I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

I'm so glad you're going to the Halloween party at MK - it's so much fun! I've only been once with DH about 6 years ago but it was a BLAST! I love the Christmas one, but I think the Halloween one is much better. The parade is awesome too, you're going to love it, and your costume idea is TOO cute! Reid as Captain Hook will be adorable!!!!! You're lucky your DH will dress up, mine would NEVER! LOL!

Ooooh I love the costume ideas!! We went last year and I can honestly say BEST PARADE EVER!! i loved it! I was pochahontas, DH was Russell from UP, the DD were Jasmine, Rapunzel and Ariel. It was great..you will have so much fun!:thumbsup2

I'm glad you're getting a chance to do MNSSHP. That parade is one that I would absolutely love to see sometime!

I like the idea for the Halloween costumes, although I have to say I think Reid would have been an awesome Darth Vader.:lmao:

Yay!!!! I am so excited to hear about the Halloween party!!!

I'm really excited to go to the party! It has 2 of my favorite things: Halloween & Disney!

How fun! I wish mom could get the boys to meet some princesses and princes with her though. ;)

I'm working on it! I have talked to Reid about meeting some of the princesses. As of right now, he's saying he will go meet some this year. Now, let's just hope he doesn't change his mind when we're there. I may just get in line & not tell him who we're meeting.

I'm glad that I read all the way through before I replied because I was gonna jump in with

I'll make something for you! You should dress up as a family! It'd be such fun for Reid!!

And then, I read about your friend. :cheer2:

Awww, that is so sweet of you! Seriously, thank you for the offer. I would probably take you up on it if my friend didn't sew a lot.

I'm really excited to get to dress up with Reid.

OMG! I LOVE the costume idea!!!

Thank you! :goodvibes I'm excited about it. I think it fits us perfectly.

I am with you... why do all the costumes have to bee sooooo.... well you know. I dont' necessarily want to look like the fairy Godmother... but a sexy snow white? Pirates could be fun.. but again...:confused3

It's so frustrating! I have literally been researching possible costumes since March. :headache: I don't understand why they don't think that some women just want a nice, normal costume. :confused3

We are going to be a group of like 10 gals when we go... the idea was we all pick a different princess to dress as. Could work... in theory. There are quite a few princesses. My dd's sil is planning on a princess from the Kingdom Hearts game. Ok... not park or movie princess... but Kingdom Hearts is a Disney game, so it counts right? And it will be a bit more obscure...and I am certain no one else in the group will want to be it. Dd keeps asking her though... "is it appropriate" :rotfl2: Apparently, even my 21 year old dd shares our opinion on costumes.

That's going to be fun with such a large group. I really like the idea of everyone being a different princess.

That's funny that your dd keeps asking about the appropriateness. Makes me feel like I'm not an old prude after all. :rotfl:

Oh... and you are going on 9/30? :rotfl2: I am pretty sure that is when our tickets were purchased for. (the gal our group in the other room bought our tickets) I just know we are going to run into each other.

Yay! :woohoo: I agree....I really do think our paths will cross! How exciting! :yay: Be on the look out for Wendy, Peter & Hook! And you'll have to let me know which princess you'll be dressing up as.

As for the party... I am also VERY VERY excited about the parade!!!

This parade looks fantastic, right? The video on YouTube even got Reid excited. And for Reid to be excited about a parade....well, that says A LOT! :rotfl:

We've done the Christmas party & enjoyed it. But, I do think we're going to like the Halloween party more. I'm so excited to finally get to experience it.

Thank you - I'm excited about our costume theme. Reid is so excited to be Hook because he'll get to "sword fight with Daddy" & "capture Mommy". :rotfl2: I know Ed loves me & Reid because normally he would never dress in a Halloween costume. Didn't you say your DH is an engineer, too? Sometimes, it takes a little bit to break them out of their comfort zone & let loose. :lmao:

Ooooh I love the costume ideas!! We went last year and I can honestly say BEST PARADE EVER!! i loved it! I was pochahontas, DH was Russell from UP, the DD were Jasmine, Rapunzel and Ariel. It was great..you will have so much fun!:thumbsup2

Thank you! I'm so excited for the parade. If that's all I do that night, I'll still be happy. What great costumes y'all had! :thumbsup2 I think we're going to have a blast. :goodvibes

I'm glad you're getting a chance to do MNSSHP. That parade is one that I would absolutely love to see sometime!

I'm really excited about the party. I like parades but they're normally not a must-do for me. But, this one just seems fantastic!

