I don't understand why most everyone seems to think Mission:SPACE isn't a good ride?

Am I in the minority? I went on Mission:SPACE three times and loved it, was ready to go on it again.

How is it too short? Isn't it something like 4 minutes? MUCH longer than the RnR & ToT.

And the G's that you get - it's like the first 5 seconds of RnR, only it lasts more like 15 seconds, and it happens 3 or 4 times during the ride.

To me, it is a ride to go on over & over again. I think it is now the best thrill ride on property.

I know plenty of people seem to disagree with the this, but does anyone feel the way that I do about this ride?

I couldn't ride this since I am pregnant, but my family did and they disagree with you in some respects. My fiancé thought the concept was great and he most original ride he's seen, but both he and my mother thought it was too intense to be very enjoyable. My mom actually got sick and was sick for most of the day after riding that and she loves thrill rides so she's not the type of person who normally gets ill on rides with motion sickness warnings. They both thought if it were toned down a little it would be a really great ride, but the way it is now, with your skin getting pulled back and feeling the veins in your neck pulsate was just too much for a ride where you're supposed to be having fun.

We loved it and I think most posts on here agree with that. I think though that the CM I talked to was correct. The ones who do NOT like it are very vocal. Everyone we saw that day loved it and most were going on it again. How about posting a poll if that has not been done? We did it twice back to back and I am prone to nausea and can't do Star Tours. Loved this ride, better than I thought it would be.:teeth:

I can appreciate it for what it is and I am glad its there, but I well to put it nicely hated it but then again I answered yes to all the questions they asked (except the expecting mother one) so I am not really a good canidate any way and it seemed like 40 minutes instead of 4::yes::

I think MS is amazing. I do not do thrill rides, but just had to do MS at least once. As soon as I got off I had to go right back on. It didn't make me sick at all. It was the most amazing thing I've ever done. I rode it 3 times before the day was out. Now I'm sad because I didn't go back and ride it one more time. It was such a dream come true for me!

I totally agree with you!!! I get severe motion sickness, so was really scared to ride Mission Space. Well, I was dying to try it anyway, so I did. It was AMAZING!!!! I absolutely loved it. We only went on it 3 times while we were there, but would have done more if not for the crowds. The intensity of it is the whole thing about the ride. Isn't going into space intense? That is what this ride is supposed to immulate. If it were any less intense, I probably wouldn't like it. By the way, we were told by the CMthat the ride is 4.5 minutes.

I have not seen any reports on DIS about Mission Space being a bad ride. I love Mission Space and this is despite the fact that I am little dizzy when I come off the ride. The special effects are great and the g-forces at takeoff are tremedous.

I will not ride mission space more than once or twice in a day but I still think that it is a great ride.

Only one person has likened this to RnR...only MORE intense! Wow, I don't know if I could take that! Those first seconds of RnR sure take their toll! Can someone else please expound a bit on this ride and compare it to RnR?

Hi BrianD :wave2:

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed MS. Our family is really excited and can't wait to try MS :hyper: My DD (9) is a little apprehensive after seeing the newest Disney comercial about MS. She was worried when she saw the adults screaming :scared1:

Thanks again for the positive review. MS here we come

I wouldn't say it was a bad ride, not at all. It was very cool. But, that said, after riding it once, I was done with it. During the lift off part when you feel your cheeks being sucked into your face, my sinuses felt like they were going to explode. Now this usually bothers me mildly when taking off in an airplane. On MS, I thought my head would explode. Not exactly an enjoyable sensation. But once that part was over it was pretty fun.

I felt like my 3 year old DS when I got off...

DH: Was it fun?
Me: Yea
DH: Do you want to go on again?
Me: NOPE!!

I enjoyed Mission: Space, but I was disappointed by it. I didn't think it lived up to all of the hype. I didn't find it particularly thrilling. For me, it doesn't have that one really great thrill like the start of the Rock 'N Roller Coaster, the big drop on Splash Mountain, or the outside lap of Test Track. I didn't think it was at all intense. I find Body Wars and Back to the Future over at Universal to be a lot more intense than Mission: Space.

Most of the complaints are either
(1) it's too intense
(2) it's not intense enough

These complaints seem to occur with roughly equal frequency, which makes me think maybe Disney actually got it right.

People just love to complain, and Disney has kind of brought it on themselves with all the hype, but who can blame them for seeking publicity? After a while people will figure out it's not the Ultimate Ride (which is different things to different people), and just accept it for what it is.

I'm looking forward to riding it in about 30 days, and I'm SURE I will enjoy it!

PS: Wouldn't it be fun if they could have special "thrill nights" where they would crank it up to 3Gs to suit the thrill seekers, then drop it back to normal the next day?

My dh, dd (9) and I rode it in August. My dh didn't ride it again because it gave him a headache (he says!). But, my dd and I loved it. Now, ask me about Dinosaur. That ride has no redeeming qualities if you ask me. That one leaves me feeling queasy from all the bouncing/jouncing around and loudness. I think that one is way too rough. I'll take MS over and over before I do Dinosaur again.

I have read many conflicting reports of this ride, many of them seem to say that it "makes them sick" or "it was too small inside"...either way, I can't wait to try it out in December!! :)

Just rode it two days ago.

I loved it and DH hated it!! I was so scared when I went to ride, but it turned out to be no big deal. It was pretty fun. Can't wait to ride again! I think the TOT was way more intense.

DH felt sick for about 3-4 hours afterwards and said he almost puked in the ride. And he thought TOT was no big deal. Go figure!

So, I guess you just have to try it and see!!

Maybe if we hadn't waited 90 minutes in line it would have seemed better, at that point we were just ready to get it over with. It was a little too closed in for me, which you are told many many many times whilst standing in line, so I was prepared... I had my "shoulder bars" loose enough so that I wouldn't freak out, but then when the ride started the force of it smashed the bars completely against my chest and I couldn't WAIT for it to be over. I was glad I got to ride it, just to say I did, but I doubt I'll be standing in the line to do it again. I didn't feel nauseous but I did have a beast of a headache shortly after.

ps. we waited in line because when we arrived at the ride all the Fast Passes were gone for the whole day... as was for Test Track. We rode TT after Mission Space and it was only about 30 minutes in line for that, that was fun, too short, but we enjoyed that. :Pinkbounc
