage' in the cleaning crew quarters of each building where you could request one on arrival to the building? Or was this a one-time fluke where someone got one off Bell Services and just left it in the hallway?