I like the idea for the Halloween costumes, although I have to say I think Reid would have been an awesome Darth Vader.:lmao:

Thank you! He is still talking about when he can be Darth Vader. I told him he could be that next year. He would be an awesome Vader - he constantly practices his "Darth Vader breathing". :rotfl2:

Amanda...do not stress on the crowds. I went one year on Halloween...totally manageable! I haven't decided whether HRH & I will do the party. We have a 730am flight Monday morning....still figuring our plans out!!!! Love the costumes, so great Ed will dress up! :cloud9:

I love your costumes! How fun! The Halloween party looks SO amazing, I would love to go sometime. I think I am going to look up the parade and check it out.

I'm sure you will have an awesome time, I will be excited to read about it!

ETA I started my TR!

The Halloween Party is SO much fun!!!! You are going to love it.

The parade is just awesome .... don't miss the headless horseman and don't forget to watch Hallowishes - absolutely amazing! :thumbsup2

YAY MNSSHP! How awesome! Omg... I'm so jealous that you get to see that parade! I honestly don't even really care for Halloween but I LOVE that parade! So clearly I like the Disney version of Halloween haha.

AAAAND that's one of the reasons I'm not a fan of Halloween! Girls over the age of like... TEN can't dress up as anything cute, EVER. Ugh.

AHHH I love these costume ideas! How adorable! :cutie: How sweet of your friend! I bet yall will have such an awesome time!

Oh I want to visit during Halloween soooo badly!! It looks so cool! I can't wait to see your pictures from it!

OMG I am so with you on the Halloween costume skimpiness for women! Like what the heck?? I don't want to be trashy! Just cute/creative!

Oh how cute about your costume idea! OMG Reid is going to be so adorable as Captain Hook! Great idea!! :thumbsup2

I'm really happy to hear that you had manageable crowds. Hopefully, our party won't be too crowded.

I understand if it's too much for y'all to go to the party on the 30th. Sometimes, I wonder if we'll be able to make since we have a late night the night before the party.

Thanks! I'm happy with our decision about the costumes. I'm really happy that Ed is dressing too!

ETA I started my TR!

Thank you! I'm really excited to go to the party. And I think it'll be fun to be all dressed up. Make us really feel like kids again. :rotfl: You have to look up the Boo to You parade on YouTube. I love the music & just everything about this parade!

Yay! :woohoo: I'm so happy to hear that you started your TR! I will be there shortly to check-in! :thumbsup2

The Halloween Party is SO much fun!!!! You are going to love it.

The parade is just awesome .... don't miss the headless horseman and don't forget to watch Hallowishes - absolutely amazing! :thumbsup2

I am so, so, so excited to be going to the party!!! I've wanted to go to it for a while now & can't believe I'll finally get to go.

Thanks for the tips....I'll be sure to watch those!

YAY MNSSHP! How awesome! Omg... I'm so jealous that you get to see that parade! I honestly don't even really care for Halloween but I LOVE that parade! So clearly I like the Disney version of Halloween haha.

I love Halloween so I am really excited about this! :yay: It's one of the things I'm looking most forward to about our trip this year.

AAAAND that's one of the reasons I'm not a fan of Halloween! Girls over the age of like... TEN can't dress up as anything cute, EVER. Ugh.

I know, right?!? It's really ridiculous! :sad2:

AHHH I love these costume ideas! How adorable! :cutie: How sweet of your friend! I bet yall will have such an awesome time!

Thank you! I think we've come up with costumes that everyone in the family likes & will be comfortable wearing. My friend is the best! :goodvibes

Oh I want to visit during Halloween soooo badly!! It looks so cool! I can't wait to see your pictures from it!

I love Halloween & just fall in general so I'm extremely excited about the party & the decorations. Oh, I could go on & on & on.....

OMG I am so with you on the Halloween costume skimpiness for women! Like what the heck?? I don't want to be trashy! Just cute/creative!

It is so frustrating! :headache: I'm convinced it's all men who design these costumes. :sad2:

Oh how cute about your costume idea! OMG Reid is going to be so adorable as Captain Hook! Great idea!! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I'm really excited about our choice. I will probably order Reid & Ed's costumes tomorrow. I was also going to have order Reid a new hook because the one we bought him at WDW last year is about to break. Well, I was in Target yesterday & found a hook that looks EXACTLY like the one he has for.........$1.00!! :woohoo:

Hi Amanda!! Your plans sound so great.

