I expected some rude people, but some of this was ridiculous...

To the OP:

I'm sorry to hear about your experiences on your recent trip. Like you said, nothing surprises me anymore unfortunately, and usually as the crowds increase, so do the scenarios like the ones you experienced. The best way I’ve found to deal with these situations is just to shake your head and move on right away. You could go on steaming for hours, but why let someone else ruin your day? Fortunately, there are usually a lot of great things you see too which really bring out the magic in the parks.

I go expecting to have a great time and...TA DA! I do. Sure, stuff like that happens to me, but I choose not to dwell on it. If you expect life to be terrible, it will be.

This thread is depressing me! What is wrong with people? The worst thing I ever saw at Disney was someone left a caca-filled diaper in the Dumbo que. It wasn't even hidden and it was overflowing.

I am guessing I need to invest in a bottle of Prozac for my next trip.

I guess what amazes me is there can be 40k people at the park but when the park closes the 39,999th person wants to be the fist one out, the ferry ride has to be the worse, i allways make buddies with the guy running the line for the shuttles because im not afraid to show the red around my neck if you cut in line in front of me and my son lol!!!

I suspect I'll be flamed for this, but how is a little boy using a portion of his anatomy for a normal and necessary function any less acceptable than a grown woman using a portion of her anatomy for a normal and necessary function? They're both producing a sterile fluid, just different colors and viscosity.

Last time I checked, peeing in the bushes is not an action protected by Florida law

Thank you. I am glad someone said it. I certainly do not have a problem with mamas feeding their babies anywhere they may need to, but there is a way to do it discreetly.

You know, some people also thing that in order to be discreet women should be covered from head to toe. While that might make some WDW visitors more comfortable, I don't think you'd appreciate being told to dress like that. I'll repeat myself, if you don't like being near a breastfeeding woman, go somewhere else. No one is forcing you to look at her or be near her. :sad2:

OP so sorry you encountered this all, wow. I am always astonished by the number of rude people.

As for the breastfeeding debate, I just had to say something. To the CM or former CM who complained about a woman doing "that" on his ride, you need to educate yourself a bit. Breastfeeding is not going to go away. I have breastfed babies on many rides on previous trips and who cares? Most women who breastfeed in public do so discreetly. I dont use a cover, my kids have all thrown it off, but I am very discreet. However, I would rather nurse my child than let them scream. I would suggest if feeding a baby makes YOU uncomfortable that you dont look.

As for comparing a child peeing to feeding a baby... seriously?! No wonder the breastfeeding rates are so low in this country when the general public still has so much disregard for doing the best thing possible. It frustrates me to no end!!!

Heck that is nothing! Wait until the disboarders start posting about bringing and using potty chairs in line.

I believe that's me you are referring to that had that joy of experiencing that.. In the line. For the monorail. In the Contemporary. And then she carried it onto the monorail:sick::rotfl:

Not sure it was you-I remember a poster actually defending the practice and admitting she does it. Other people chimed it with how acceptable it was.

"Covers" are anything but discreet. You might as well wave a red flag and scream "look at me, I'm breastfeeing a baby!"

Proper nursing clothing can be very discreet. I usually wore nursing shirts made by companies like Motherwear--and with those, to passerbys it just looked like I was holding a sleeping baby.

There was no need to repeat yourself, we heard you loud and clear the first time. No one on this thread has suggested that breastfeeding mothers be covered head to toe. I think the PP said it perfectly - a little bit of modesty goes a long way. I think we can all agree with that, and if not then it sounds like a personal problem to me.

Please show me where I said you should wear a cover?????

Edit - Actually nevermind - I am done with the conversation. Don't worry about it.

I fear for the future of humanity. As we lose civility, our society will break down to the point of no return. So sad, I guess we'll all be carrying weapons to defend our spot for the parade in another 50 years. :sad2:

thats so horrible.. i just cant believe ppl nowadays...

granted i havent had those horrible expriences at disney, but i work nights at a walmart... and thats just as bad.. i want to hit some of the ppl that come in there...

Nights at Walmart are like the bar in StAr Wars....

I haven't read through the entire thread but we were just there in the beginning of May and I witnessed 2 "rude" behaviors that are worth noting. The first was while we were in line at The Plaza for our reservation. A guy (guessing around 50 years old) must've just heard that you need a reservation to get in (big surprise) and he budged in line to MAKE a reservation. Then joked to everyone in line in hopes they wouldn't get mad at him. ??? Why budge in line if you KNOW you are ticking someone off? GET IN LINE!

The second was while we were leaving Animal Kingdom. We were on our way out and I got a whiff of cigarette smoke. Sure enough, the guy in front of us was walking with his cigarette hidden in his hand. That really ticked me off... you can't possibly wait till you get wherever you're going to light up? You NEED to have one on the walk out? Ugh...

She's not spreading germs.

You quoted Arithel stating that she always used a cover because it's "polite to other people not as progressive" and said "thank you. I'm glad someone said it". I took that to mean that you agreed with her.

I read it differently-I took it that she was supporting this comment:
"Sometimes the La leche league needs to remember that a little bit of modesty goes miles."

I can't believe this. How is asking people to be discreet about breast feeding make you some horrible person? Or an enemy of the breast?!
C'mon! I am a nurse and a mother.
NO ONE needs to show off their breasts to the public. Just because youre breast feeding doesnt mean you can be an exhibitionist. Yes, babies benefit from breast feeding. No I don't want to see your breast.

I would suggest if feeding a baby makes YOU uncomfortable that you dont look.

I don't think people care if you breast feed a child. People care if you are showing your breast in public. You can breast feed and cover yourself, or be in a private place.

Which camp do you fall in?

1. Are you insecure about your husband looking at another woman, or
2. do you feel guilty because you did not breastfeed?

It's always the women who complain! So much for sisterhood and unity. Men are usually the understanding ones who don't give a rip.
