I expected some rude people, but some of this was ridiculous...

Well as they say you can't fix stupid, I guess we just have to live with them....This is what comes to mind with those type of people you described OP.

So enjoy the decent people and always be polite and together we can make Disney a better place :thumbsup2

I'm a real stickler about manners with my children. I always try to set a good example, as does DH as he feels the same way I do. Boy, in some situations it can really be a challenge, and not just at WDW!

Like most people who visit regurlarily enough, we've seen our share. I've never responded in some of the quick witted and really fab ways I've read about here, but I certainly have my moments of wanting to tell my kids just to ignore the rules.
We never do...and at the end of the day I'm glad, but I've reached my boiling point a few times!

I think the worst bits have been men sitting on busses when women with young children stand, line cutting, stroller/wheelchair/ECV "ramming" and parade pushers...

Yeah all of what you said OP sounds about right. If you thought the wheelchair was bad, try being run over by an ECV. Not fun. It's like the people in them don't even care, and half the time it's someone's kid who jumped in it to drive around.

Peeing in bushes/plants/etc I used to see a lot when I worked in the parks. Also, a lot of diaper changing in the middle of queues. One time a lady was breastfeeding on my ride! I mean, I get it you need to do that, but find a quiet table somewhere!
I was with you right to the end. Why do you care where she chooses to bf her child? If it was a bottle would you care? I think not

While none of the aforementioned situations is okay, what really gets me - and I guess it isn't rude so much as just gross - is having your kid pee in a PLANT in a crowded area. Seriously? Are you so worried about losing your place in line that you need to have your child urinate in public? That's disgusting.

I agree it is GROSS and and just sad that some parents think this is ok...I was at WDW this past april for a weekend trip and there was a family with a small boy at the bus stops at Pop Century they werent even in line they were sitting on the bench and they had the little boy peeing in the grass...not behind a bush...not facing a bush...just peeing in the grass. He was haveing a grand ole time writting with his pee and the whole family was just laughing up a storm :scared1:

Well, normally if someone has a cover it's fine, but part of the reason was that she wasn't exactly trying to hide it. Plus, other guests around her were obviously uncomfortable. And she was sitting in a small row next to strangers.

Again so what, she is feeding her child. I'm not one to whip it out in the middle of a crowded subway or something but if someone wants/needs to bf her child at tht point it's no ones business.

I too was mowed down by a lady pushing a wheel chair! We were there on Thanksgiving 2011 and walking through a pretty crowded area of Epcot (near France) and as we were just walking, this lady came running at us and hit me! I was SO angry and I thought my husband might commit the first ever murder at WDW!

I would bf a baby to keep them quiet on a ride. It's pretty effective. I would personally use a cover but not everyone likes to.

I am not making excuses for the rudeness of people but as someone who has had to push a stroller and a wheelchair at WDW, I just wanted to say, it's not easy! It is difficult enough to walk in those crowds but when you are trying to manuever a stroller or wheelchair it is darn near impossible. People stop suddenly in front of you and also when you try to leave a space cushion, people invariably step into it directly in front of you. Then you get the dirty looks! All I am saying is to please take into consideration what the other people are dealing with.

That said, there is no excuse for jumping lines or pushing through to the front because you couldn't be bothered to stake out a spot for the parade like everyone else.

I saw TONS of men peeing in the bushes at the start of the Disney marathon in January. There are numerous porta potties, but this is easier and they obviously think it is acceptable.

I think the problem is when people are down at WDW (and I guess other places also), people feel like it is their vacation, they paid for it, they will never see these people again, so they feel free to do whatever they want. They figure what is the worst that can happen, someone will give them a dirty look. That is why so many people take flash pictures when the signs say very plainly not to do so. A really sad commentary on society, I think.

Not trying to step on anybody's toes here, but we notice in September that some of the guests from other countries are very rude. (Not Europeans/UK/Australians, I love you guys! ).

It seems like some of them think they are entitled to everything and to hold up lines/busses/etc just to get what they WANT. They are all "white collar" folks and seem to be the "upper class".

