I booked a room for our first night in Orlando in November, back in April or May. At least I think I did! Now I don't remember which hotel I booked and I can't find any confirmation in my email folder, which is where I keep those types of things. :headache:

I would've used my credit card to reserve, but since they don't charge the room until you get there, I doubt my credit card company would have any record of it.
Anyone else ever done this? I thought I remembered which hotel it was but I called and they don't show a reservation for us. I looked at soooo many hotels.
I could make a new reservation, but I don't want to get charged for the first one because I didn't cancel on time.

From now on I will keep better records!!

That's a tough one. I'm always afraid I'm going to do that so I always ask for an e-mail confirmation. By chance did they perhaps send you one and you can look at your e-mails around the date you scheduled it. Also, I would try calling the credit card company, as they would have had to check out the card and they may have record???

Try to backtrack and think of where you may have written the confirmation number.......Good Luck!

Try to think of any of the particulars, and maybe we can help you narrow it down. Things like price range, location, did it have a mini fridge, microwave, free breakfast, was it a suite, motel or hotel? I did a search for your old posts on this forum to see if you asked for advice about any hotels and the only thing that came up was advice about Orange Lake and Vistana and I don't think either take reservations for one night.

You can check your card online. From there you will be able to see any hits or holds that a business as done to your account. If you gave them a card, believe me they have put a temporary hold on the card -- that is the only way they know you are good for the money.

yes, OP can also call CC company and ask who (which hotel) has placed a hold or has verified it.. they always verify the CC to be sure it is good.

Do you have the ability to do a keyword search of your email inbox messages or your calendar? Search for "Orlando" or "Kissimmee" or "hotel." How frustrating. Hope it works out.

Maybe you'll get lucky and it's one of those hotels that sends you a reminder of your upcoming reservation. Marriotts always do that.

Well, if all the above suggestions fail to turn up your mystery hotel, you could consider calling your credit card company to cancel your current credit card number and have them issue a new card/number. I had to do that when our computer was hacked and my credit card number was compromised.

Thanks, everyone for your advice. I will try calling my credit card company tomorrow.
I did search my deleted email messages and I know the month that I made the reservation, but they did not email me a confirmation. I can't understand why. That's pretty much what I depend on to keep records of those types of things. Guess I'll have to be more careful in the future!

I'll let you all know if I get any results with my cc company.

Thanks again. This board is the best!:goodvibes

im in the same boat with a rental car we booked for december. we had to cancel the trip but dont remember who we booked the car through. I dident have to give a credit card, im just hoping the send me an email reminder around the time we were booked for so I can cancel it . Good luck in your search

Cars are a different story. I've never run into a penalty for just not showing up when I booked directly through the rental company.

I've had two occasions where I had a reservation which would charge after 6 pm if I didn't cancel by then.

On one of them, I did call and cancel, and the person taking the cancellation said they did so, but actually forgot. On the other, our son had an anaphylactic reaction on the way, and we ended up in the hospital and never even thought about calling the hotel.

For both of those there was no Credit card activity, until the 6 pm deadling passed. (yes, the hotel we didn't cancel at did waive the fee when I sent the confirmation that we were at the hospital).

If you can't find where you booked, I would cancel the CC just to be on the safe side, rather than enduring an unpleasant surprise.

Did you use your cell phone to make the ressie? If so, your bill should have a record of every call made for that month.

If you usually stay at a major chain, start calling them and see if they can pull it up. They can usually retrieve them by name and credit card number. You might even be able to do this online. I know Country Inn & Suites lets you retrieve them that way.