You are going to LOVE MNSSHP! We went in 2010 and 2011, and we had so much fun. I am so sad that it will probably be a long time before we get to go again what with DD starting school. :(

I love your costume plan! :cheer2: And you are so right to want to make the effort for the parade and Hallowishes. They are just amazing. We did both in 2010, and I loved them so much. As you know, I was not so much in charge in 2011, so we did see both but in a much less enjoyable way.

I noticed that you were saying that you would find yourselves near Buzz's ride at some point and would have to ride because it is a favorite of Reid's. Well, that is also a great trick-or-treat location, and Buzz is right outside when you exit the ride! We had to meet DD's beloved Buzz both years! :thumbsup2

I'm really excited to go to the party! It has 2 of my favorite things: Halloween & Disney!

Me too!! I love Christmas too... but (and I dont want to sound odd here...) Christmas is almost sacred and I have traditions that I just felt I missed out on a bit. Halloween has always been a sort of free for all when it came to activities.

That's going to be fun with such a large group. I really like the idea of everyone being a different princess.

That's funny that your dd keeps asking about the appropriateness. Makes me feel like I'm not an old prude after all. :rotfl:

It will be interesting to see how we pull it off. 10 princesses? Could be quite tricky.

As for dd... she came out and old prude ;) Not that you are... just saying... maybe she is :rolleyes1

Yay! :woohoo: I agree....I really do think our paths will cross! How exciting! :yay: Be on the look out for Wendy, Peter & Hook! And you'll have to let me know which princess you'll be dressing up as.

Most definitely!!! As soon as I know what princess I will be... I will let you know.

This parade looks fantastic, right? The video on YouTube even got Reid excited. And for Reid to be excited about a parade....well, that says A LOT! :rotfl:

I think I just might die when I see this parade!!! I am sooo excited about it.

I'm with you about adult costumes! I don't understand why they are so skimpy! Maybe I could have pulled off sexy snow white at 20, but at 34, I don't think so! :headache:

I'm happy you found something that will work for your family, and the Wendy costume will be perfect, not too hot!

I can't believe you convinced Ed to dress up at Peter Pan, there is NO WAY my DH would wear tights, ever! He is such a good sport, and such a great Dad to make this special for Reid! :goodvibes

Originally when I was planning on MNSSHP, I was thinking I could dress Everett up as Pinocchio (since that is his favorite movie) and I could go as the Blue Fairy. Well, I had to nix that idea- a six-months pregnant blue fairy- NOT APPROPRIATE! :lmao::rotfl:

I had the same problem when trying to find matching costumes for us last year for MNSSHP. Why can't they just have regular adult costumes for women? I ended up making matching T-shirts, which for some reason we didn't wear:confused3

You made a great choice with your costumes. Reid is going to make such a cute Cpt. Hook. Poor Ed having to go as Peter Pan. I'm sure he loved that idea.

The parade was my favorite parade of the night. I love the music:love:

CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

I know....y'all are shocked that I have another change to announce. :lmao: But this one is not my doing.....it is Ed's.

This morning, I was about to order his Peter Pan costume. But, I texted him 1st about it to make sure it wouldn't be too hot for him (he's very hot natured). Also, I had offered for him to be another character & asked once again if he'd rather be that person.

Well, after a few texts, he decided to be the other character we discussed. So, who is Ed going to be now? This fellow.......

There are no Mr. Smee costumes out there for purchase. Or at least none that I've seen. But, I think I can throw together the outfit myself.

Okay, that's it for changes. For now. :rotfl2:

Hi Amanda!! Your plans sound so great.

You are going to LOVE MNSSHP! We went in 2010 and 2011, and we had so much fun. I am so sad that it will probably be a long time before we get to go again what with DD starting school.

Hi! It's good to see you back on the boards!

Thanks! We are really excited to finally go to the party. Yeah, I figured this would be a good year to go to the party since I don't know how our vacations will be affected once Reid starts kindergarten in 2013.

I love your costume plan! :cheer2: And you are so right to want to make the effort for the parade and Hallowishes. They are just amazing. We did both in 2010, and I loved them so much. As you know, I was not so much in charge in 2011, so we did see both but in a much less enjoyable way.