I waited behind a lady (obviously from a Latin Country) with her expensive purse, cell phone, and snobby attitude hold up a line at a bakery in HS last September. As she talked on her phone, Her daughter (14-15 years old) wanted a SPECIFIC cup cake in the display case...The CMs tried to help in a courteous way, but the girl kept saying No, I WANT THAT ONE." BRAT. 10 minutes later...she had her specific cupcake in a box and was out the door. Good riddance.

I guess our cultures are different, but most of the time it seems some are VERY RUDE...like they are better than everybody else. PUSHING AND SHOVING AND CUTTING in line is another thing from them...And no Smiles! SHEESH. :)

Yea, yea...it's probably the culture.

I have a hard time keeping my American Blue-Collar mouth shut. :headache:

Sounds like you encountered people from Miami! Stand your ground and call out the line cutters. They are afraid of confrontation as they usually can get away with their rude actions. We pick our battles and challenge them when needed. The 10 min cupcake girl definitely would have warranted some commentary.

So sorry OP about getting hit with the wheelchair! Horrible!

Like you I've noticed a LOT of smokers outside of the designated area, even one by the exit to Pinocchio's village haus- a CM had to come outside and tell him he couldn't smoke there after customers complained they could smell it inside of the restaurant. Rude people are everywhere though in and outside of Disney... don't think we'll ever be rid of them!

Yet, we still go back over and over again... the good outweighs the bad. :goodvibes

I have to chime in here about smokers because it really burns my biscuits! There is now a LAW against smoking in public areas that aren't designated for smoking so anyone that smokes outside of these areas should be escorted out of the park. I was once a smoker and members of my family still smoke, but we would never dream of forcing our smoke on someone else. So sick of rude, inconsiderate people. :sad2:

Welcome to the new and improved Walt Disney World, where anything goes. So get the heck out of my way, I have places to go, and characters to see. And I must be first before you.:woohoo:

I don't think a man needs to give up his seat on a bus for me, just because I'm a woman. I'm usually perfectly capable of standing. And when I'm not, I see to it that I don't stand. I will either wait for the next bus, or go grab a taxi. It is not up to perfect strangers to see to my needs.

And I've seen many a kind stand on the bus, when there was plenty of open seating. Lots of them think it is fun. If it is dangerous for them to stand, then I really hope their parents wouldn't drag them onto a standing room only bus.

Last year I saw this guy with two Dole whips in both hands knock this little boy (about elbow's height) down.He didn't even turn around to see if the boy was ok. What I guessed to be the boy's father walked toward the man, tripped him and went to his boy. Of course the Dole whips went flying and the man smashed his knee pretty hard on the ground....serves him right!! Karma I tell ya!!!

Sadly many people think it is all about them, just look at the responses in this discussion.

Some times it is not about right or wrong but just being polite to others.

But I agree that strollers, wheelchairs and ECVs in the hands of someone rude becomes a weapon. We experienced the same thing with this woman on a scooter last trip. In a crowd she thought her horn meant everyone move the heck out of her way. She had no plans to wait and let anyone else move at a normal speed.

I was with you right to the end. Why do you care where she chooses to bf her child? If it was a bottle would you care? I think not

If she was covered I wouldn't have a problem with it, but unfortunately I have seen people there who could care less what others see and it really makes me uncomfortable. If it makes me uncomfortable, I'm sure it would do the same to others.

We have seen our share of rude people too. Once just after the parade and before Wishes my DD was ran over by a wild man using his stroller to break through the crowd. He hit her not once but twice to the point she was crying and my DH went off on him but the guy must not have understood English. His poor wife had another child in a stroller and she was fighting to keep up with him. He was such a JERK!

We were behind them all the way down Main Street as we were trying to exit the park. I was thinking maybe something has happened and he must be in a hurry to get back to his resort, but no. He fought that crowd and ran into people to make it to the train station only park his stroller to watch Wishes. Oh I was so mad! This was by far the worst thing we have ever seen at Disney.

OP, sorry that you had to see these things. I try to focus on the positive while we are there because the good by far exceeds the bad.:goodvibes
