I feel bad for Belle and Gaston in this European heat wave.

It's due to how buildings are insulated. They're built with stone and brick which helps keep homes cool. Also a lot of it has to do with the buildings themselves being much older and they do not have the insulation like newer homes do to install AC units. I was studying at a university in Germany and not a single building on the campus had AC.
Central Air cooling systems would solve the issue probably.

One thing Belle would have done in 1752 during a heat wave would be cooking outside in a Dutch oven to keep her house cooler.

Is it his backstory (from Disney) or sort of a "fan-fic" thing?
Info on the war Gaston would have fought in:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_Austrian_Succession

In the USA, at least where I live in the Northeastern US, we learn mainly about the North American side perspective of the war through the King George’s War conflict.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_George's_War

The war killed around 450,000 men and wounded 300,000 men. The even worse part is that the conflict in the end led to the 7 Years War and even more global destruction less than a decade after. I don’t approve of Gaston’s repugnant view points against Belle. I just wish some would understand his backstory before judging him harshly. Most French soldiers that returned from that conflict had difficulty reentering civilian life. The crown did very little to support them. Gaston is lucky that he had ownership of his tavern and hunting business. I think the war honestly messed with his head and is the main cause for his actions. One could look at Gaston as an anti-royalist simply because those in nobility didn’t care about him (ex. Prince Adam’s family). Prince Adam was cursed in the 1740’s and his family would have benefited from the war while many commoners suffered. Belle’s village actually in real life suffered from a bubonic plague pandemic in the 1720’s (Disney changed it to 1736 and in Paris to fit their timeline of Belle’s birth and mother’s death).

Disney did a great job in taking historical events and blending it into their classic fairytale. It definitely gave a more realistic feel to the film.

He’s made out of brass right? He would not melt until 1710 degrees F. Just an FYI. :duck::rotfl:
Let's compare:

On a generally hot day (and not 1710 degrees, mind you...)

Live Action Lumiere is mostly metal, he would survive the heat:

Animated Lumiere, his face is made of candle! You'd get a recreation of the Ark scene in Indiana Jones.

This guy would survive, because he would purchase a frosty Dolewhip and find some shade:

Or the answer to all Disney plot holes: Fairy dust or Enchantress magic.

I love how the British underestimate weather here in North America. 78 F is pretty pleasant in North America. In England it’s considered uncomfortable?
Disagree because it's not just temperature that's the problem. 97° with 25% humidity is very pleasant. 78° and 98% humidity is not pleasant to me at all.

Why can’t the USA just sell the EU portable AC units given the current crisis?

Belle always tried to go to new places through her love of books. I wonder if she ever tried to imagine another place through 18th century cookbooks?

If you look inside her cottage in the movies and in WDW, you can see her 18th century pots and Dutch oven. I really appreciate Disney doing their research on how French 18th century fireplaces looked and common cookware she would have used at the time. I could easily see her making a recipe like the one above for her and her father.

The addition of that many AC units would really stress the power grid and could lead to brown outs.
If the EU are ahead in green energy as far as they claim to be, then that shouldn’t be an issue. The USA and Canada are the size of Europe and don’t really have that issue.
