I find it sad that we live in a world where only the super rich are interested in space and sci fi

Jeff Bezos saved "The Expanse"

Elon Musk is pushing rocket technology forward while other American companies are using Russian made rockets.

Tim Cook with a net worth of 1.4 billion gave us "For All Mankind" and "Foundation" through Apple.

What about the "millionaires"? What are they doing? Why don't we see any millionaires interested in "The Expanse"? Why don't we see any millionaires speaking up for sci fi? Are they too busy thinking about mansions and yachts? Are they caught up in the "reality show" culture?

What happened to our spirit of adventure? We needed something like this back in 2014.

People struggling to survive, people working paycheck to paycheck, etc, (because instead of helping people out the billionaires are trying to one up each other in space,) don't have the luxury to think about this crap. It seems very shallow to me, and I think they should be ashamed of their greedy selves.

I think as far as interest, NASA and the Space Force will continue to gain support in careers in the space industry. As space becomes monetized and militarized, citizen interest will increase. Billionaires are in it for monetary reasons while also trying to do a good deed for society. But unless an asteroid or aliens are coming towards earth, how many Earthings are saying we should spend billions of dollars on non military exploration? Most of our scientific reasons for exploring space comes down to a military justification as well. I’m not rich and I enjoy learning about space and enjoy Star Wars as well. :-)👨‍🚀🚀🛰

Here are some inspiring Star Trek episodes... at least ones that want to make you think about the moral of the story:

TOS = A Taste of Armageddon:

TOS = Let That Be Your Last Battlefield

TNG = Measure of A Man

I'm trying to decide which DS9 episode would be inspiring too...

That's how aviation started. Aviation was initially seen as a hobby for the rich and the daredevils. Then people started to see its uses for cargo (Postal service mainly) and only then came civil aviation and the general public started to have interest.

At the moment I think: Why should I want to be interested in space?

Do the Dutch have a space program?
