I fell off the ice cream truck...13 days of DDP with pics!*UPDATE: COMPLETED!!*

Yea that Steak N Shake visit was a nightmare! lol...but those burgers are too good to pass up so I needed to stay!!

I have a story about the harry potter ride....as amazing as it was technology wise...let me warn you..if you have arachnaphobia..DO NOT GO ON THIS RIDE....I am not afraid to admit I have a huge case of it and there is a part on this ride where you go through a giant spider cave and it comes and spits at you...i had to shut my eyes and ask marla when it was ok to open them again...i was not expecting that! so it scarred me for life and i can never get that image of that digusting large creature out of my mind.

The Dine-in Theater: the waiters bring your food out during previews and they dont bother you unless you hit the call button for them to come over to you...towards the end of the movie they bring you the check, but thats all. So they leave you in peace to enjoy the movie. Defnitely worth it!

Oh my gosh I LOVE your reviews. So much so that I saved my 1,000th DiS post just to tell you that. :lmao: You are completely cracking me up, I love your sense of humor (that KStew pic is fantastic ), I love your taste in food, and your photos are gorgeous! More please! More more more! :worship:

Oh, and your POP window is adorable! I've never done any resort decorating but you're inspiring me for next time! :goodvibes

We had a bad experience at Steak and Shake the last time I went. That's been years, and I haven't been back.

I checked into taking our family to IOA for one day our next WDW trip, but, as we have 10 people, the almost NINE HUNDRED DOLLAR price tag is a bit cost prohibited. We can go to another day to a WDW park for $100.
I really want to go to Harry World though. Sigh.

Thanks for the update!!!

don't get me wrong, i do love me some IOA/US but when you actually look at the price tag in comparison to the amount of rides... it just doesn't make sense.. especially now that US the got rid of jaws :scared1:... crazyy

I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciates my wife's sense of humor and personality...it is one of a kind

Sorry I am so late, I hang my head in shame :sad2:

Your review and photos are just fab.

My new fave saying is DA BOMB DOT COM

Breakfast

Today was a super duper EXCITING day for US!!! well for me, LOL .. FINALLY i was going to do the Living with the Land Tour at epcot!! Dan was less than thrilled and i think he would have rather endured the HP ride at hogwarts again than be on this tour! ahaha  I started my own little urban garden this spring and as of today - i am proud to say i have my first ripened banana pepper!! so cool! can't wait to chop that bad boy up for my salad tomorrow!

Anyways, on to breakfast!

Like i said before, pop has a bajillion choices for breakfast.. ranging from eggs (scrambled, sandwhich'd, wrapped, sided, omlettes).. CARBS! (pastries, waffles, pancakes, pizzas).. and even some healthy stuff too lol oatmeal, fruit.. and everything else under the sun.. so seeing as they had my two of my fav bfast foods together ... eggs + croissants! i found a winner!

disney2012261.jpg

Bacon Croissant Sandwich with breakfast potatoes $6.99

this bfast sammy actually came with bacon but i asked them to put it on the side (for Dan) but i found out at the register, not that it matters if you have the DDP, but if you ask them to leave off the meat it will be less $$, which is cool!

This was REALLY good, the potatoes were soooo tasty, they had seasoning on it that was a little spicy.. not crazy but just a little kick.. and the sandwich had like this cheesy sauce - when they were pouring it, kinda looking like yellowish water.. but it tasted :thumbsup2!!

Dan had a

disney2012002.jpg

POP Waffle with Meat $5.69

look at us living on the edge.. croissant sandwich and a waffle!
:moped: we are such DAREDEVILS.. how can you people even stand us! lol

Total: $16.78
DDP: 0 credits used
OOP: $16.78

*again, making the mistake of assuming that it was a waste to spend QS on breakfast.. which financially you are not getting your moneys worth, but we had so many to use closer to the end of the trip!*

Lunch

disney2012273.jpg

just had to share a little about the tour first! IT WAS AWESOME! it was i believe about $18 but they have so many discounts! we used our disney visa for a discount! :cool1: The tour was an hour and children get to release lady bugs, we got to taste a fresh picked cucumber and then feed the fish!

The plant above is SO BIZARRE AND COOL! i'm actually gonna go see if i can buy one this weekend! It's called a sensitive plant ..:lmao: and the best part is, when you touch the leaves, they fold in.. they shrink away!!! ITS SENSITIVE... IT DOESN'T LIKE TO BE TOUCHED!!! OMG :rotfl: i am cracking up over this!! no, but really, lol the leaves close up as a defense mechanism and then will reopen later! weird!

