I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

Congratulations on the house! You can add me to the list of people who haven't been around much. For some reason, I have a hard time getting back into the Dis when I first come home from Disney???!!! Makes no sense, right? :rotfl:

I'm all in!!popcorn::

I might as well be since I'm in the title and the one paying for it.:rolleyes1
Hi Ed :goodvibes
Thank you! I know....my mother is crazy! I even told her she didn't have to come to the parks. She could stay at the resort & read. But, no. I appreciate your offer but it's for the race in February that I'll need the babysitter. Ed wants me to consider either using in-room babysitting or just letting him stay home with my mom for that trip. I don't know what to do.
Couples trip...:cool1:

Um, I know a rather aged babysitter who would need to bring along a 5-year-old girl but would be more than happy to help you out with your little problem there. ;)
Willow and Reid would get along very well I bet :)

We're running into the same trouble finding a babysitter so Jeremy and I could do a Disney race together. Maybe I need to advertise here on the Dis, seems like there's plenty of interested people.
I am a mom to 6, an ER nurse, and CPR certified...just saying...:hyper:

Congrats on your new house being nearly ready! How exciting that you'll be able to move in the next week or so. I hope that packing goes smoothly and I know you'll be settled in in no time, and then Disney will be able to take top billing again.

Thank you! I really need to get going with the packing since we're going to start moving stuff next weekend. But, I spent all day yesterday making stuff for Reid's teachers & his class. Now that I have all of that done, I can start packing up all of my craft & scrapbooking stuff.

I'm also really impressed with your progress on the C25K program! I kept saying I wanted to do a Disney race, and I'd go out and walk religiously for about a month, then I'd slack off. Keep at it and you'll be racing around the parks in no time! :cheer2: We'll all be here virtually cheering you on!

Awww, thank you! I'm surprised I've stuck with it. Last night, was my last night of week 3. Boy, am I feeling it today! Only 5 more weeks to go & I should be able to run a 5K! Then, I should have a few months before the race to work on my time & upping my mileage.

Amanda, I'm sorry I've been missing...life has just been so busy lately. Congratulations on closing on the house soon...it's always fun to move into a new house. Much pixie dust for the touch-ups to be made and the move in.

No worries! I completely understand. Between closing, moving, end of the school year, I have my next 3 weeks quite full! Not to mention, my sister is due with baby #3 in the next couple of weeks so I may need to stop & help her some if she asks.

Oh, man, you know I would if I could! I was just feeling a bit :( the other day about the fact that we have no WDW or DLR trip in the works and no idea when we might. :sad1:

I know, it can be a sad feeling when you don't have a trip in the plans. But, at least y'all have the cruise! Are you starting to get more excited?

I think the latter is a great idea! I keep meaning to take a day of leave and drop Willow off at school and just do something by myself all day! I have been meaning to do that for about 3 years now!!! :rotfl2:

You really need to do that! I worked up until Reid was about 2 1/2. At my job, one of our holidays was a birthday holiday. You could take off any day in the month of your birthday. For my last one there, I took my birthday holiday & dropped Reid off at daycare. It was a glorious day!

Actually, on our first trip, a friend was visiting (a mom of one of Willow's BFFs), so she wanted her son and Willow to have some time together. She picked Willow up at daycare that morning and took her to her house to play. And I got to pack in silent bliss all by myself. I have to say that I really did enjoy packing for that trip!

It's amazing how much you can get done by yourself, right?

Yeah, BWV is AWESOME. I could easily stay there on every trip and never know another resort - except for the price!

I know, the price is a killer! I'm aiming for us to stay either there or at Bay Lake Tower for our next big trip.....which won't be until 2014.

Wow - how exciting that it is so close!!!! I know that it must be really stressful though as well.

It's definitely exciting & stressful. But, I know it'll all work out so I'm trying not to get all worked up.

Amanda, this is so great! I am so impressed with the way you have taken this on and stuck to it.

