I was reading the thread about the new upcoming events - is it true no more fireworks? Parades? There were so many abbreviations that I could not make sense of it.

We are going May 26th-May28th - a Tues/Wed/Thurs. Will be see parades?

I wish DL would post the park hours and info so I can get a grip on all of this!

The new fireworks show started this week. It is the old fireworks show, minus some minutes in the middle.

We were told this weekend that the new parade at DL starts at the end of March.

Hope this helps,
Dreams

WHAT! They shortened the fireworks show? :scared: What part? Anyone know? Your talking about Dreams come true right?

Which "old" fireworks show are you refering too? :)

It's the Remember... Dreams Come True show that we all love and adore so very much, minus a few minutes to make it somewhere under 15 minutes (which the original version is not).

What they cut out was about a minute of the the Frontierland portion. It still seems to flow well, so most people wouldn't notice it - at least according to everything I have read.

They got rid of it apparently in part because of the cost of some of the special shells needed for that section (I'm thinking that the shells are the bulls-eye ones used for the shooting gallery sequence). The economy slump strikes again.

I have to say that the show is an awesome show. If you are looking for the edit, yes, it's a section that is missing. I am not sure I would call it a strike from the economy. If you have never seen the show, it is a long, amazing fireworks show.

Its still an awesome show, and the edit doesn't ruin it or anything. Heck, its still a million times better than Wishes in WDW. I'm curious what else you would call this move, however, if not a strike from the economy, when you consider its been running for almost four years without a change. Of course, there could be another reason but I imagine the most likely reason is to save money. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just hope it doesn't continue. There is a certain point where you cut too much out and it won't be the same anymore.

I know now that RDCT is being scaled back, but is it going away for good in the Spring? I hear it will be replaced by some modern warped version of Fantasy in the Sky.

Yeah, I thought I read an article by Al Lutz stating that it would be different this summer because they don't want all the fantasyland and area by the matterhorn closed for so long. I guess people were complaining that they couldn't ride so many rides while RDCT was preparing, during, and after the show. Sad I know. It is by far the best fireworks show I've seen at either DL or WDW. I use to think Wishes was amazing....that's funny in retrospect.

I have no clue on the reason, but perhaps it's just to make the show shorter? It's a very long fireworks show. Maybe it's a way to save money, but still keep an incredible show that guests love? I would not consider that an "economy slump" strike, but maybe that's just a different viewpoint.

If they tried to keep everything that budgets do not allow, they would have to raise prices. And then everyone would yell about that.

I was just commenting about the RDCT and that I don't think it comes across as any different from a guest-enjoyment standpoint with a few minutes missing.

Here's the link to that Al Lutz article:

Scroll down to "Night Moves."

Celebrate! will start performing on Friday, March 27th. They are currently in rehearsals and will start night time (after midnight) reherasals on Main St. very soon.

OP, the DLR Entertainment Schedule right now only shows up to April 22nd. Since that's a Wednesday, the fireworks are scheduled to be showing April 19th. It's really unknown if they will playing past that day.

Since Al Lutz says "spring". I want to say that may be the last day for RDCT. If not, sometime in May. Since the end of May starts summer crowds with Memorial Day, I'm hoping they'll have the new fireworks show running by then.

I actually like having Fantasyland closed while they set up for the fireworks because seeing the castle lit up with the carousel stopped but still lit up behind it is incredibly beautiful, imo.

I agree that FL being closed doesn't affect me because I am sitting on mainstreet and hour ahead of time for that great seat on the bench in front of the castle. But to those with young kids who may not want to watch the fireworks show and want to do DL it is probably a pain.

I hope the new fireworks are up by the end of may too. I love RDTC but a new show would be way nice as well! I am hoping to see this show once more in April and then bring on the new one! :)
