And let me tell you, it took me hours!!

I did a double 12x12 layout of pictures of friends called "You've Gotta Have Friends". I spent 2 evenings cropping the pictures (almost straight), matting them, and doing the embellishments. It was so involved!

Tell me it goes faster when you get more experience. At the rate I'm going, I'll be in an old age home before the book gets finished!

Well, it actually goes slower for me now that I know more! :p The more I learn and the more pages I do, the slower it is to get them done as I analyze every last detail and want to put more of this or that on it! It actually takes me quite awhile to do a layout now! I am so picky about everything...it used to be I would just slap a page together and stick it in the book, but not anymore!! LOL

:):)

Congratulations!
I tend to do simple pages. I do it more for the journaling than the artistic side. I save involved, embellished pages for pictures or events that call for it or if I just HAVE to try a new technique!;)
As you do more it will go faster and ideas will come to you faster also.

It will get faster for the most part as you get more experience. The basics become sort of second nature and you're more comfortable with the equipment. Also as already mentioned you'll know when the layout needs to be more extravagant and when simple will do.

The other thing is that you'll probably find yourself working in spurts - when the ideas come so fast you can hardly keep up. And when you draw a blank...SCRAPLIFT!

When I started scrapping I couldn't understand why a friend of mine who got me into this  had shelves of magazines and idea books. Now I do! It can really help.

BTW girls - I picked one up this weekend published out of Australia that has a really awesome idea for a "girls" page. You know one cool, enlarged photo of DD and friends? or you and your girlfriends if you're doing that era of your life!

PM me if you're interested and I'll describe provide reference.