Thank you! :goodvibes I have to say that I've surprised myself by sticking with it. I'm not exactly known for adhering to an exercise regiment. :rolleyes1

Um, I know a rather aged babysitter who would need to bring along a 5-year-old girl but would be more than happy to help you out with your little problem there. ;)

Now, that is a great idea! Y'all should definitely look into a trip at the end of next February when the Princess Half is going on!

You are one busy lady! I volunteer too in my DD's classes, and I like the term 'room mom"! GOod luck with all the house stuff! It sounds very exciting!:thumbsup2

If I can make it through the next 3 weeks, all will be back to normal. I've really enjoyed getting to be the room mom for Reid's class. It can be a lot of work & a bit stressful at times but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Thank you! Hopefully, we should be completely moved into the new house by May 10th.

We're running into the same trouble finding a babysitter so Jeremy and I could do a Disney race together. Maybe I need to advertise here on the Dis, seems like there's plenty of interested people.

I know, right?!? Maybe we should start up our own DIS babysitting screening service. Kind of like care.com. I'd bet we'd have no shortage of applicants!

Ed wants me to consider leaving Reid at home with my mom for us to go in February. I feel so incredibly guilty even though I know I shouldn't. After all, we'll have just gone to WDW in Sept/Oct & will be going on the cruise in May. But, I know he'll know where we are & I don't want to hurt his feelings. :confused3

Good luck with the move! It's always a lot of work, but so worth it to get settled in a new house.

Thank you! I'm very anxious to get into the new house! :woohoo:

Joining in!

You are going to love POFQ - it's my favorite resort!

:welcome: And thank you for joining in!

Yay! Another person who loves POFQ! Now, I'm starting to wish we weren't there for just 2 nights. :rotfl:

We will be there that first week of October as well - staying at AoA - and leaving the kids at home :thumbsup2

How exciting that we'll be there at the same time! That'll be so much fun to stay at AoA. I'm looking at having us stay there maybe next May for a night or two before our cruise.

Looking forward to more of your plans (and changes - because it's no fun unless you keep tweaking them!!)

I know, it's so much fun to see how close to perfection you can get with these trips!

How are you doing on the couch to 5K training? I really need something to make me get up that couch and work on myself!!

I'm doing pretty well with it, surprisingly. I've never been one to enjoy running but I've been able to do this. We'll see how I feel after next week since my run times increase. :rotfl:

Congrats on the house! My brother's waiting on the closing of his first house, which hopefully be the first week of June. Just think, now you get to buy some home decor when you go to Disney.:rolleyes1

Thank you! That's so exciting for your brother! I remember when we bought our first home and how happy we were.

I'll definitely be scoping out some Disney home decor! I already saw the cutest Mickey garden gnomes at Hobby Lobby yesterday.

Congratulations on the house! You can add me to the list of people who haven't been around much. For some reason, I have a hard time getting back into the Dis when I first come home from Disney???!!! Makes no sense, right? :rotfl:

Thank you!

It can be hard to get back into the groove of DISing after a trip. But, the good thing is that you have another trip this summer! :woohoo:

I'm all in!!popcorn::

I might as well be since I'm in the title and the one paying for it.:rolleyes1

OH MY GOODNESS!!!

LADIES & GENTLEMEN, LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO MY OTHER HALF HERE......IT'S ED!

I have been after him to register on the DIS since he lurks all the time. Glad to see you finally listened to me......for once. :lmao:

Now, make sure you behave yourself on my PTR!

Couples trip...:cool1:

I just feel so guilty! I really shouldn't right? It's not like Reid doesn't get to go on Disney trips. Did your kids get upset when you & your DH did y'alls couple trip? I'm sure Ed will voice his opinion on this now that he can post. :rolleyes1

Willow and Reid would get along very well I bet :)

I agree! One thing I love about Reid & Willow is that even though they're only children, they're both just so outgoing & can make friends easily. Reid's teacher this year couldn't believe he was an only child. She said he is the most outgoing of the kids in the class & that he plays the best with other kids. :goodvibes

I am a mom to 6, an ER nurse, and CPR certified...just saying...:hyper:

