Just a plain iced one from the Swan/Dolphin though, so I know I still didn't get to taste them at there best as it wasn't hot...however....I feel like I've achieved one of life's milestones ;)

How interesting it is that you have never had a fresh hot Krispy Kreme doughnut. I guess we just take them for granted here. I remember sneaking out of the house during a sleep over to make an all girls trip to Krispy Kreme. Congratulations on a job well done!:jester:

It's true that they are 100 times better when fresh & warm. They announced 2 months ago that we will finally be getting one here. Can't wait!!

Hooray! Aren't they good? Yes, they are much better when they are warm.

My fave...glazed cream filled...yummy!

Our closest one is in Columbus, so I don't get them often, but I sure enjoy them when I do get them!

They just broke ground to build Massachusett's very first Krispy Kreme! I saw it on the news the other day. Unfortunately, this first one isn't close by, but I'm hopeful they'll build more eventually. Massachusetts is the home of Dunkin Donuts and another donut chain called HoneyDew Donuts. I live in a small town here and there are at least 4 donut shops with drive-thru windows :teeth:

We're going to VA for the holidays, so DH and I will make our yearly trip right to the Krispy Kreme store near his sister's house there, and get some glazed right off the conveyor belt! Mmmmmm...they melt in your mouth...

Having a Krispy Kreme in WDW is great, but nothing beats getting them hot out of the oven! :p

the best is going in and getting a free sample right off the conveyor belt. Melt in your mouth!

The first one in WNY was an hour away in Buffalo, we went to Buffalo to do some other things (museum and an indoor soccer game) and stopped and waited in a LONG line about a month after they opened. They built one here in Henrietta, and I was there at 4 or 5 am to get in line the day they opened. They had local RIT student who had camped out the whole night to be first.

They are building a second in Rochester area (in Greece). Now if they get one out near my work I will be in trouble because my bos would be there every day getting some.

Place the glazed in the microwave for 10 seconds. This is to die for!!!!! I'll never eat one cold or room temp. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

OK, I guess I am in the slim minority here, but I really DISLIKE Krispy Keme donuts. To me when people say they melt in your mouth, all I can think of is "butter" melting in my mouth, Yuk. I find them really greasy and the cold ones are just plain terrible.

I am a transplanted Canadian in North Carolina. So I dare not state my opinion here in NC. Give me a Canadian Tim Horton's donut anytime. (But, I really love that southern Sweet Tea!)

DisneyMad --

Glad you were finally introduced to the light , sweet sinful kk donut!! (I have to eat 2-3 just to feel like I've eaten one but I love them.) It is actually pretty cool to go into the oulet location to take a look at the operations. There is a huge rack of the dough that goes down a conveyor belt to be fried and finalled covered in the sugary glaze. Also if you go in you can have a free sample. My favorite is the creme filled chocolate glazed.

Seaspray -- You are correct about other locations opening. If there is demand I am sure other locations will open up. I am from Northern Ca. and the 1st one here opened up with great fanfare I was there opening weekend we went an hour early and there was already a huge line. Parking lot was full and we waited about an hour and a half. Now I can't believe we did it but it was kind of fun. That was about 2 1/2 to 3 years ago. The year after the first one opened up (about 30 minutes away from us.) Two more locations opened up the closest one to us is now about 15 minutes away. I am sure that the same thing will happen in your area. Crossing my fingers for you.

The portable Krispy Kreme store was here (FT Hood) 3-5 Dec giving free donuts to the soldiers. Needless to say there was always a line.

Well we just got invaded by Tim Horton's (owned by wendy's) here in Rochester area. I say invaded because they opened a bunch (5 or so) at once and are working on several more right now. One of the TWO in my town is right on a corner I drive through each day to work. I have stopped there several times and the only good thing about them is the bagels are pretty cheap (compared to Brueggers). The donuts I had were not all that good, taste like regular run of the mill donuts I could get at a supermarket. I will keep stopping by once in a while for a BAGEL on the way to work, but doubt I will be getting donuts from them again.

I like Krispy kreme because they are soft and airy, like good fresh bread. I think most donuts are too heavy and dense. And eating them hot is like eating choclate chip cookies while warm and gooey still. IMHO

So I guess everybody has thier own tastes and likes. But then again that's why there are all these companies around because of different tastes.

Oh yes I do love those doughnuts. Especially when they are hot. There was one across the street from my college and have been addicted ever since

Mmmm me too I even managed to get my hands on a warm one (well actually two) and they were just great. My mouth is just watering at the prospect of getting one just off the line....mmmmm:)

I guess growing up with Krispy Kreme, we'd sort of taken them for granted. I did several school fund raisers over the years - they were just a part of the culture. Now they've gotten a certain cachet and seem intent on world domination. When I drive by ours and that "Hot Donuts Now" sign is illuminated, it's like the car goes on autopilot and swings right into the drive-through.

Princessmomma, I like Tim Horton's just fine, by the way. And I'm glad you're a convert to sweet tea, too. There's an art to sweet tea, and not everyone can make it - I've been dissapointed more than once at that institutionalized stuff you get at some restaurants.

If you live outside the South (how so very sad), your best bet to find sweet tea might be a Chick-Fil-A. It's pretty good, but not as good as my Mamma's. A spoon would stand up in it.
