I don't look like my driver's licence photo anymore?

The picture cards are still being issued, DS was born in August and his card has a pic of a trillium but expires in 5 years and eventually when he is older he will need a photo for it.

That's what I initially thought, but, I have since met adults who have the "new" green health cards but with a trillium in the place where my photo is. They told me that they had been told that they would never need a photo. Hmmn.... <shrug>

I would just get a passport, so much less hassle and then you only need it in your hand not two or three things.
Your drivers license only proves you are licensed to drive in your province, not that you are a Canadian, so you need to carry a birth certificate.

I have never lost my license, but when I got married it was late November ( today is our anniversary actually) and my license was due to expire on my next birthday (June) when I went in to change my name.....and get a whole new license she told me I would have to pay full price for the new lisence and then would still have to renew it before my birthday, paying full price again. So she told me to wait till the new year because you can get a new lisense if its 6 months or less till expiry. So I waited till January and got a new license, full price but good for 5 years.
So if you have to pay full price to replace ($75) and with the passport only being around $89, Id just get the passport and renew my lisence at the right time. JMHO

Hey Sandra, the cheapest thing to do might be to buy a blond wig to wear! :thumbsup2 They won't dare say anything about the weight... and heaven knows we all look OLDER than our last driver's license pic!

I just got notification that my health card is up for renewal and that a new photo will be required. Health cards are definately not to be used for ID.

But same trouble if you don't look like your passport photo anymore... you'll end up showing all the ID you've got, not to prove that you're a citizen, but to prove that you're the person who belongs to that passport, IF the agents at the border choose to question it. The problem is not looking like the picture in your photo ID, whatever ID it is.

If you go to MTO... give us the scoop.
I went last year when I lost my License and ask if I could have a new pic. It was the downtown TO site @ Wellesley/Bay and was told a flat out "NO", that I would get a new pic only when my current one expires... I did however have to pay $10 to replace my lost license :o(

Hi. My husband works for MTO. He actually manages the private Driver & Vehicle offices. However, he looks after the offices in eastern Ontario but the rules should be the same.

When a person replaces a driver's licence, the charge is $10. The person does have the option to ask for a new photo at no additional charge. The office at Wellesley/Bay was wrong. They should have taken a new photo when the customer asked for it.

If at any time, an individual wishes to get a new photo on their driver's licence (people's appearances do change ... kids get older, men grow/shave beards, etc), they can. This will cost $10. If the licence is to be replaced too, there is not an additional $10 charge. The licensing offices will do both tasks -- replacement licence and new photo -- for the one $10 charge.