I think you a great person to add to my list of "applicants". :scratchin

My kiddos were happy to get DH and I out of their hair :rotfl2: They really didn't mind...if Reid knows you are going for a race...he won't mind, plus he's hanging with gramma...let go of the mommy guilt. He didn't mind when you two did N.O. Think of how nice it will be....just the 2 of you, happiest place on Earth, and it's a short trip!!!! All good amanda. :lovestruc

And I still can sit for Reid in Sept for a bit if you'd like....:)

Thank you! I'm very excited to get into the house. But, you're right, it is very busy. And to add to the house stuff, I have Teacher Appreciation week in 2 weeks at Reid's school & the week after that is the last week of school with the End of the Year Party. Since I'm Room Mom, I also have tons of projects going on for his class as well. Thank you for the best wishes! :goodvibes

Oh my, I'm tired just reading that! :rotfl2:

ETA: I totally agree about the couples trip. Time without kids is so important but I understand feeling guilty. My husband mentioned taking me to Disney for my bday but I felt bad about the idea of not taking the kids. But then I started thinking no stroller, quiet meals, no whining...sounds great! Lol!

I think you should consider leaving Reid with your parents for your Feb trip. You and Ed deserve a nice vacation and some couple time, and a race trip would be the perfect time. You read how much fun Dh and I had on our couples adventure, and even though I did feel a little guilty and apprehensive before we left, I was so happy we did it. The chance to reconnect and enjoy each other's company in such a happy and magical place is priceless.

I read somewhere that the best gift you could give your kids is a happy marriage, and taking time out to just be a couple, instead of "Mom and Dad" is a big part of it!

Congrats on the new house. I knew that you were moving, but didn't realize that you were having a house built. DH and I have talked about that recently. It seems that in our town you can either have a big house on a little itty bitty yard or a small house on a big yard. We would like more of a newer, medium size house on a medium yard, but the thought of taking on the task of having a house built seems overwhelming.

I've been really thinking about it and the more I think about it, trying to get to the Princess Half this Feb makes much more sense than trying to get there in 2014. DH hasn't said no when I mention it so I'm still in scheming mode. If I do get there it will get be Caitlin and myself(maybe my sister). If my sister goes she could watch Caitlin, if not I have read that Kids night out has sitters available at 3am during Marathon times.

All caught up! So happy for you that the house is almost ready! I'm sure you'll have the house packed up in no time. You're one busy lady right now, I don't envy you.

I think it's awesome that you've been sticking to Couch to 5K. I've been thinking about trying the program (or P90x). I need to find a better cardio workout than the bike, but I've got bad knees. I think that Ct5K might be low impact enough the first few weeks for me. How are you liking it?

Good luck with everything! I'm so happy for you to be settled into your new home!

He did do surprisingly well when we dropped him off at Grammy & PawPaw's for us to go to NO. I'm just afraid that if he knows we're going to WDW that he will throw an absolute fit & be a terror for them. Should I lie about where we're going? :confused3

Oh my, I'm tired just reading that! :rotfl2:

:rotfl: I got a lot done for Teacher Appreciation week this past week & weekend. I only have the big class gift to pick up, a couple of cards to buy & some small gifts for secondary teachers to put together. I did make some cute goodie bags for the kids this weekend for their party. Now, I need to actually start planning the party. :worried:

My husband mentioned taking me to Disney for my bday but I felt bad about the idea of not taking the kids. But then I started thinking no stroller, quiet meals, no whining...sounds great! Lol!

It's so hard to let go of the Mommy guilt! Reid has become such a Disney nut that I really feel like I'll hurt his little feelings if he knows we're there without him. But you're right....the thought of doing Disney like we did before a little one is such a nice thought. And it wouldn't be a long trip. What to do, what to do?!? :confused3

Y'all did indeed have a fabulous adult trip! I keep reading about my DIS friends doing these adults only trips (y'all, Pas103 did one, now Kate has one coming up soon) & it makes me think that maybe I should do that.

And you're so right about the best gift you can give your child. And it's not like Reid doesn't get to go to Disney. If we go alone in February, he would've just gone in Oct & then we'll have the cruise in May & we'll probably spend a night or two in Disney before or after the cruise.