Thank you! Although, as you see above, we've had a slight change to the plan. But, I think it's still going to be great. Yeah, Miss Willow took control in 2011! :rotfl: I can't wait to see that parade! :woohoo:

I noticed that you were saying that you would find yourselves near Buzz's ride at some point and would have to ride because it is a favorite of Reid's. Well, that is also a great trick-or-treat location, and Buzz is right outside when you exit the ride! We had to meet DD's beloved Buzz both years! :thumbsup2

That is great to know! We'll probably hit up that trick-or-treat location then. Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

Me too!! I love Christmas too... but (and I dont want to sound odd here...) Christmas is almost sacred and I have traditions that I just felt I missed out on a bit. Halloween has always been a sort of free for all when it came to activities.

I don't think it sounds odd at all. I feel the same way about Christmas. Halloween is more of a fun, free to do whatever tickles your fancy kind of holiday.

It will be interesting to see how we pull it off. 10 princesses? Could be quite tricky.

I think y'all can do it! :thumbsup2 I think you would make a great Snow White or Belle. But, that's just my 2 cents.

As for dd... she came out and old prude ;) Not that you are... just saying... maybe she is

:lmao: That's too funny! My mom might actually say the same about me. I've just always been conservative.

Most definitely!!! As soon as I know what princess I will be... I will let you know.

Can't wait to find out which one you pick!

I think I just might die when I see this parade!!! I am sooo excited about it.

Me, too! I've never been so excited about a parade before! :hyper:

I'm with you about adult costumes! I don't understand why they are so skimpy! Maybe I could have pulled off sexy snow white at 20, but at 34, I don't think so!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about today's costumes for women. :sad2: I'm with you....at 20 I could've pulled it off. Now, that I'm 34 too (did I know we were the exact same age? Cool!) there's no way I could pull that off! :scared1:

I'm happy you found something that will work for your family, and the Wendy costume will be perfect, not too hot!

I'm really excited about our costumes! When my friend said she could make a Wendy dress for me, I was so happy. And I was even happier when I realized it wouldn't be a very constricting costume & it wouldn't be too hot! :thumbsup2

I can't believe you convinced Ed to dress up at Peter Pan, there is NO WAY my DH would wear tights, ever! He is such a good sport, and such a great Dad to make this special for Reid!

Well, as you see above, Ed will now be Mr. Smee. But the Peter Pan costume I had found didn't have tights. I knew there was no way Ed would ever wear tights. The costume had the hat, a belt, a tunic top & pants.

I think you should dress up as one of the princesses! Maybe Snow White! :lmao:

I had the same problem when trying to find matching costumes for us last year for MNSSHP. Why can't they just have regular adult costumes for women? I ended up making matching T-shirts, which for some reason we didn't wear:confused3

It's really frustrating! :headache: Awww, that's too bad that y'all didn't wear the T-shirts after you had put hard work into them.

You made a great choice with your costumes. Reid is going to make such a cute Cpt. Hook. Poor Ed having to go as Peter Pan. I'm sure he loved that idea.

Thanks! Reid is all excited about being Hook. Well, Ed is now Mr. Smee, as you see from my little post above. But, he didn't put up too much of a fight to be Peter Pan. I think it's because the costume didn't have tights. It had a tunic & pants.

The parade was my favorite parade of the night. I love the music:love:

It seems fantastic! That music is so catchy! Can't wait to see it in person! :goodvibes

CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

I think you should be able to throw this together too! And... what a cool choice. I love the change :thumbsup2

I don't think it sounds odd at all. I feel the same way about Christmas. Halloween is more of a fun, free to do whatever tickles your fancy kind of holiday.

EXACTLY!

I think y'all can do it! :thumbsup2 I think you would make a great Snow White or Belle. But, that's just my 2 cents.

Sadly, I am pretty sure that those two have been taken already. If not... Snow White would be a first choice for me. I have very pale skin and very dark hair. Oh well... I will figure something out.

:lmao: That's too funny! My mom might actually say the same about me. I've just always been conservative.

:rotfl2: My dd has been too. She could never understand why other girls her age dressed the way they did or were as frivolous as they were.

That's some kind of change I could easily live with! :rotfl2:

Great costume! And I am sure you will be successful putting it together. :thumbsup2

I like it... when you mentioned that Ed isn't fond of dressing up in costume, and then said he was going to be Peter Pan, I have to admit I wondered how that one was going to work.:confused3 :lmao:

I think this will be a much better costume, but are the Pirates going to be walking around with Wendy being their prisoner all night?

If Reid is a fan of Jake and the Neverland Pirates, you could always go for a Mama Hook costume. :rolleyes1

So fun MNSSHP:thumbsup2 Love the idea of eating right away to get it done early, we are doing that too.

Your plans look great, and cool on the costumes. I can't wait to see pictures from that night, :goodvibes
