What does this have to do with anything? Anytime one travels in another country, taxes are paid according to that countries tax system. I didn't blame the Canadian people when we paid high taxes for everything in Niagara Falls.

Your rants against inexperienced American travelers are really getting old.
Not everyone here is like you with no family and spending all their time flying all over the world and never forgetting something you needed or making a mistake.
Perhaps you should take a break from the Disboards.

Of course, some people really are clueless. I'm not new here and see it often. Just last week someone checked in for their USAirways flight and was genuinely shocked to see baggage fees. That's probably the most extreme case I've seen lately but it's the putting down on Americans as if everyone in the rest of the world are experienced and knowledgeble flyers and she's tired of explaining it to us morons. That's the part that bothered me.
If you don't like the USA, don't come here, but don't go online and complain how stupid we are and expect us all to swallow it.

Kind of like how you and your siblings can gripe about your mom but you get fightin' mad if an outsider put your mom down. kwim?

I'm perfectly capable of understanding why they use the bags. The incomprehensible part is having to throw good things away because you don't have a stupid plastic bag.

Just a question . . . do the German airport security forces require that all passengers remove their shoes in order to xray them and then require one to walk without shoes through the metal detectors?

I know that when we flew out of Heathrow last year, our shoes all had to come off...every one of us.


Here's the thing.....the TSA has decreed that all liquids/gels need to be 3.4 oz or less and put into a clear quart sized baggie. If you don't follow that mandate you will lose your toiletries..plain and simple. I can just see it now..you get to baggage check and are told that your bag is too large, but please, allow us to provide you with the proper sized bag. Ah, no. It is up to each person to take responsibility for their own flights and subsequent packing.
I, for one, will not appreciate being behind someone who has not followed the rules and now has to go through their bag to get all those 3-1-1 items and put them into a provided baggie. I am so tired of being behind those who don't want to take off their shoes or who didn't think that computers have to go in their own bin or that they have to take the change out of their pockets. We need to take responsibility for being informed travelers.