I may look at the dates for the Princess & see just how long we would be gone. :scratchin

Thank you! That's about how it is here. If you want a big house & big yard, you have to get a really old house that you'll have to renovate. I'm not up for that. Plus, there are some things about old houses that you can't really change....like ceiling heights. A lot of the homes here built in the 70's & 80's have low ceilings & I like high ceilings. So, we opted for brand new house with all of the finishes we wanted but it is not a huge house & the back yard is just big enough for Reid to have a swingset & run around. If you find the right builder, the process isn't all that bad. We've lived in a few different states & this is our 3rd house & the 3rd one we've built. Hopefully, this is it for a long time.

That would be so fun if you could make if for the Princess this coming Feb! Ed also mentioned the sitters to me. He wants me to think about using them also for the ToT race so that I don't have to bring Reid to the Villains Bash. But, Reid already knows about it so I think I'm just going to bring him. Worst case scenario: he falls asleep in his stroller & misses the festivities.

All caught up! So happy for you that the house is almost ready! I'm sure you'll have the house packed up in no time. You're one busy lady right now, I don't envy you.

Welcome Back! I can't wait to hear all about y'alls trip!

If I can make it through the next 3 weeks, all will be back to normal. I'm a pretty fast packer (this will be our 8th move so I've gotten good at it). And I'm the opposite of a hoarder (I think I have an addiction to donating stuff to Goodwill :rotfl: ) so I really don't have a lot of extra stuff to pack.

I think it's awesome that you've been sticking to Couch to 5K. I've been thinking about trying the program (or P90x). I need to find a better cardio workout than the bike, but I've got bad knees. I think that Ct5K might be low impact enough the first few weeks for me. How are you liking it?

Thank you! I've heard P90X will really get you into shape but that it is hard. I'm really like C25K. And for me, that's saying a lot. You could always give C25K a try & if it's too hard on your knees, you could find something else. But, I say it's worth a try! :thumbsup2

Good luck with everything! I'm so happy for you to be settled into your new home!

Thank you! Our close date got pushed back to this Friday (the 4th). Aren't y'all closing on your house this Friday, too?

He did do surprisingly well when we dropped him off at Grammy & PawPaw's for us to go to NO. I'm just afraid that if he knows we're going to WDW that he will throw an absolute fit & be a terror for them. Should I lie about where we're going? :confused3

You don't have to lie. Tell him you and Daddy are going to run in a race at Disney. That's all. Kids know their parents need alone time...and even if he gets upset at first he'll be over it the minute the door closes...Get him involved, show him the event schedule, ask if he wants you to check any new place out for your next trip!!! It will be great. Reid will be fine, and he'll be showered with goodies when you & Ed get home I am sure. I wish I had more opportunities to spend alone time with DH....I get Mommy guilt, but Amanda you go above & beyond, and you are a wonderful Mommy...you deserve this! :lovestruc

I vote for adults only too, but I am biased because one day I hope for us to have one too!!:goodvibes And yes I feel guilty for just saying that out loud!!:( I told DH for my 40th (in 3 1/2 years...just to clarify) I want an adults only WDW trip. He just rolled his eyes!! Not the reaction I was hoping for!!

I think that you should try for an adults only trip, but I know that I'd have a really hard time not taking Maddie. I'd totally understand if you didn't do it.

We do close on our old house on Friday. How funny. We close on the new one June 4 so that's the day that I'm really looking forward to.:goodvibes Hope that everything goes well!

Hi Amanda! Jana sent me to your TR and after reading that, I've headed over here :)

I'm still on page one of your PTR but wanted to jump in and say that you will really like OKW - it was one resort that I thought I'd hate and it actually is one of my top 3 (my top favorite is AKL Villas and my least favorite, believe it or not is Boardwalk :scared1: )

Anyway, I'll get back to reading! I have a 4 year old DS also (your son is absolutely adorable, btw) and I love living vicariously through you! :rotfl:

Hi Amanda! I just wanted to stop by and check in. How is everything going? I miss chatting!

The Dis was being mean to me yesterday, but I wanted to let you know that I was thinking of your family all day. I hope that the closing went well and that you're getting settled into your new home :goodvibes