We had ressies at Coral Reef, which has become one of our must do's! Last year we were lucky and got sat right next to the tank and this year we were lucky again! I noticed they really only have seating for 2-4 down near the tank, so larger groups would not get to be that close. If you have never seen or known where the restaurant is.. its to the right of finding nemo, towards the back - hidden!

disney2012336.jpg

Our waiter was sooo professional, i mean he had a whole script he used the whole time we were dining there.. and i only call it a script because he repeated it 2 other times to the tables next to us.. lol but he was on his game, so go on with your bad.. scripted self!

He brought out some nice, warm and fresh
disney2012329.jpg

so good.. like i need anymore carbs in my life.. but ok!

disney2012339.jpg

Coral Reef Lobster Orecchiette Pasta - with White Cheddar Cheese and Basil Oil $26.49

Dan and I both had the lobster pasta.. Dan LOVES lobster and cheddar cheese so this was right up his alley! As for me.. I mean, if you don't know my taste by now, 6 pages in.. we just are not connecting, lol.. meaning that CARBS + CHEESE + SEAFOOD = my kinda meal! This was fantastic.. it was more like shredded lobster which was.. mmm mmm good! The only downfall to this was that there was not enough! and usually i would never say that about pasta because they always give you so much.. but we cleaned the plate.. and we were def looking at each others plate to see if either had any left (to steal more lol).

For dessert
disney2012341.jpg

Baileys and Jack Daniel's Mousse* - topped with caramel crisp $7.99

past times we have gotten the chocolate wave.. and it was.. ehhh
so we both tried the mousse ( i know, the waiter was prob like "how borrring they both get the same thing" lol)
Now if you were every worried about the alcohol in it.. relax, your not gonna jump on the table and start tearing your clothes off.. but you can taste it a bit! it was so so so good, and the little crunchy balls  on top were extra tasty with the mousse! Dan liked the choc on the bottom better and i like the white part on top.. i thought you could really taste the Jack Daniels in the bottom part! This was hard for me to stop eating!

Total: $73.45
DDP: 2 TS

Dinner

We hit up hollywood studios.. and i had one thing on my mind.. the Art of animation academy.. i have a seriously LOVE/HATE relationship with this place.. i love drawing/art/crafts..etc. so this place is a disney art mecca for me - in theory - you get taught to draw a beloved disney character, and you get to keep it (FREE! WHAT, unheard of!) ... BUT I AM SICK AND TIRED OF DRAWING MICKEY, MINNIE, DONALD, GOOFY, AND PLUTO.. c'mon! can i get a princess, a bambi character, pixar.. somethin! Dan is totally turned off by this place after constantly drawing the same character.. but going here is an ADDICTION.. i mean you sit and wait for 20 minutes.. not knowing who you will draw.. you get in there... and then.... you think .. hmm.. could it be... some one.. new!

disney130.jpg

YES! PERRY THE PLATYPUS! i dont know anything about him, but it wasnt the fab 5 so :woohoo:!

we used a QS for dinner, and most disney food is the same every where you go so it was nice to see something different. We stopped at Backlot Express, which is the food place right next to star tours.. it was raining so we figured we'd eat and cross our fingers it would stop by the time we got done.

disney121.jpg

Grilled Vegetable Sandwich - basil asiago artisan bread, mushrooms, red peppers, zucchini, tomato, watercress and cheese with sundried tomato pesto, served with carrot sticks or french fries $8.99

I got the veggie sandwhich, and let me say for being a QS this was delicious, the vegetables were super fresh and the sandwich was just made as its on a panini so its grilled! YUM-O! and all the veggies worked with it, the pesto really kicked the sammy to the next level!

Dan had
disney126.jpg

Grilled Turkey & Cheese - multigrain ciabatta with arugula and red peppers served with French fries or carrot sticks $8.99

dan does not like "stuff" on his sandwich, he is a stricly meat and cheese kinda guy, so here it is without the "stuff," lol. Dan said it was good, but the cheese was swiss and he'd have rather cheddar.. so hard to please

I was so confused on dessert.. as my choices were marble cheesecake or.. *all ears says strawberry parfait* but im 99.9% sure it was just strawberry yogurt.. i'm not a huge cheesecake fan and JEEZ i eat yogurt like everyday of my life, no thanks.. so when i was about to order the CM told me they also had choc chip cookies and mousse! HELLO! mousse, i love mousse.. since like 4 hours before.. so i will take the mousse, and i decided dan will eat the choc chip cookie..

Well by the awesome powers that be, we ended up with an xtra free mousse.. which dan ate and we saved the cookie for later (which we never ate :sad1:).

disney124.jpg

this was no jack daniels mousse, but it held it's own! more chocolaty and lighter.. the other was kinda like pudding, but this was legit mousse!

i cant speak for this poor cookie.. it felt soft though, so i'm sure it was pretty good.

bonus Living with the Land Tour pics! DO IT! its the cheapest tour you will ever get to go on in disney! ahaha Oh and you can go the day of and sign up.. thats what we did!

Nice pictures and a great start to your report!
I love your window decoration at Pop...very creative and eye catching :)

I've heard mixed reviews about the Coral Reef, but I love seafood so I'd love to try it.

The Lobster pasta looks amazing, but I think I'm allergic to lobster. Which is like my favorite food. :sad2: Lately, after very time I have eaten lobster, I feel really

I'm glad you got to draw something other than the Fab 5!

I will have to do the Living with the Land tour sometime. I think it would be really cool!

I'm loving your reviews. We are doing the Dx plan next month and I have to remember to use the credits for breakfasts as well. On the reg. DDP, I do pay OOP for breakfasts - esp. for the kids as the kid bfasts are like $4.99 or something ridiculous and come with a drink.

That lobster mac n cheese does look yummy, but we were underimpressed with Coral Reef 2 years ago and I don't think I'd be able to convince DH to try it again right now...

Oh, and that choc. chip cookie is the standard dessert cookie. It's fine and does its job as a sweet treat but it's nothing to do cartwheels about. ;)

Looking forward to more reviews! Thanks for taking the time to post!

I love all the breakfast choices and variety at the food court! I'm a firm believer in starting my day with plenty of carbs!

Your veggie sandwich at Backlot Express looks really tasty!

Now if you were every worried about the alcohol in it.. relax, your not gonna jump on the table and start tearing your clothes off.. but you can taste it a bit!

But what if I want to do a striptease on top of the table? :rotfl:

Great review of CR. I had the lobster ravioli back in November and it was excellent. Your pictures of the lobster dish looks wonderful as well, gotta love carbs when they taste that good :lmao:

yea i have seen the mixed reviews as well, if only for the atmosphere, try it! :thumbsup2

Where do you go to do the animation?!

It's in the animation courtyard @ HS, the building straight in the back, next to playhouse disney.. you can go in and watch a little short movie on animation and then go into the class or if you walk into the store and go straight to the back - follow the open doors, you can just head right into the art class!

yes, esp on the Dx.. i could have have been a little more prepared in realizing when we were eating two TS a day, we could have used the QS for breakfast.. live and learn lol! :goodvibes

carbs are brain food!

But what if I want to do a striptease on top of the table? :rotfl:

:lmao: then you might start getting people coming to the coral reef to see something other than the fish!

ohhh love lobster raviolis!

I'm loving this trip report found it by doing a search for lobster ravioli I am staying at POP in Sept and have booked Coral Reef and was debating cancelling but after looking at your pics will definitely go. Also I love the idea of using notes on the iPhone.
I've just downloaded the new DIS app for my IPad and your photos show up really good

Breakfast

Today we wanted to try something different for breakfast..

I had been eyeing up the banana bread for a couple days and decided today was the day!

disney2012343.jpg

Banana Bread $3.29
This was delicious! Not an overly powerful banana flavor, but enough.. i could have lived without the walnuts. I just love how cute it is as a tiny loaf!!! :rotfl2:

disney2012342.jpg

Cheese Danish $2.69
Dan had the cheese danish, he enjoyed it but said it could have a bit more "cheese." ... what is that in the middle anyway, i mean i have had them before.. but is it really cheese? and what kind, like a cream cheese? :confused3

+apple juice and choc milk

Total: $8.07
DDP: 0 credits used
OOP: $8.07

when we were at HS i fell in LOVE with a build your own droid! they are so cute.. you can make them at the Star Tours store..

disney153.jpg

Dan was helping me build it.. and we didnt realize until later he gave me two of the same legs! so my droid has a wonky leg...:headache: and then on the package it shows the droids wearing little mickey ears.. well they havent had the little mickey ears since Star wars weekend. so one night back at Pop.. i noticed the tiny bottle of shampoo has mickey ears! I BROKE THE TOP OFF AND IT FITS ON THE DROID PERFECTLY!!!! there is a little hole on the top of the droid and there is a little stick that comes out of the hat!!! amazing!!!

While we were at HS Dan saw this thing that they had for Star Wars Weekend and it was only going on until the next day.. it was getting your face frozen in carbonite! He really wanted it, so it was his birthday present...total was $115 with shipping and handling.. they take 8 shots of your face and artists will sculpt your face into carbonite, onto luke skywalkers body.. i guess you need to know star wars to understand lol.. well they said it takes a few weeks to get it in the mail, so we are still waiting for it!

Lunch

Sci Fi is a must do for us! We love it here, and we go for the atmosphere.. i wouldnt recommend going here for anything other then a burger and shake.. its that kinda place!

Dan had the bacon cheese burger, which he loves! He cleared the plate! He also had a chocolate milkshake which was tasty and overflowing!!!

disney160.jpg

Angus Chuck Burger - flame broiled beef patty topped with cheddar or Swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and crispy bacon, lettuce and vine-ripened tomatoes, served with a choice of cucumber salad or french fries $14.99

disney158.jpg

Milk Shakes - Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry or oreo cookie ice cream $4.69

I had the veggie burger, and let me say, BEST VEGGIE BURGER IN DISNEY!!! this was soooooo good! i devoured this burger!! I also had a cherry coke with my meal! This is not from a fountain..well im sure the coke is but they add in the cherry syrup - old fashioned way, yummy!

disney159.jpg

Vegetable Burger - Vegetable patty topped with cucumber planks, vine-ripened tomatoes, grilled red onions, peppery arugula, and pickle spear drizzled with balsamic vinegar served with a choice of cucumber salad or sweet potato fries $12.49

Dan loves loves loves anything with peanut butter.. so when this came out

disney161.jpg

... a peanut butter cake, covered in reese's pieces.. he was in heaven!!

Milk Shakes - Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry or oreo cookie ice cream $4.69

Dinner

we were at the MK this evening and we knew we had the dessert party.. but we were hungry so i thought we'd stop at CHH for dinner so i could try the lobster roll, which i have been waiting to try!

There has been a lot of heated debate about the roll.. and my personal opinion is that the roll is

gross

sorry, thats the best way to put it. it is INEDIBLE! i took one bite and that was it! its sooo liquidy and filled with chunks of lettuce..not much lobster, and the roll was on a hot dog bun.. now i know what people say a lobster roll should taste and look like, so i'm not getting into that, i just know this did not taste like anything i would like to eat again lol

disney2012407.jpg

Lobster Roll - served with potato chips $9.99

Dan and I ended up sharing the shrimp after the lobster roll fiasco! lol, the shrimp was ehhh.. a little greasy. CHH just wasn't doing it for us this time, it's usually spot on with us but you cant win em all right!

disney2012406.jpg

Fried Shrimp Basket - Served with cole slaw and steamed fresh broccoli, or French Fries $9.99

we did not get dessert as we had the dessert party, the cm seemed very distraught about this lol...even though i told her we had the dessert party she still seemed concerned.

Total: $24.98
DDP: 2 QS
OOP: $0.00

MK Dessert Party

We LOVE LOVE LOVE the dessert party, again there is constant debate as to whether or not it is worth the cost.. do you get good amount of desserts, yes i think so .. as well as a nice place to sit and the ability to get up and walk around without having to worry if your spot will be there. This is something that has to be booked ahead of time and it fills up quick! You arrive at the Tomorrowland Terrace about a half hour to an hour before the scheduled time and then they will start letting people in. Each group has an assigned table and then you have an hour to eat before the fireworks, once the fireworks start you can leave your table and stand at the railing.

they have a good assortment of treats, from cannolis, little key lime tarts, chocolate mousse, fresh fruit, cookies, cupcakes.. a ton of stuff!! surprisingly though, my favorite was the chocolate covered strawberries! THEY WERE SOO GOOD! so fresh and had a really thick layer of chocolate on them! Dan's favorite was the mousse! He got two right off the bat!!

They also have coffee, milk, juice and water! This year they also had an ice cream station which is new as we have gone the past 3 years and have never seen that!

Total: $71.98 ($35.99per person)
DDP: 0 credits used

Most true New England lobster rolls here in New England are served on New England style hot dog rolls. They should be buttered and grilled and the lobster should be overflowing so that you are getting more lobster than roll.

A New England style hot dog roll looks like the top of a loaf of bread and its top sliced. (I would post a pic but I can't from my kindle fire.)

If you ever come to Boston, I can recommend places to get good lobster rolls. I can even recommend a couple places in Maine.

I must admit...I am a lobster snob. I mean no offense to anyone, but I love lobster and that CHH roll makes me want to cry.
